My issue with CP2077 storyline is the horrible usage the main character must have something special or the circlejerk mcguffin, instead of being another fucker in the world that rise up through actions that respect that world rules. The setting already has an interesting structure you don't need to add retarded necromancer chips with Keanu Reeves inside.

The real question is how much was cut, because CDPR said at one point you could choose between putting the chip in Jackie or in yourself, which implies we have maybe 25% of the intended game

new crafting along with lvl scaling means that its better not to craft at all, but rather lvl up so that enemeis drop highest tier weapons at you. Same for iconics. Also iconic appear not to have mod slots, while normal variants do?
They still have some mod slots like scopes, but tbh the mods available are pretty weak. The Iconics are often much stronger than any modded version of a weapon can be.

Probably a whole lot given the original was meant to be an actual ambitious RPG where you could choose class, your childhood inspiration (Adam Smasher, Morgan Blackhand and Johnny Silverhand) and branching narrative storyline.
But as much I love to shit on the decision of adding Keanu in mid developing cycle, the only thing it could have influenced was the linear storyline. Now systems, itemization and so on? Thats on CDK devs being fucking incompetent cunts and not even taking notes on the original system where the game is based of and wanting to add a retarded Open World in a game where the whole strong perks is around planning, buying the right gear for the job and building contacts.

And I end my rant with GTA niggers deserve the rope.

its the other way around, chip was supposed to be towards the end but they liked keanu so much that they started rewriting everthing

I remember them bragging about how they greatly expanded Keanu's role after initial voice acting.
We should've known that meant every bit of RPG they were aiming for was out the window.

The more I think about it, the more the game should have been like Payday missions where you launch procedurally generated heists from V's apartment or something after scrolling through a gig list on an ingame website. The open world contributes literally nothing. What the fuck was with the darknet BD guy they used for ten seconds and never mentioned again? You could have just had "V" be the player's username on the darknet and then your home computer is how you boot into Deus Ex-style self-contained missions with your chosen companion as backup and if you ever run out of money to pay your apartment rent you get a Game Over

I don't really get the motive for this shit. "Hey, you know this game that I don't like. It would've been better if they made it like this game that I like instead of the game that I don't like. Then I could like all the games."

Yes. We bought this game and not the other game. Yet we don't go into the thread for the other game and start posting shit like: "Hey, this game sucks. Let's talk about how much better it'd be if it wasn't this game that sucks, but instead like this other game that doesn't suck. That's really interesting, don't you think?"

No, Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 is not the “greatest comeback”

September 23, 2023 John Papadopoulos

A few days ago, CD Projekt RED released Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 and to the surprise of no one, the media immediately started overhyping it. A lot of the media calls it “one of the greatest comebacks” and I’m left puzzled. How on Earth is this a comeback? And if this is the greatest comeback, what can we say about No Man’s Sky or Final Fantasy XIV? That they are the “super duper D comebacks“?
For starters, let’s see what Update 2.0 brings to the table. According to CDPR, Patch 2.0 revamps the police system and brings major Combat AI overhauls. Furthermore, it adds over 100 new items – weapons, cyberware & fashion, new story quests and gigs, as well as endless dynamic events & missions. CDPR has also introduced vehicle combat and mounted weaponry, redesigned cyberware and perks. The team has also increased the level cap, and added all-new relic skill tree and abilities.
So, we can all agree that Cyberpunk 2077 now has more content than before. It also has a functional police system (which should have been there from the get-go). Vehicle combat and mounted weaponry are also a welcome addition. All in all, this is a more polished version of CP2077 with more content. But is it an incredible comeback?

