You might want to rethink that strategy. Money is really tight in this game, and everything you can pull out of dead critters counts.
I learned how to take almost all kind of skin and trophies in Silbach and a little more from the hunter in the city. Extraction proficiency is at 91% and I'm going to be unstoppable.
The only creature I can't beat at the moment is a nasty skeleton shadowbeast. Actually I'm level 19 and I don't know what faction I'm going to join. Probably the guards.

Besides hunting trophies and seeds from the beasts and ore from the mines, do I miss something else if I explore the all map?

I'm not a fan of the randomized chest minigame after you reload.
At this point they could just let it cost you 3 lockpicks to open a chest and the number of required lockpicks sinks when you increase your skills.
Minigame is basically useless now.

if the combos didn't change there would be 0 reason to increase dex or learn higher levels of lockpicking. just bypassing the minigame altogether would be pretty dull, but if that's what you prefer then learn circle 1 magic and find the lockpick rune

As Gothic II is my all-time favorite game, I should be all over this. But for some reason I just can't summon the motivation. I think I've got a deep-rooted aversion to fan fiction & 'unofficial stuff' in general.

Never even touched a mod in any of my 15+ Gothic II playthroughs.

Help. :|

game is absolutely without question superior to gothic 2 - let alone the abominations that piranha bytes made afterward - in every way

note: gothic 2 is also my all-time favorite game, maybe tied with deus ex and vtm: bloodlines.

Aren't they a dex weapon ? I think that the damage scales with the stat they need for using.
They absolutely do not scale with anything. Here's a video, first I give myself 100% weapon proficiency so that every hit becomes a "crit", I beat a first beggar and then cheat my mana, strength and dexterity to 300 each, I attack another beggar and he takes the same amount of damage. If the staves damage actually scaled with stats the guy would've dropped in a hit or two.

I have a vague memory of those edits needing to have a change trough trainer. You should try giving your shit trough the 'insert ch' chap.

What a great total conversion those polish modders released for all the Gothic community! I'm having fun like a fucking child!
I'm going to explore the entire map before deciding to join a faction like in the old games and kill everything is moving in the forest. It's always the best way.

By the way, do you know what purpose have the lurkers nest you find in lurkers coast and around the city? I destroyed a lot of them but nothing happened and they drop nothing...
A chapter 2 quest by the hunter in the east gate, the one that comes to stay in the tent during the night

Gothic I & II are almost 20 years old and they are games pretty unique in their design, exploration and character progression. If you want to feel the same experience but you don't want to start another game on Gothic 2, mods and total conversion are really interesting. Expecially if they are made by talented people.
Legend of Asshun and Archolos really can be considered like original Gothic games. The first could be a spin-off and the last could be a prequel.
But i play them not just for the story but to have the same experience like I was playing Gothic 2 for the first time. And they works really well!

Minigame is basically useless now.

There are plenty of lockpicks in the game and they are dirt cheap, like 5 shekels. There are spells that open chests as well. Having no issue opening shit with first level of lockpicking so far.

You gotta get over that and stop putting these so-called "professionals" on a pedestal, especially when it comes to game writing. Judge the fiction by its own merits. In this case, Archolos is incredibly faithful to the established lore in the Gothic series, and has often times surpassed it in terms of presentation.

Stop being a fool and play this awesome game.

Had more fun with this than with whatever Piranha made since G2 Notr. Fans proved they can do shit right and they do it expecting nothing in return. Projects like these deserve your love and support.

I'll take fan work over another shitty kickstarter scam or AAA globohomo churning out the same bland copy pasted open worlds or souls likes.

I love how you have to do more manual work in this game like picking up dung, cleaning floors and sawing wood.
For Silbach they basically took Lobarts farm and made a whole chapter about it.
Great stuff!

