Bottom 5 Worst RPGs You Ever Played

This thread is just another "most overrated CRPG" thread.
Much more interesting would be "worst games you have completed".

The games mentioned probably wouldn't be that different. People seldom finish games they truly find terrible.

I mean, if I had to choose between playing Ruins of Myth Drannor in its entirety and killing myself... well, I'd play the fucking game, but I'd probably hesitate for like half a second.

Worst RPG I have completed? NWN OC, worst game I have completed? Probably the Saboteur, granted my completionist approach to it probably had just as much to do with the experience as its blandness.

It's too hard to pick a worst 5. If I really hate a game, I won't play it for more than a few hours. And in that case, it feels unfair to call it the worst if I've only played it for two hours.

That said, I really didn't like:

Skyrim - bland, but I did squeeze 20 hours of fun out of it with Requiem.
NWN1 OC - bland.
NWN2 OC - even blander than the first.
Pillars of Eternity - bland, and offensively bad writing. I'm okay with shit writing as long as the game doesn't force it down your throat (ie. Skyrim), but Pillars does just that.
Shadowrun Returns - bland.

Honourable mention: The Witcher 3. Hated so much about it, but also put almost 70 hours into it and finished the game + first DLC, so...

4. MetalHeart - Replicants Rampage: at first glance it looks like Russian Fallout, but it's not. The gameplay is completely tedious and everything is janky as fuck. Setting is interesting, as are the visuals, but the actual game sucks.

That actually sounds exactly like Fallout 1/2

Yeah, the series totally sucked before Bethesda took over and did something good with it!

Hmmm... then I would go with this:
- Beyond Divinity (original was great though)
- Final Fantasy X (but I did like X-2)
- Forgotten Realms: Demonstone
- Neverwinter Nights
- Saturday Morning RPG

i lol'd at oblivion: nv. people aren't gonna like that one, there's a lot of love for fallout: gamebryo here

People like it DESPITE gamebryo. It is a good game despite Bethderp's shitty iteration of that engine.

As to the topic:

1.) Oblivion: It has no redeeming qualities. Castrated RPG systems in every regard, terrible UI, ugliest NPCs in the series, AI so idiotic it has been memed a million times, an idiotic story. This is a game made by retards for retards. For me what makes this even worse is that because of the blinders I was wearing after enjoying a lot of Daggerfall and Morrowind I bought this shit stain at full price. 50 Euro shekels down the drain for "enjoying" dumbfuck companion AIs complaining about getting hit by me during the "epic" battle of Quatsc... errr Kvatch were 3 guys take on 5 monsters.
2.) Fallout 3: Like Oblivion no redeeming qualities and it looks even uglier and it has by far the most retarded main story of any Bethcrap game I have played. At least I bought it for cheap on a fleamarket to try it out so not a big loss. The beginning and tutorial literally show you being pressed out of your mommies vagina and then leads you on through 30 minutes or so of unskippable tutorial for basic shit where you "grow up" over the different segments. This was so terrible that one of the most popular mod was editing this shit out.
3.) NWN OC: Similar to the above. Luckily this game has some good modules but my god the OC was so bad that I only remember spamming Wail of the Banshee and FoD on my Necro late game thanks to the retarded 5 second rest. Companions were pretty shit too due to derpy AI. Also I dislike single player D&D.
4.) Skyrim. A small step up from Oblivion in terms of presentation, atmosphere and gameplay. On the other hand, even more dumbed down RPG systems and some of the stories are so batshit retarded like the mage guild accepting you as the archmage even when you have no magical abilities outside of "Fus Ro Derp". Also cost me just about 5 EU bucks so while a waste it was not a big one. Last Bethshit game I ever played and ever will play and I will never touch anything by this turd company again. Like Oblivishit and Failderp 3 has an unskippable intro AGAIN. What is it with these sheisters and their crappy long unskippable tutorials? Both MW and DF had brief tutorials that you can get through in about 1-3 minutes if you know what you are doing.
5.) Dragon Age 2: Arguably the worst Bioware game and the final straw for me to never but a Biotard game again. Constantly copy&paste levels and enemies and maybe the worst cast of companions out of all BW game.

1. KotOR 2. Terribly paced, terrible story, terrible combat system with terrible encounter design. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.
2. Fallout 3. People call it Oblivion with guns, but that sounds a lot more appealing than the reality.
3. Path of Exile. The product of literal autists who thought grinding for 10k hours was the fun part of Diablo 2.
4. Dragon Age: Origins. Shallow and boring systems, endless trash encounters with RTwP, dating sim layered on top. Creatively bankrupt.
5. Skyrim. You can install 100 mods and it's still shit. Every design and writing decision was wrong.

seriously, why is Path of Exile so bad? I can play Grim Dawn endlessly (and in fact have, like 1200 hours so far), but I can't stand Path of Exile, but I really don't know why I hate it so much, I can't describe why...I know I don't like the graphics, but again not sure why, they just suck....everything sucks.

ut I can't stand Path of Exile,
Probably because of either camera being too close or really low hit feel/feedback bothers you.

