The fundraiser is for the long-term development over the next year, at least, it won't all be blown over the course of 2 months. And most of it will go towards paying the server expenses and hiring external help for XF development that we can't do on our own, so this isn't really money for any one of us. DU and Infinitron are both technical-minded as well; DU coded the whole integration of the site and forums and all the backend here. The problem is, XF2 is all OOP and DU can't into OOP, otherwise we would have been done with the move to XF2 a long time ago, I expect.

Anyway, we've brought the Codex this far, so I'd say that our track record is pretty good.

I don't know whether to feel insulted or flattered that you'd take my posts on this thread seriously.

It's true. Sadly, I only have so many hours at my disposal every day and I'm working on the Codex and DAC in addition to my own site right now so it's pretty hectic. That said, anyone is welcome to take up the challenge of updating it.
have you considered doing meth to get more hours per day?

Also DarkUnderlord said 5K in the OP but the drive is for 6K. Where is that extra 1K going? We all assume its hookers and blow but a concise accounting would be nice. I don't trust anyone from the Southern Hemisphere so a clarification from Taluntain is needed.

The extra $1k is because I'm lazy and we usually have an annual fund-raiser for $6k.

Also, in the interests of transparency:

Is there any donation amount which will see Crispy removed as shoutbox moderator?
How about $1K
In a single donation?
Sure, why not
If there was a $1k single donation to our current server drive, then yes, I would remove Crispy as shoutbox moderator.
Wow, butthurt sure is at a premium these days.
Very well. I will donate $1K if you agree to remove all of Crispy's shoutbox moderator powers, and agree that neither you nor everybody else will ever give Crispy, or any of his alts, shoutbox moderator powers again.
DU, I want half.
That is the price of your harassment
Hey if I get 500 bucks out of it I'll happily give up Shoutbox moderator powers.
I like the idea of helping Codex, I don't like the idea of helping you.
Whether you like it or not, if you pay the $1000.00, I'm getting half of it.
Well, I can't help that, but sounds like a waste of good funding.
:hmmm:

I agree to this. $1k single donation, Crispy gets half. For the greater good of the Codex.

By the way, since we are upgrading, how about a new feature:

Threads with most activity/posts per week. You can do this say every Friday and cache the results to not load the db.
Than one could see that BG3 thread grew 579 pages in a week and avoid it...
This would be a moderately complex query with a JOIN.

Something like

select count(*)
from posts
where thread_id <=== HERE would be an inner/outer join on the threads table
group by DATE(timePosted)
order by DATE(timePosted) desc
limit 7

Of course that would be just spit out the number of posts. But you can add the links and maybe even use xenforos styling engine or just dump the links to rpgcodex.net/pop

xenforo has cache support out of the box, the admin can enable it if they want

In the post brofist era we need someway to see the most [insert button here] posts we have made.
That user stat page is near useless due to this.

We could also have a stats page akin to the ignore list to see who has received and who has given most of a single rating.

I recall lukaszek sharing those statistics some time ago, so it's definitely possible to track 'em forumwide.