Let’s start with the obvious. Cyberpunk 2077 is still NOWHERE CLOSE to what CD Projekt RED promised in 2018. Back then, CDPR described the game as an “open world, narrative-driven role-playing game set in the universe of the classic pen & paper RPG system, Cyberpunk 2020” that would offer “an interactive dialogue system that gives them greater narrative agency.” These two things combined suggested that your choices would have a major impact on the story, similar to what we got in The Witcher 3. The main story remains the same and your choices have minimal impact on it. The main missions also remain the same, and most of them do not provide alternative ways to complete them. This was one of the things that impressed everyone in the E3 2018 Demo. So, the game is still nowhere close to its initial pitch.
Now I’m not downplaying CD Projekt RED here. The team has done an excellent job. With the addition of Path Tracing, it was able to surpass the graphics of the Gamescom 2018 Demo. And yes, the game is in a way better state than its original version.

HOWEVER, this overhaul is nowhere close to what Hello Games did with No Man’s Sky. It’s also nowhere close to what Square Enix did with Final Fantasy XIV. FF 14: A Realm Reborn is a completely different game than its original version. On the other hand, Cyberpunk 2077 plays exactly the same as before.
Realistically, if I had to compare Cyberpunk 2077 Version 2.0 with another game, that’d be Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Battlefield 4 or Fallout 76. These games launched with major issues but over time, their teams were able to significantly improve them. And that’s it. Hell, Fallout 76 may be a bigger comeback than CP2077 as Bethesda implemented human NPCs, something that completely changed the way you play the game.
I get it that Cyberpunk 2077 is the “next big thing for clicks“. I also know that everyone loves a comeback story. But let’s be realistic here. There is nothing wrong with calling Cyberpunk 2077 what it really is; a more polished and less buggy version with some additional content. It’s a solid game. But the “greatest comeback in video games“? Well… as the boss of one of our favorite fighting games says… don’t make me laugh.

I was defending pre-Phantom Liberty 2077 literally in this thread. I just think that during development the game was originally intended to be like Thief or Oblivion, which would explain the real-time clock, food, companions, etc. even though there are no NPC schedules or immersive sim elements. I think Far Cry 2077 is a good game and only experienced one bug that broke Breaking News, which is ironic. The actual game we got makes no sense as a cohesive product unless the original vision was completely different. But we'll never know unless a pre-reboot Cyberpunk beta leaks

That doesn't make sense because they're using almost the same engine as Witcher 3 and it's totally different from Thief or Oblivion,

I wouldn't go as far as that but certainly having a few big hubs with lots of detail a la Deus Ex would have resulted in a vastly superior game with better designed quests and environments. The immersive sim approach to player freedom is superior every single time and keeps the fanbase clean of LARPers.

how is this game only 56GB on my drive?
Too long in development, they didn't start out aiming to make it a 150 gb game.

IIRC it was bigger before so presumably some post-release optimizations. Maybe related to dropping HDD support and leveraging decompression on the fly.

There's this new minigame too. Seems to be a big hint for the FF06B5 mystery.

Already solved, but still unclear if this is all considering how it ends. Pawel's past statements have also been vague but they seemed to imply there was more to it. If you revert the game to patch 1.66 the mattress isn't there.

(apparently if you just want the car you can skip to the mattress part)

Because bugs can be fixed with relatively low costs.. the true problem was how fucking shit the game was and how much they lied about what they were giving people..
The discrepancy in the detail between the run up to the heist mission and everything further in the main quest tree is impossible to hide.

I remember the trailers hyping up "so many choices.. so many outcomes.. every decision you make has a conse-" All lies.
Then Pawel running to twitter "Guys guys the reactivity is there.. you just don't know cause we don't communicate in-game well!!!" ..

Dust has settled..it's now been documented - all possible choices in the base game.. 98% of dialogue choices do literally nothing, don't even set a flag, the left over 1.99% are meaningless changes, (Swaps a response later or swaps an NPC).
Otherwise the story is 100% linear up until the very ending, everything plays out the same minus one choice basically.

Remember all the shilling for origin paths? Or how 90% of the trailers were actually just showing a "flash forward" cinematic in the game.. so the trailer looked like it was showing a ton of content but all of that was actually just a bullshot cutscene.. lmfao

"b-b-but muh Takamura Live or Die decision!!!". Yikes.. What a trash fire.
