the forum looks fine now I don't even know what people are kvetching about anymore, only issues I see are ones involving missing features

But tagging currently uses the @, e.g.: @Twiglard ... ?
I mean for display. Not sure which is better.

The rationale behind making it bold (rather than treating as any other kind of link) is that this way the user receiving an alert can look quickly for that username. It gets difficult if the post contains links on its own.

If the @ is displayed, I guess it would ruin the joke for You .

  • Page numbers, or at least, last page number of a thread should be displayed in mobile forum view. So you know how big the threads are. It's surprising how often I know what the last page number of a thread I read was and knowing that X' thousand more pages have been added is useful.
    Done.
Is it? I don't see page numbers?

Or am I using the wrong theme?

Should there be a "@" included before tagged usernames, Shitter-style? Right now it's <b>User</b>, it can be <b>@User</b>.
That would be better, then you can see what's a real link and what's a link to a user. GitHub has the '@' too, so I'm quite used to it personally (and miss it when it's not there).

Can we please please have the alerts dropdown NOT display the already viewed pages? It's good the orange dot is there to tell you what's read, but it's still annoying and not as I remember old site working.
Similar request for the watched threads page, please make an option there to only show threads with unread messages.

The mobile version lacks the full string of forum and subforum links that show you where you are. When in a thread, these show at the top as well as bottom.

CAN NO LONGER RAPIDLY DEPLOY RATINGS BY JUST CLICKING ON THE ALREADY GIVEN ONES, IT'S A DISASTER.
This... actually has merit.

I mean, it also promotes groupthink as it makes it easier to +1 an existing rating that to give another one, but 80% of the time I want to rate a post with something, someone else already did.

Right now we have, again, two buttons for the same thing: a rating, and the counter for it. I think either the link should be removed from the counter leaving it just a number, or two buttons could have a different function, i.e. clicking on the rating could have you add your own to the post, and clicking on the counter could lead to who else gave the post that rating, just as it does now.

Since the double functionality of "
Brofist
Brofist" button was removed (by removing the description), it's the next natural step.

Edit: goddammit, the "
Brofist
Brofist" is back in full force.

mobile version needs intra-thread page navigation at the top of threads as well as bottom. Right now it’s just at the bottom.

edit: to be more specific, it’s the narrow mobile version. When in landscape mode the mobile version has page navigation on top as well bottom of threads.
I can't reproduce it by adjusting page width. See:

You showed a picture of the page numbers at the bottom of the thread, that's always worked in mobile. It was page numbers not showing at the top of the thread on mobile, narrow mobile in particular, that was not working. It has since been fixed.

The format of page navigation at the top of threads isn't great though, and I think you can collapse the row with page navigation and the row with "jump to new / unwatch" down to a single row. Right now those two rows take up a lot of space.

Instead of "<< < Prev X of Y Next > >>" you could just do "<< < X of Y > >>" eliminating the Prev and Next text and deleting the box elements so the single arrows sit on top of the background like the double arrows. Further, "Jump to New" can be shorted to "Newest" and place to the right of ">>", and "Unwatch / Watch" can be replaced with the Eyeball icon. The eyeball icon would be bold if the thread is already watched, and not bold if it isn't watched. Touch the eyeball to toggle the state.

I hope both outline around given ratings and the Brofist button aren't set in stone yet. Imo the first should be removed and the second replaced with something else, reworked somehow anyway.

Desktop, variable width small font: conversations with more than 5 people show the first 5 participant names and then it says "... and X more" and there is nothing to click to show the other participants. Also, when there is just 1 more, the "... and 1 more" string is likely longer than just showing their name :P

So I tried opening this site on a phone, since apparently its appearance is better on a phone. Taluntain I cannot see the number of posts in a thread when I am looking at the index of a page while on a phone.
ApDj3i4.png

These numbers are completely missing. If I am opening a new thread while on a phone, I need to open the thread and then click on the >> arrow to take me to the end, I cannot just select the last page in the thread. Nor can I jump forward or backward pages in increments larger than 1, without editing the URL to do so.

In earlier design after rating posts, your own and other ratings would get a white frame, now this frame is present from the start and it messes with my senses, did i rated this or not? This is an utter decline.

I dont see any real reason for the use of this "updated" design, Twiglard fix makes this shit somewhat bearable but it now looks like some weak imitation of the good old design and it feels like it belongs to some dying, half forgotten forum

I did some work on the rating list popup -- it's still worse than the old rating display because they're not sorted or grouped. But this should hopefully make it less awful.
  • Rating names are hidden so there's enough room even with lots and lots of ratings. Some ratings like the NPC have absurdly long names and tabs become unusable otherwise. And yes, this makes rating count hidden. :(
  • Clicking on the rating bar will now bring out a list of all ratings. Typical use-case is seeing how brofist/retarded split between party lines (for admins: this can be reverted in sv_contentratings_macros).
  • Individual rows (one per a person who's doing the rating) are now more compact.
  • The "all" tab has special styling applied to it to make it even more compact.

What do I click to test out giving the same rating? Clicking on the rating icon below the post brings up the rating list popup.
