Not that I have particularly high expectations of this DLC... but I've never understood measuring game value basing on its length.

Aiming for long duration would only support adding padding, grinding, fedex quests and prolly a few other elements to the gameplay, which generally detract from the experience.
I'll take 5 hours of fun gameplay over a 10000 hour MMO.

I agree with the principle, but bear in mind DS1 and 2 were much longer than 3 without them having any unwanted fat.

Not really sure about part 2. Played it twice but never finished, it became a bit of a chore for me.

Arena like in DS1 DLC.... did anyone ever even use that Arena? Or do they just mean the physical design will be like it.

What can you talk about DLC2?
Haha, if I speak too much I get scolded. Firstly, DLC1 and DLC2 are continuation of each other. However each DLC has its different game composition, map, situations and concepts so DLC2 will not feature another snowy map. DLC1's theme is Gothic Horror, and DLC2's theme is digging deeper into the Dark Souls 3 universe

I sense DLC2 it will be connected with the Abyss by the words of digging deeper. Fire, abyss and cycle are the source of the DS lore.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Artorias of the Abyss something that you could finish pretty fast? I suck at Dark Souls and pretty much play them out of a sense of self-loathing, but I still finished that in a few days of sporadic play.

Yes. IT wasn't very long DLC but frankly speaking it was better DLC than DS2 DLC. I like DS2 DLC as they fixed most of the DS2 woes with crap disjointed level design but on lore and story front they offered almost nothing compared to Artorias of Abyss expansion. They felt like combat zones or map packs rather than proper expansion of game which Artorias of Abyss was.

Still finding how to access to DLC in DaS1 was a bitch though.

Miyazaki now copying DS2 DLC, it's the circle of life.

Well it is no shame to copy part of game that worked well. Though it isn't 1:1. DS2 dlc took you randomly somewhere while this seems to be deeply connected to lore of DS.

scratch that. I read interview. I don't see resemblence here. It feels more like Artorias of abyss in two chapters than disjoined DS2 dlcs.

I haven't played DS2's DLC yet so I can't comment on the quality or length other than parroting what others have said. That being said, I don't think I'd personally be too put out by a lack of lore as Dark Soul's lore feels slapdash and incomplete to me. Not just obscured, but like even the writers don't know or care what the hell is going on beyond the broad strokes. It would be cool if DS3's DLC actually answered some questions and added a bit of closure but I'm not entirely sure how they'd do that. I'd be more concerned with the gameplay on offer either way. It doesn't look like a solid map pack or an expansion to the base game.

I really loved the boss fights in AotA, though. Manus is probably one of my favorite bosses in any game I've played, so I guess I'd probably be a dipshit and purchase The Painted World of Ariamis Magical Winter Wonderland Ashes of Ariandel if it offers good boss fights.

If you are new player sure it might feel like that. But this is untrue. There is proper story behind everything in game that is simply told not in your face. DS1 was best in it.

It is one of the reasons i like DS so much. Because you actually explore and try to piece yourself information to create of picture what has happened and so on.

Though in age of internet this is rarely appreciated as you can go to wiki and read everything on silver platter.

This is one of reasons why i am waiting for DS3 expansions. I think we will see finally Velka and she was unseen hand in almost all events in DS1.

The two planned downloadable content of “Dark Souls 3” will mark the end of the game franchise as a whole. The From Software president also gave a hint that he might develop a new “Armored Core” video game.

President Hidetaka Miyazaki told Polygon that they have no plans to make another “Dark Souls” game in the future. He said that there could be someone else in his company who would want to work on new installments. He also said that the series will end after releasing the two DLCs for the video game.

Miyazaki wants to move away from the franchise so that he can create new IPs. He did say that he is not completely denying the possibility of bringing back the franchise in the future.

The president suggested that fans will most likely see some HD remakes of the older games in the series on newer consoles. This could mean that it could be just a simple port of the existing games to a new hardware, or it would be a full-on remake with new or revised content.

Miyazaki told Kotaku in an interview that the third iteration is the end, for him. It does not mean that it is the end of the franchise. According to Miyazaki, there may be someone other than him that would want to make another game. He will not deny them the chance to make future installments if that is the case.

The president said that he does not think they created a new genre. He thinks that they made it probably easier for similar titles to come out. If he created the proper environment for those games to be launched, then he is honored to do so. Regarding about the use of the game’s mechanics in other games, the president said their approach might be different. For their game company, that is an interesting move.

Demon's Souls on PC? :bounce:

PRobably King's Field or just straight up Dark souls HD remaster packed in 3game pack and sold for 60.
Demon's Souls is Sony IP so there is 0% chance for this getting on PC same as Bloodbourne.

Maybe they want to make sequel to this gem:

He said consoles anyways. Clearly was just referring to a Demons' Souls release for the newest Sony box.

Yeah releasing Demon's Souls remaster for PS4 isn't that impossible.

Though i wish they would continue Demon's Souls. Imo it has better atmosphere and themes than Dark Souls. Maybe they will be able to buy back it from Sony.

Can Namco Bandai hire any studio to make DS4?

If so, which studio could continue Miyazaki's work?

I don't think he meant different studio. Probably he will just hand it out to some other director like in DS2 case. Though without him i don't think series will survive that for more than one game. Better way would be to start new ip with its own director from start.

After 50+ hours in Dark Souls 3 I managed to find out on my own that WarCry enables two special attacks.

two handed -> F (for Warcry) -> one handed -> Ctrl + MRB (with the default keyboard configuration)

I have no idea what is the pad equivalent.

Depends on weapon.
Crescent axe i think has the most awesome change

Well the PvP is kind of retarded.

Most players are using Curved Swords or Katanas. And you cannot beat those because you cannot hit them with slower weapons like GreatSwords or GreatAxes. Therefore the only remaining option is to use a fast weapon like straight sword (and +10 Longsword is the best cheese option).

Basically one recipe for winning a duel is to switch from a slow weapon to a fast weapon during the fight. Most players simply don't compute that Longsword (for example) is danger for close range. Yeah, you get parried if you are greedy but you also get hits because the move set is the best.

Then you have the running spear users which I'm not sure how to defend except by rolling. Roll-roll-roll-R1 and again.

But what I'm trying to say is that most duels are win/lost before the fight starts. You have to adapt to the opponent's weapon otherwise you are fucked. Now, this doesn't sound too bad except that ... you are really forced to play in a certain way if you want to win.

Try GreatSword versus Knife, Curved or Straight Sword users and you are fucked. In fact, you lose every trade if you swing first with a slow weapon. Great swords without good armors are useless and hyper-armor works like shit in this game.

And then you have the uber-players which never attack. They simply refuse to engage until you make a mistake out of frustration or boredom. I fucking hate these retards. I wish there was some mechanism to punish these cunts.

1 vs 1 pvp is so boring that in most cases I know from the start what it will happen. Based on the opponent's weapon, I already know if I can win with a slower weapon or not. And then depending on my mood, I switch to Longsword for max cheese or I actually engage in some random fun (like fist fights).

I don't know. Low-level PvP (<80) seems to be the only thing still funny. Cause it can be very unpredictable - there is no better feeling than destroying a gank or beating a twink.
