I'm amazed that it was Larian of all companies who would be the ones to carry on Bioware's torch. Playing any of their RPGs before DOS 2, you'd never have suspected it.
Ego Draconis was full of SOUL. I could tell then that they will rise, overcome, and break the eurojank ceiling.

I can't believe it took me 3 deaths to realize that you can just smash the golem boss in grymforge with the oversized mallet.

I didn't realize at all, I actually killed the thing
HOW?

Even when I gave my fighter a hammer I didn't get it below 150 before it flattened all four of my group. It was immune to half of my party's characters main attacks. My level 5 wizard was just casting ray of frost over and over because it was flat out immune to everything else.

I was instantly thinking about it, because I primed myself in that direction from blowing up rocks with gunpowder barrels earlier in that zone. Oh, damage resistant? And we are in a big forge? I know what I must do.

Githyanki should have been axed too. I doubt anyone wants to play as one and it barely makes sense. I know Larian fucking loves Lae'zel, but I don't think the players do?
Lae'zel is one of the few tolerable companions in the game.

If she were shorter, had a beard and maybe a Scottish accent, she'd be better though.

They could have given her personality to someone who doesn't look like something from my nightmares though.

She's a lore accurate githyanki. Coomers, keep walking! This is a lore neighbourhood.
If the game didn't have romances I probably wouldn't care, but if you're going to give me girls to bang, at least give me some hot ones. Shadowheart is the only one available for men who don't want to bang freaks and that's a huge shame. There's basically no variety unless you're a weirdo. Normal people only get one option and she's certainly not going to be to everyone's tastes. If you're going to give me weird romance options at least give me a cute halfling or gnome chick. That would probably increase Japanese sales because loli.

I'm thinking it's just that the Infinity Engine type of RPG has always been a compromise, a technical one, during the search for the holy grail of how to emulate the PnP experience.

Once the technology improved, people went to search for that holy grail in different directions and the Infinity Engine-like subgenre while fun in itself, is an evolutionary dead end when it comes to the question "how to make our game as close to PnP as possible".

Yeah agree with that, although Minthara is nice too.

There are no women for you to bang in Baldur's Gate 3. There's companions for your character to bang. Your character, who is also a weird freak, would find these women recognizable. Thielfing? Probably grew up near them in Baldur's Gate. Gith? Maybe he's a gith himself.

At least make them look like children.
Nevermind, holy smite yourself.

Indeed, they did not evolve and were afraid of taking risks. Larian did and are now reaping the fruits of their labour.

Companions are definitely the worst thing about this game to me. They should have made the game slightly smaller so they could have time to make 12 companions - one for each class. Having slightly less content would have been more than made up for with replayability from having more companions. Githyanki should have been axed too. I doubt anyone wants to play as one and it barely makes sense. I know Larian fucking loves Lae'zel, but I don't think the players do? They could have easily given us some hotties instead. Or 5 hotties and a grandma if they absolutely have to add Jaheira.

The only one I like at all is Astarion and only because he reminds me of Milo Yiannopoulos

I think Laezel is one of the better companions so far. Her being a sex freak isn't also as annoying as most of the others since it fits with her character.

Astarion would be easily the worst were it not for Karlach and her zoomer ass vocabulary.

All I know is that Shadowheart really wants this dick but I'm only semi-interested. Am interested in raw-dogging that lesbian couple, but I don't think Larian is prestigious enough to allow that.
If you give them feedback and ask for it i am sure they would consider it.

This kind of people don't write in the thread maybe. I'm cleansing the goblin camp. My wife just started yet another playthrough - lizard rogue Dark Urge, she is enjoying the dungeons more than the conversations, understandably.

Strap Yourselves In Pathfinder: Wrath
I just need to finish up the Githyanki patrol before I venture into the underdark.

Level 5 makes a world of difference. I have gotten the hang of my warlock, especially now that I have a decent selection of spells. Gayle has haste and fireball. I am not sure how to best use Shadowheart though. I use her for heals and bless, but I feel like I am not making good use of her.

Also, midwit take, but I think Hex is a trap choice for melee locks due to how easily you can lose concentration on the front line. There is so much more you can do for the encounter by spending the limited spell slots on Armor of Agathys, the psychic disable, or Tasha's laughter. Taking out 1 or 2 key opponents first and/or preventing damage is more useful imo than the additional damage from Hex over time. I just don't think it pays for itself relative to the other spells.

wait you can actually make a hot chick with a dick? I haven’t even thought of that. the possibilities are endless

This gender is a social construct shit means male traits and female traits are not associated with gender, so if you pick "body type 2" and you hit randomize you'll get vaginas or pink hair and shit like that. Male and female voices are mixed toghether and don't have a separate category. If the character creation system was more complex i can forsee this would have become incredibly obnoxious, but you only get an handful of choices to pick so you can sort this mess out.

