I'm still waiting for somebody to show me a gnomish heterosexual couple in the game.
Because there's like 7 gnome homo couples.

How do gnomes even breed? Do they have a secret gnome breeding island?

There are no Gnomes in this game. Only halflings pretending to be Gnomes but failing since they all look like halflings. I suspect that that even the dwarves in game are just stocky halflings who grew beards.

You can try, but honestly the first two games are not nearly as good as the third entry.

Everyone here complains about it just because it's popular, but the Codex is supposed to be about choice and consequences, and the truth is that there's way way more of that in BG3 than in the first two entries. Plus even though 5th edition is fairly simplistic and easy to cheese if you want to, the fact that it's true turn based combat puts it heads and shoulders above the originals imo. I'm sure some people like RTwP but I can't stand it, especially being shoehorned into a system that was designed to be turn based like AD&D 2nd edition.

BG1 and 2 are good but flawed games. BG3 is flawed too, but it succeeds at things that really matter - giving you a sense of agency in the world, tons of ways to approach situations (tactically and otherwise), and the ability to see the consequences of your decisions play out - far better than its predecessors.

That's why everyone here just complains about the game having gay people in it, because otherwise they'd have to admit that a popular game is actually good.

The game has gay people or is quite literally the gayest AAA game of all time?

Since my brother is gay I've come into contact with the gay scene and I was surprised how normal most of them are.

Im genuinely surprised when someone says "I have never met a gay person before " in 2023

Now I need to get her into BG1&2

Not as much as any GOTY in the last 10 years, which is a bit suspect.

Should probably wait a few months for the final Awards to trickle in but it seems like it's heading for a low water mark awards wise regardless.

You can always check our All Time Greats to see the top places have been occupied by Planescape Torment, Fallout 1/2/New Vegas, Arcanum, BG2, Vampire Masquerade, Deus Ex and Gothic 2.

We got the next Baldur's Gate with gay relationships just this year so that's out of the way.

There HAS been a Torment sequel but a) it sucked and b) no gay relationships. So there's one candidate for Swen's next outing.

The classic Fallouts got a bunch of sequels but again, no gay relationships in a single one of them so another candidate for a proper modern makeover.

Arcanum doesn't have any gay relationships either but I can't see Swen choosing that IP, there are others, more attractive ones.

As for Vampire, the sequel isn't cancelled after all and so we'll undoubtedly get gay relationships in Bloodlines 2. Swen isn't needed here.

Deus Ex is the same deal as Fallouts, a few sequels but no gay relationships. But Swen is more about them fantasies. SF doesn't seem to be his thing.

Gothic is an interesting case, we're getting the original remake, which will undoubtedly feature gay relationships so Swen could join that wave and make a gay relationship-centric Gothic 4, a proper one this time. With gay relationships.

BG3 is a great game, but I wouldn't put it with the classics myself. I've only played it once from start to end (and several co-op sessions that got near the end of chapter 1), so maybe my feelings will change after a replay or two (eventually).

Gay shit and all, it's less insulting of an RPG than whatever Bioware did with their games after D&D, along with many other developers. It has actual RPG mechanics and doesn't betray these principles in the hope of luring another CoD brainlet. It's a big fuck you to a decade+ of 'RPG' developers telling people, like those found here on codex, that "they're wrong and button=awesome is the real shit" and I'll absolutely celebrate it for that alone.

Even apart from that, it deserves a medal simply for completely shitting on Starfield and Todd.

Well D:OS 1 and 2 had actual RPG mechanics and TB combat too but they didn't sell 10 million in the first month.

The only reason BG3 got so ultra-hyped is because Swen added tryple-A production and truckloads of gayness to pander to graphicx brainlets and the journo class.
