As a great fan of the original Baldur's Gate, I decided that I'm gonna buy it, finish it (with all the side quests) and write the Codex Quickie Nr. 4 (or full fledged review perhaps, we'll see).
If Trent scrounges enough money and interest to exhume PS:T I am going to hold you personally responsible.

It could be two parts. One part being basically a comparison with the original (in terms of interface, new FMVs and so on), and the other part reviewing the new content.

Is anyone planning to make an impressions/review of this? I've never played BG and I'm not sure wether I should play this or the original with mods. I like that you can zoom in/out.
The new intro movies look like shit and are too cartoonish imo, and I'm skeptical to the new material.

So you're asking whether you should play the original which is cheaper and better, or should you pay for an overpriced hack job?

Make a new account and just start over.

Why? You obviously get blurry, pixelated view when you zoom in. And it is not like you HAVE to zoom in to see what's going on. Everything is clear from the normal perspective.

Well I wan't to play it in HD regardless and in certain moments I can't see certain details well unless I push my face up to the screen. Zooming in is nicer.

You don't need to set the widescreen mod to the full resolution of your monitor. I use 1280x800 on my 24" (1920x1200 native) and it looks great.

BGEE is incapable of HD.

I'm also curious what these "certain moments" and "certain details" specifically are.

The zooming would actually be a good addition if it was a crisp picture in the first place. As it is it's like making a blurry picture more pixelated.

I'm still amazed there's no option for resolution though, even the terrible Dark Souls port had one even if it didn't change the back buffer size.