Races not having stats was probably done to prevent "racialism", but you still get abilities which is kinda of a contradiction all though i suppose those could be a result of "cultural" differences.

If you play the game you'll see that, while it's highly likely that some of the writing/development is by woketards in the company, and that there are some true believers there, the gestalt of Larian as a whole, as a company led by Swen, who's clearly whip-smart, is that it's doing all that stuff partly so it can be left alone to make CRPGs in peace, partly because conforming with woke degeneracy lets them get away with not having to make separate male and female reactions to things a lot of the time, and partly because any publicity is good publicity.

In fact if you check out some of the truly woketarded commentators for whom no amount of pandering is good enough, they can smell that it's just Larian box-ticking like a champ (I noticed a few quotes to that effect from some dyed-in-the-wool woketard comments on Reddit in the older thread about this game).

For even though that shit is in there, by far the biggest part of the game is just a rather good combat/exploration game (with generally above-average reactivity and C&C, and occasionally surprising and interesting, but mostly just average story and characterization). That's obviously where 90% of the company's efforts have gone, and they've done a pretty good job of it.

The white pill is that a lot of companies who are doing ESG-style bollocks do it either so they can carry on doing their beloved thing unmolested, or to get investment; the black pill is that they have to do it, so the woke memes spread willy-nilly. (Although the deeper white pill is that, for the vast majority of the population none of it really "takes," because the central flaw in a lot of woke stuff is their adherence to the primacy of social conditioning, which is a function of their deliberate ignorance of the foundational reality of genetics and race, which is a function of their egalitarianism - which is being leveraged by the usual suspects to demoralize and demographically marginalize Whites, which is being done to prevent Whites in their various countries from coming together collectively to advocate for their own interests, because the last time that happened it put the shits up the usual suspects and they've poured all their efforts since then into trying to prevent it from ever happening again.)

IOW, the problem is on a higher, political, financial and systemic level, not really with the companies themselves. If the people in charge at the political/economic level were Nazis most people would be pandering to that.

Humans are social animals, so we conform to the apparent elite harmonic to gain and maintain social status.

I already tried to refund this piece of shit but I've played more than 2 hours at that point. This is the last game I will buy from Larian.
Just had to see that bear sex scene, didn't you? :M

I would give it more of a chance, if I were you. There's some enjoyment to be had here for anyone, given the depth of the choices and consequences. You do you though.

That said, I don't blame you for never buying any Larian game after they bowed to ESG this much.
What is this ESG bullshit talk, this has almost ZERO impact on Larian since they're not a publicly traded company.
ESG score determines interest rates on loans, which ultimately affects everyone on earth - not just publicly traded companies.

I started liking Lae'zel when I figured out what they were going for with her. Astarion is just funny, I like his interjections. Karlach is fun and it's nice to have a good guy on the team, someone who doesn't constantly complain when you take a new sidequest.

Jaheira is cool so having her in the party since she became available has been a no-brainer. I'm trying to give the other companions a fair shot - Wyll is just dull though, and I'm trying to get into Yorkshire Wood Elf but something about him just makes me laugh too hard to take him seriously. "Ey up lass watch me back while I go through this portal to lift the shadder curse" hahaha wtf dude.

Can't get into Gale at all though, despite trying. He's just Alistair all over again - boring guy with a backstory that only makes him more boring the deeper you dig. Shadowheart was a non-starter for me as well, I couldn't find any reason to talk to her after the first couple camps because she was just too dull, to the point where when she announced she was leaving the party I had to stop and think for a second to remember that she was ever even part of my team in the first place.

I'm not even talking about the races. Tiefling girls can be super hot, but we get one covered in scars with a personality that feels completely out of place not only for her backstory, but for the world at large. No one in forgotten realms talks like her. Obviously there's no making a Githyanki hot, but there's really no excuse for the others.

If you think Lae'zel is meant to be a "girl boss" you really fail at reading even the most basic intentionality in writing. No wonder video game writing is often non-subtle - gamers can't even read the most basic cardboard cutouts right.
This. Laezel is the MOST OBVIOUS character - "she is young, but she will learn". When you have such an obvious and generic trope, and gamers still can't recognize it, I guess we shouldn't expect anything more complicated.
To be fair she looks like a withered 80 year old so I can understand the confusion.

Minthara is pretty bugged right now. None of her dialog makes sense. She references things that haven't happened yet. Mainly with Shadowheart and one or two other dialog options.
Going down the evil path has been lackluster so far. In fact, it cut more content than it opened up. You cut content from Wyll, Halsin, and Karlach too, with three companion quests gone, just to eventually get her in your party. Furthermore, she's a paladin, and there are already too many melee characters
