who's with me? Hóngwèibīng LETS GO
I'm mildly hopeful that the focus on doing one expansion a year and then scattered splat-DLC will be decent. Doesn't make a difference to pirates, but if you're buying it then splat-DLC is theoretically easier to take it or leave it (Not missing out on any major mechanics if you don't buy it, but if you do then it's presumably because you intend to play the regions it covers so you get more specific events and shit) while the annual expansion's the main target for big shit. Not entirely convinced it'll actually work out that way, but it seems like a slight sign that Paradox may realize they're overdoing it. Then again I look at Stellaris and it feels like even the meaty expansions don't really do much that I care about so I dunno. It's kind of underwhelming that they haven't yet announced a fully fledged expansion and I'm hoping they won't steer 100% of the development into developing these minuscule flavor packs because at the end of the day, most of that can already be modded in with ease. I do like the fact that you can finally leave your original lands behind as a Norse ruler because it was always somewhat of a hassle to get rid of the tribal provinces.

They've said that you'll assimilate, so there must be some mechanic to do so.We'll find out soon enough tomorrow, but I wonder if they'll add some new melting pots (i.e. Anglo-Norse and Norse-Gaels) with this DLC.
Seems like a logical addition, but wouldn't they advertise it within the feature breakdown for the DLC if that were the case?
But they've also mentioned Normandy where you do already have a melting pot culture to represent that assimilation. They've said that you'll assimilate, so there must be some mechanic to do so.We'll find out soon enough tomorrow, but I wonder if they'll add some new melting pots (i.e. Anglo-Norse and Norse-Gaels) with this DLC.

Also, the "big" CK2 expansions that were released about a year apart were actually good and improved the game in many ways. For example the Old Gods which introduced a completely new type of gameplay (pagans and raiding), Conclave which introduced a new layer of internal politics or Reaper's Due which was just pure fun.
Although it's pretty lame CK3 doesn't have artifacts/inventory system, which will obviously be added with DLC eventually. Northern Lords seems pretty lazy, it's basically Old Gods redux. Easy money. We'll see what the big expansion actually adds (probably inventory etc though).

I mean isnt this the template for CK3? Re-release everything they already did for CK2. Easy work + Fan boys are happy = Win Win!!