Nice, i just upgraded my freshly bought mail armour, also in dark forest during quest with Sunder you can loot cool belt that gives you +5 defence against blunt and arrows and if you have mail armour additional + 5 to everything.
Sadly skellies can still fuck me up in 2 shots

That's a bug, then, I've reported it.
I have a vague memory of those edits needing to have a change trough trainer. You should try giving your shit trough the 'insert ch' chap.
One of the devs commeneted my video saying that it's ineed a bug and they will fix it asap. I think that the staves can be pretty hilarious once they fix the scaling, they are extremely long allowing you to get some free hits against enemies, because the AI wasn't designed to handle such long weapons, have great armor penetration and deal magic damage, which is generally the least resistant damage type in the game. For example, frogmen have something around 100 resistance to blunt and blades, but only 35 resistance to magic, so something like "Judgement of the stars" bypasses their defences entirely.

By the way, do you know what purpose have the lurkers nest you find in lurkers coast and around the city? I destroyed a lot of them but nothing happened and they drop nothing...
I guess that you have found the nests that hunter Carden from Silbach has asked you to destroy. Although he only asks you to destroy the ones around the coast, where the smugglers dumped you off their ship. I have no idea what is the deal with the nests around the city.

I took a look at that spreadsheet and confirmed: 1H OP. They deal the same or more(!) dmg than 2H while attacking faster and having smaller requirements. Weird af coming from people who recognized DEX was OP in the base game, wanted to fix that and then made the same mistake. As is, there is literally no reason to go for 2H (or STR for that matter). I don't know what to think of this.
2h has better range I believe. Though that doesn't really make up for speed and damage in most cases.
Edit: also looking at that spreadsheet, the highest strength 2h weapon goes up to 240 damage, 1h is 220. So 2h is technically king damage wise.
I've already talked about it in other Gothic related threads, but yes, due to how things work in this game two handed weapons are all around inferior to one handers. I straight up tell people to not play with two handers unless they have at least some experience with the game or want to gimp themselves on purpose. To put it shortly - the speed penalty for two handers is just insane and breaks everything. Thanks to it you will be taking hits much more often, having fewer opportunities to attack and the combat will be much clunkier in general. The biggest problem is a very slow recovery after dodging, which makes fighting certain animals and groups of enemies a pain in the ass, it's so bad that certain beasts can basically "infinite" you. You have to keep dodging to defend against their attacks, but the recovery is so slow that they start another attack before you can recover, so you have to dodge again to not get hit and this can go on forever until you allow them to hit you and break the loop, lurkers are probably the best example of this.

Also, a good portion of various tech I've shown in my videos in this thread is only really possible with one handed weapons, because the two handers are just too slow to be able to do anything. There's some interesting stuff you can do exclusively with two handed weapons, but it does not compensate at all for the advantages that one handed weapons have. If you can beat something with two handers, than I'm sure as hell that you will have a much easier time beating it with one handers. Personally, I think that two handers need to deal at least double the damage that one handers of similar level do to even have a chance to compete with them, or their animations need to be redone entirely, because the vanilla ones are just trash.

Very sad that this issue almost never gets adressed in the mods. Despite being a pile of shit Returning actually had a fix for it, it introduced master tier animations for all weapon types, which unlock once you reach 90% weapon proficiency, at that point two handed weapons became significantly faster, not as fast as the one handers, but fast enough to not feel like an idiot while trying to fight, the dodge recovery became significantly shorter too, and generally two handed weapons in that mod dealt at least 100 more damage per hit than the one handers of similar level, so the difference in damage was big. 20 damage difference is nothing, when you factor in that melee damage also depends on your strength, so being able to hit 3 times for 220+your strength and having an easier time to do so is much better than hitting once for 240+your strength damage. In NoTR this was especially noticeable with Beliar's claw, which was so busted that it made two handers completely obsolete.

I'm very into cock and ball torture
I joined the merchant's guild as a crossbow user, does anyone know if I miss on relevant master trainers or recipes?

The game is excellent so far, not to mention that bugs are exceptionally rare and when they happen instead of game breaking they look like this:
You don't say..

What I don't understand is why the newsposters are playing with their genitals instead of posting about this extraordinary incline.
