Seeds comes just from learning 2nd level of alchemy rather than the apprenticeship. I started getting them after learning it from the alchemist who gives you the bloodfly medicine.
You can learn how to collect the seeds for free on lvl 1 alchemy you just have to do alchemist aprentice quest he will teach you how to get seeds so you can do his quest.
You dont even need level in alchemy to take seeds, I had 0 and after I accpeted quest to take seeds for alchemist I could take the seeds from dead animals.

Can somebody please tell me where the arena in slums is and how can I enter it? Do I need to do some quest first?

EDIT: Nevermind, I've just found it. Look for Alena in the slums, she'll tell you what to do. I don't know if it's required, but I encountered her during night. She should start the dialogue herself.

There's a great staff just outside silbach in the cave full of undead near Rita's vineyard. Strength DOES boost staff damage, and weapon training affects your hit percentage just the same. It's just magic damage rather than blunt/slashing
I've just done some testing with marvin mode, neither strength nor mana increases damage dealt by the staves.
Aren't they a dex weapon ? I think that the damage scales with the stat they need for using.

What are the other apprenticeship options in the city? I just got the citizenship completed last night.

Alchemist does seem kinda tempting to skip the 3k requirement for max level alchemy. Gold seems a fair bit scarcer than in NOTR base, though maybe that's because I just haven't found good money making methods yet.
There's a butcher, blacksmith, locksmith and the bowyer woman who also offer apprenticeships. No idea if they offer anything besides buying relevant items at a premium.

The chap that gives you the citizenship also gives you a list with all the possible apprenticeships.

Ah, stopped playing last night almost as soon as I'd finished the quest. I'll have to check the options out when I play later.

I guess it's a bit of a long term/short term thing. Can you easily make more than 3k gold in the long-term with one of the other options vs the short term saving for alchemy upgrade.
Same here, decided to get 3 hours sleep just after i took the citizenship. Main problem of the game is that there is not enough gold, and in a cheap way. For example i make deal for some chap that brings him 18k per week and he was very grateful....thus giving me 45 gold lol. Was expecting to get at least 200-300 maybe 1k for all the running around. At this point i just can't see how i could buy expensive shit like rings, amulets or good armour. Picklocked two thirds of the city and made like 300 gold and maybe 600 in expensive gold shit, but without a fence it is worthless. That shit really kills the pace of the game.

On the contrary, that's major incline. It's been a long while since I played an RPG where I wasn't swimming in gold – this game has a great in-game economy.

Not really,it is greatly unrealistic lol. You sell shit for one tenth of its value, also quests give you cheap rewards that doesn't make sense just so the player doesn't have money. Gothic is always about exploration and reward for it,it shit to explore everything and still be poor lol.

There is spreadsheet with all items, weapons, consumables etc. if somebody is interested but only in Polish. It's still in WIP.

From what i can see there is a lot of bonuses from reading books and drinking alcohol :smug:

Yeah, I was surprised when I read a random book I found and gained +1 strength.

I've had a ton of strength and health bonuses from "varied diet" as well.

That's true, there are some strange ways the game restricts you from becoming rich. As much as I like if a game forces me to use my resources with responsability and carefulness I can't understand why I have to sell all the stuff I find for such horribly low prices. It makes no sense. And when I noticed that for killing the oh so dreaded "disturbing beast" I'll get lousy 100 bucks, I was very disappointed.

They absolutely do not scale with anything. Here's a video, first I give myself 100% weapon proficiency so that every hit becomes a "crit", I beat a first beggar and then cheat my mana, strength and dexterity to 300 each, I attack another beggar and he takes the same amount of damage. If the staves damage actually scaled with stats the guy would've dropped in a hit or two.

The alternative is to have money be a non-issue, like in 99% of RPGs, where their vendors all sell dogshit so as to not upset the balancing. Here, you have vendors actually carry great stuff, and you need to slowly save up for the thing you want, even prioritize between getting a new armor or a new skill level. I think this offers much more depth, and even satisfaction. You can amass the money you need (either slowly by finding it or selling all the garbage you collect, or quickly by using some of the one-time money infusion things in the game, such as the fighting arena in the slums. You can easily get 1k+ gold there even at low levels), you just never have it in abundance, which, IMO, is quite realistic for a literal washed up refugee who walks around the countryside and whacks all the wildlife he sees

I took a look at that spreadsheet and confirmed: 1H OP. They deal the same or more(!) dmg than 2H while attacking faster and having smaller requirements. Weird af coming from people who recognized DEX was OP in the base game, wanted to fix that and then made the same mistake. As is, there is literally no reason to go for 2H (or STR for that matter). I don't know what to think of this.

Is it worth wasting more than 3k to learn alchemy (level 2 and 3) or i can learn it for free somewhere or at least with discount?

Btw the guy who teaches extraction to 90% is a ship master\builder named Dack in the docks. About time to start mining all the ore veins.
I just wasted 2k gold to get pickpocketing to max only to find out that the high level pickpockets give even less gold that the simple ones lol. Yeah top tier design of running around and getting 9 gold per pickpocket after spending 30 lp and 2k gold lol.
There's like 200+ pickpockets available in the game and they generally give 20-30 gold minimum counting the little bits of jewelry you can sell. It's definitely weaker than in gothic 2 where it gave you xp and a bunch of perma potions but there are still one or two unique rewards hidden around. It's just no longer a must-have skill on every character.

Danikas's screenshots reminded me of this, but as an FYI for all of you playing with the DX11 mod:

Within the DX11 options (F11 in-game), if you increase the brightness ever so slightly from the default 1.0 to say 1.1, it seems to activate the DX11 lighting. Idk whether there's a bug or what, but I noticed how flat all the lighting looked in DX11 before I knew about this. Once you change the brightness, I think there's aspects of the lighting that are activated.

2h has better range I believe. Though that doesn't really make up for speed and damage in most cases.

Edit: also looking at that spreadsheet, the highest strength 2h weapon goes up to 240 damage, 1h is 220. So 2h is technically king damage wise.

What a great total conversion those polish modders released for all the Gothic community! I'm having fun like a fucking child!
I'm going to explore the entire map before deciding to join a faction like in the old games and kill everything is moving in the forest. It's always the best way.

By the way, do you know what purpose have the lurkers nest you find in lurkers coast and around the city? I destroyed a lot of them but nothing happened and they drop nothing...

You might want to rethink that strategy. Money is really tight in this game, and everything you can pull out of dead critters counts.
