That's the point, it's a hype award for upcoming games.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

How the fuck can you give an award for something being the best game of anything if it's not even fully released yet?

Ok, what the fuck? This situation is so retarded...
Awarding the game which not even released is so fucking stupid, I can't even...

Uh guys, the awards are only for the games that were shown there, ie. "best RPG among the RPGs shown at Gamescom", not "best RPG of 2020" or whatever. Have you seen the other games shown for awards at gamescom? They aren't exactly heavy hitters.

E.g., here are the RPGs:
  • Cris Tales, Modus Games
  • Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED
  • Gamedec, Anshar Studios
Or the games for "best PC game":
  • Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED
  • Humankind, Amplitude Studios & SEGA Europe
  • Tell Me Why, Microsoft
I do not think anyone can seriously claim that CP2077 shouldn't win these two categories considering the other games listed.

In any case those awards mean nothing, the only "awards" that matter are the user scores after the game has been released and that only in very broad strokes.

If your future setting doesn't have 1911 style pistols in it still, the world-building is elementary school level. It's been around for 100 years, it 's not going to vanish in 57 more.
My 1911 is my second favorite firearm behind my 1916 Spanish Mauser.

Nominations for Nobel prizes mean nothing, there's a huge number of people who can make them, and there's no quality control until the nominations reach the awarding committee.

It's not like the Oscars where simply being nominated is an honor.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Very much applies to Browning's masterpieces.

Well, when you put giant banners near your own headquarters I think it's safe to say the game will come out in november without any delays.

Most games don't want to pay to license gun designs from their manufacturers, although I'm unsure if this is the case for the 1911.

Game awards is just marketing for whoever have marketing budget coming out of their ass. Just like the Oscars.
So to avoid insanity I just ignore it.

1911 is already public domain.

Right, I assumed this but wasn't sure.

You haven't seen a single oscar winner from the last 16 years, have you?
Just because you're living in an internet bubble of edgy nerd-hate it doesn't mean the entire world is.

For the record, I don't watch many moves, but the last oscar winners I've seen; Joker, 1917 and Blade Runner 2049 were all good movies.

I was referring to best picture winners, and each one in the last decade has been either woke propaganda or explicit oscar bait. Some winners of lesser oscars are great, like Whiplash, but the most prestigious one always goes to garbage.

I was wrong to say ''16 years'', I forgot about No Country for Old Men

This was likely already said, but the 1911’s design is now an open concept. I believe the relevant patents have lapsed in the US.
