Who needs a grand, global conspiracy when there is enough people with interests who see an opportunity to seize?
It isn't about seizing stuff, not at the root. The true motivation is nihilism.

Ayn Rand nailed the motivation: "They do not want to own your fortune, they want you to lose it; they do not want to succeed, they want you to fail; they do not want to live, they want you to die; they desire nothing, they hate existence, and they keep running, each trying not to learn that the object of his hatred is himself . . . . They are the essence of evil, they, those anti-living objects who seek, by devouring the world, to fill the selfless zero of their soul. It is not your wealth that they’re after. Theirs is a conspiracy against the mind, which means: against life and man."
Ah yes that's not a hypocritical crazy person rant at all.

After scaring away third parties with arbitrary censorship demands, and canning successful studios to focus on walking simulators (even the fucking Wolverine game is one!) and always online shooter live service games, Sony CEO claims "I think it’s massively important that PS Studios develops games in various genres and the family market is really important for us to focus on". Literally DSP tier strategy.
TBH, that's the newly installed CEO trying to undo the damage caused by Jim Ryan, the previous CEO. He was the one who approved going all in with western walking sims while nuking the Japanese studios and buying Bungie and other studios (Firewalk among them) for obscene amounts of money that didn't make sense back then and make less sense even now in hindsight.

Perhaps the game would still be alive today if it was filled with waifus.
Honestly, she's still a 6/10 design at best.

0/10 for being a nigger.
Not to mention it looks like sheeeeit.
Though not as worse as a Debra Wilson tier video game nigger character.

There's a grand irony to this when you realize that Sony was the same company that gave Bernie Stolar the boot for doing insane shit like this during the early days of the PS1. Hell, this isn't the first time they did this. Back when they announced the PS1 at E3, they famously undercut the released Sega Saturn by making it easy to develop for (the Saturn was infamously difficult to develop for, more on that later) and announcing that they would release it for $299 as opposed to the Saturn's $399. Eleven years later at E3, Sony shot themselves in the foot by announcing that the PS3, which was infamous for being difficult to develop for, would cost $599. You could accurately call Sony a schizophrenic company.

Should've stuck making tape decks and TVs and left gaming to the gamers. They were pretty good at consumer electronics before that "playstation" cancer.

She's speedrunning a lolcow status at this rate, good god!
We really need an infiltrator on her twitter feed, just imagine the untapped gold that must be on there.
Why stop there? You should start dating her. Imagine all the things she'll tell you in the bedroom.
That can be a possible course of action too.

I use a Sony Bravia for my main television. Ironically, I have a Nintendo Switch connected to it, while the PS3 is hooked to another brand. Before you ask, yes, it can enhance the quality of PS5 games.

I would have bought a Panasonic instead of another Sony if they were sold in North America.

Remember guys, the Concord lulz have yet to end. Apparently they did a Concord short for that Netflix show "Secret Level".

Imagine paying for that for a game that shut down within two weeks after launch and before that aired, lol

some retards on /v/ started making fan art of some concord characters, mainly the bootleg ramona flowers alien-cat thing (because of furries, obviously... 4chan boards are full of furfags and xeno/monster-fuckers now)

kinda funny a game having a resurgence of fan art only because it died

Imagine making a game that's so bad Sony has its people delete it from your console by hand.
People who buy it digitally get a refund, so I think it’s reasonable for Sony to take the game back (in this case, they ‘help’ you delete it).

Also, contrary to the headline, it's not unprecedented. Has happened before with other games.

Beating dead hose continues

Former Microsoft Games Studios executive producer Laura Fryer

Concord failed because the culture of the studio made them unable or unwilling to see and fix its problems. Sadly, reality-driven game development isn't a new story and confounds many game developers. The Overwatch model was a success, but gamers evolved, and Concord needed to evolve with them. We faced similar issues with Vanguard, a game that aspired to compete with World of Warcraft. I also discuss Gotham City Impostors, which faced challenges with its characters and pricing.
[00:00:00] Introduction to Concord’s Failure

  • Overview: The video begins by detailing the rapid decline of “Concord,” a game that was shut down just 12 days post-launch.
  • Statistics: Despite a hefty investment exceeding $250 million, the game struggled to attract players, peaking at fewer than 1,000 concurrent users.
  • Initial Expectations: Concord was anticipated to be a blockbuster, drawing heavy inspiration from the success of Overwatch. The developers had high hopes for its performance in the competitive gaming market.

[00:01:10] Market Evolution and Adaptation

  • Changing Market: The gaming market underwent significant changes during the development of Concord. Trends shifted, and new competitors emerged.
  • Overwatch’s Influence: Initially, Concord aimed to emulate Overwatch’s success, but failed to pivot as the market evolved.
  • Adaptation: The video underscores the necessity of staying attuned to market trends and being agile enough to adapt development strategies accordingly. This includes understanding player preferences and technological advancements.

[00:02:31] Comparison with Vanguard

  • Vanguard’s Failure: The video draws parallels between Concord and another failed game, Vanguard, which also suffered from an inability to adapt to market dynamics.
  • Learning from Competitors: Emphasizing the importance of competitive analysis, the video suggests that developers should actively play and study rival games to glean insights and stay competitive.
  • Player-Centric Development: Success hinges on developing games with a player-first approach, incorporating feedback and preferences from the gaming community throughout the development process.

[00:04:00] Impact of Broken Feedback Loop

  • Internal Issues: Firewalk Studio, the team behind Concord, faced severe internal challenges, including a toxic work culture that stifled creativity and collaboration.
  • Talent Drain: The toxic environment led to the departure of key talent, which further hampered the game’s development.
  • Creative Dialogue: The video highlights the critical role of a healthy feedback loop and open creative dialogue within the development team. Without it, innovation and problem-solving are severely compromised.

[00:07:01] Character Design and Target Audience

  • Inspirational Characters: Characters need to be more than just visually appealing; they must inspire and connect with the target audience on a deeper level.
  • Audience Feedback: Gathering and integrating feedback from the target audience is crucial for refining character design and ensuring it resonates with players.
  • Example: Gotham City Impostors is cited as a successful example where character design was closely aligned with audience expectations, contributing to its positive reception.

[00:08:00] Pricing Strategy and Market Reception

  • Pricing Challenges: Concord faced significant hurdles with its pricing strategy, which may have contributed to its poor market reception.
  • Free-to-Play vs. Paid: The video explores the advantages and disadvantages of different pricing models, such as free-to-play versus paid games. Each model has its own set of challenges and benefits.
  • Gotham City Impostors: Once again, Gotham City Impostors is mentioned as an example of a game that successfully navigated its pricing strategy, balancing player expectations with revenue goals.

Implying that the characters were visually appealing in the first place.

Didn't Panasonic suffer a significant quality drop in very recent years?
