Yeah, it's particularly bad when splitting the party up to avoid traps, it never seems to accept your first click. Had the entire party walk face-first into deathtraps while the designated rogue stands back and watches like three times now.

I haven't found a relevant bug report, so I issued a ticket for it. Hopefully it will be patched.
By the way, it seems like there's some kind of momentum or something. I've noticed that sometimes selecting a character takes like a quarter of a second or so, whereas in other times it's an instant thing--or the bug thing. Also, try clicking on the different portraits in quick succession for some time. If you do that and only that, the bug appears only once and then it stops appearing. As soon as you click elsewhere, begin to cast a spell, move a camera, etc. the bug sometimes reappears.
That lead me to believe the v-sync or playing the portrait-selection-voice-cue is the culprit. I tried to fiddle with it to no avail.

I think the additional clicks are needed if another character is executing an order but you are right that it could be related to the input queue getting jammed by too many inputs coming too fast.

Story and characters are dogshit, at least from the bit I played. It's all so "quirky and alt". I don't know if I am gonna push my luck any further with this game as I am a massive storyfagg and that seems to be the weakest point of the whole game. The world doesn't feel like it exists on its own, it's a theme park built just for you.

That sounds like DOS1 that I quit half way through because of that. Also never bothered playing DOS2 for same reason.

As someone who didn't really enjoy D:OS or D:OS 2, I think this is really good overall.

Story and characters aren't great but they're not generally offensively bad either, they're mostly fine. After initially thinking "oh god no here we go" when meeting the companions, I've warmed to most of them to some degree except for Gale, who sucks shit and is boring, and Wyll, who is just dull.

What about combat? Is it BG1/BG2 good? At least Pathfinder games good?
Can you skip through all the shitty dialogue and get lots of good combat?
Or this a storyfag game?

If you find Larian’s implementation of 5e decent, specifically it’s turn-based combat, then this game offers a lot of content. Act 1’s map provides ample exploration and dungeons. I am approaching 8-10 hours and I haven’t even touched the underdark/below grounds zones.

Further, there will be mods to shake up the game.

Jesus Christ I made the mistake of booting up the game again to meet yet another bullcrap within 2 minutes of playing. I've literally butchered Astarion on the spot and yet when some guy who's hunting him asks me about him, all of the fucking options assume he is in my party.

I'm pretty sure this is some scripting checks that need to be patched. I refuse to believe the game doesn't record it in the savegame if you've killed an npc as important as a party member.

Someone was saying some time ago, that he took Karlach to the party, and Wyll just acted like she isn't there.

Maybe both issues pertain to the same task, somewhere on a kanban board at Larian's office. But everyone is too drunk to work on it right now.

The token representative of 80% of the playerbase game has run it's course.
