He is really hyped, but it all seems to be based on the visuals. Melee combat sucks, hacking was awkward and stealth was disappointed. He liked the shooting though, but complained it has high aim-assist so unsure how he came to that conclusion...

He had to play it on a gamepad. My guess would be the auto aim will be toned down on m&k.

I had my concerns the game would be a jack of all trades rather than a master of some, and it's shaping up with those expectations. It's flirting with ideas borrowed from Rockstar, Bethesda, Watch Dogs, classic immersive sims and CDPR's own designs, but not really excelling at implementing any of them. Tolerable combat, branching paths, a detailed open world, combat hacking and expensive production values for the story. It's possibly the ultimate AAA game product to please everyone. While those are fun, they're also rather lukewarm, safe excursions that prioritize storytelling and setpieces over deep mechanics, replayability and a unique spirit to themselves. It's got more RPG to it than Witcher for sure, but how deep is the pool?
I call this genre just "modern videogame" - it consists of roaming an open world + mocap story + very light combat mechanics and customization mechanics with nary any gameplay effect.
Dude are you serious?

Watching older footage I was afraid it would look outdated, but yes, they've actually upgraded the graphics this time.

To the CDPR shills who don't know if i am serious or think it is fake news, just watch a video of Far Cry 5 or New Dawn at max graphics you shills. Far Cry 5 and New Dawn are BETTER visually than what i am seeing in those videos. You need new eyes, seriously.
I know you are serious. Seriously ill. And that is why I love you.

Yeah anyone saying this game doesn't look above current competition is nuts. Those screenshots above are way above current standards. Also one of the streamers said that at 2080ti it run 60fps @ 1080p with RTX on with 0 tears or framedrops.

It clearly looks like a current gen game across the board. They could have taken it to the next level; I'm starting to feel like CDPR are playing it too safe. Compromised on an ideological level and also stuck in current-gen console limbo.

X-Box 1 setting the baseline. A fucking Jaguar CPU or whatever is in those things.

Looks like some of the Polish media is... less than impressed with the gameplay. Overall impressions are always warm and positive, of course, but there's mentions of heavily recycled character models, spongy enemies, Borderlands-like combat, sub-Destiny shooting, wonky melee, dull on-foot exploration, a questionable driving model (with rather tight environs not really suited to any racing if that's supposed to be in), noticeable signs of cutting corners, i.e. crowds changing density on the spot when you switch from on-foot to car and so on. And your usual early stage issues such as clipping, animations not loading etc.

So, basically, it sounds like an epic crunch for the team and we'll still get the usual terrible gameplay and a "best of" of ARPG issues to go along with it. IF they even patch this thing up until November, that is.

I would've hoped this'd be the Gaming Messiah, and the Great Humbling would come later, but them's the brakes, I suppose.

edit: correction regarding the density: the actual issue quoted was that quest-related locations are clearly densely populated whereas non-quest related locations tend to be relatively barren.

Yoshinari and Imaishi is a good combo but a weird choice. I'd expect a certain level of good production value but I'm not sure how would they take it it direction wise since their works leans more to the hyper action side.
Watanabe would've been more reliable since he's really into western culture and have already made the Blade runner short which was really great. I believe best choice would be if they got Watanabe to direct at Producction I.G or Nakazawa since he's more involved with the studio.
Yoshinari is a huge furfag and he did BNA so I expect at this one furry to appear somewhere. I'm also expecting hyper violence in the vein of classic 80s cyberpunk anime and a good amount of perversion due to Imaishi's influence. You may not know this but the guys at Trigger are huge fans of western culture too. One of the guys at Trigger worked on an episode of Steven Universe because he's such a fag for that gay show and some of the guys at Trigger are the same ones who worked on Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt which was basically a love letter to American animation.

Yeah I think you are talking about Takafumi Horii and he's more of an animator. What they work on does resemble some of the American Animation and still has that silly Yoshinori Kanada influence all over it which I think is great but isn't really what I immediately think of when it comes to Cyberpunk as opposed to the works Watanabe which has a direct influence from the culture (Cowboy Bepop and recently Carole & Tuesday and most importantly the recent Blade Runner short). Tbh I'm not too familiar with Imaishi's work pre 21st century but I think they are more in the vein of Gurren Lagann and Kanada influenced works in general. He's though one of the greatest animators to ever live in my opinion.

I would hope that a $1200 GPU could run it at 60 FPS at 1080p. Well, at least that level of performance will be available at a lower price when RDNA 2 and Ampere cards are out.

The devs are gonna have to crunch extra-extra hard, it was delayed for a reason.