Or you are a filthy casual that can't understand games systems and need to git gud.:smug:

It is a good game but I like Grim Dawn much more (just feedback is alone smashes PoE) and you can actually mod it to WH40K or Diablo 2.

Different tastes man. I really liked PoE, disliked Grim Dawn and abandoned it.

But let's see, did you play Grim Dawn first? I played PoE first. Maybe we just have a limited tolerance for learning grinding systems and getting into it. PoE's the first I liked, I even trashed my original Diablo 2 discs when I was younger lol

I played PoE well before GD. I bought GD on its release day. It is still on my HDD clocking at 1500 hours according to steam at this point with close to 10 characters max level and about half are well equipped.
I uninstalled PoE many months ago and was only sporadically playing it when a new league came out for the 2-3 years before that. Personally I always felt it was overrated. It is a decent game but people act like it is the be all and all of hack and slash games something I find highly disagreeable. The bloated skill tree alone makes it annoying, that every build will inevitably turn into a 2 or 3 button spam snoozefest outside of certain one shot bosses just put the final nail in the coffin for me alongisde the utterly moronic currency system which cannot be called bloated anymore. Swollen rotten on the verge of bursting carcass would be a more apt description.

DT II (1st one was decent tho)
HnoFT (I avoid JRPGs since that one)

NotB

That being said I enjoyed PoE 1 enough to finish it on PotD difficulty after more than 200h (re-started several times until I deciced to finish a playthrough). But I totally see why it is not considered great, and even considered shit by many.
lol, I literally have no idea what game any of those acronyms translate to

you are right I think the camera is way too close and I fucking hate that and it makes the game uglier to me..I hate too close camera in any game, I forgot how close it was in PoE since I have not played it in awhile, but that is probably one of the big issues with regards to why I find it so ugly and annoying to play.

I think probably PoE, and I kept putting off buying Grim Dawn simply because Action RPG's are not a genre of game I usually play or enjoy, but it was on sale and had high ratings so I decided to give it a chance once and I actually liked it..most Action RPG's I don't really like.

The worst crpg I've played for an extended amount of time is Planet Alcatraz. At the same time, I have rather fond memories of it because I worked on QA/loc for it and all the insane stuff that's in the game combined with really bad and mismatched translation for the build we've worked on made the experience hilarious (up to a point). But yeah, the gameplay is absolute dogshit and I had to play a real lot of it so that's my pick.

Other than that, I dunno. The most notable games that made me angry/butthurt are NWN1 and F3. Are they genuinely among the worst crpgs ever, though? Eh, probably F3, as it is really low IQ in most aspects.

I think I've simply forgotten all the trash-tier stuff I've encountered in the nineties and later identifying shite in advance got too easy. I see many people itt naming Dragon Age 2, for example. Like wtf, why would even play that game?

Bro, most losers here are only mentioning actually decent games just to be edgy.
You are not funny, folks, and never will be. Cease.
The thing is that sometimes technically decent games are the ones which make people the most angry. Obviously Oblivion, Fallout 3, NWN, Pillars of Eternity, etc. are not THE WORST GAMES EVAR but if you compare them to what came before, what you expected or what you were promised, then of course they make you angry and you dislike them a lot more than some abjectly awful piece of shit RPG released in Romania circa 2002. At the same time, I think my own reticence to name games which are fundamentally decent is due to not having played them recently. I had a lot more free time and as a result, patience, as a teenager, so I could spend dozens of hours playing mediocre games. I tried to play unmodded Oblivion a couple of years ago and I tapped out after about 90 minutes, and I'm not even one of the people who really HATES that game.

I don't really understand the hate for Neverwinter Nights. Sure, the base campaign was thrash, I never managed to push far into it before descending into coma...

But the system itself, it's modability and openness unleashed enourmous wave of creativity in people. Lots of quality modules have been created and new ones are still being released.

I spent probably around 200-250 hours playing the game with around 1% of that on the OC. If you take a moment to search for good stuff, you'll find plenty.

A system doesn't make a game. You have to judge the (vanilla) product taken as a whole.

And in that regard, the whole NWN series is mediocre to bad with the exception of MotB. At least as far as I'm concerned.

True. But the campaign editor was also part of the whole (I've read it was created first, Bioware only added the OC because they feared the campaign editor would not sell without some presentation of its capabilities). And the products of this editor entertained me for a longer period of time than probably any other RPG.
