Gaider was one of the better posters at the codex when he frequented this place. Then Bioware started their decline for real and of course he became the local target for every codexer who wanted to criticize the new direction. He lost patience and quietly left, never to return.
Or returned as an alt ;)

Is that a confession?

I remember that bioware forums were really good in the days of baldur's gate 2 and neverwinter , the more their games became mainstream the worse the forum became . He's making ultra mainstream games aimed at teens with gore ,cheap erotic stories, and "press A is awesome" game mechanisms , hes surprised of the kind of fans populate his forums... Thas really like the pig farmer complaining about walking in pig shit indeed.

Quietly? I think he first wrote some bitchy post about not being appreciated and then left, or is my memory deceiving me?
I must have missed it in that case, what I remember is that he did bitch some about the amount of flak he was getting, but eventually he just stopped posting completely and some time after he began talking shit about the codex on the bioware forums.

Gaider is really a crybaby. Read between the lines, loser.

Are people still surprised when internet forums turn to filth? That's part of their charm, imo.

You get a real feel for how pissed off people are and how much respect they've lost for you. Take it in stride and fix yourself because something is obviously wrong with you and your games.

He caused it by turning BioWare from an RPG developer to a sex literature company with just two games: Dragon Age and Dragon Age II. They attracted people who wanted to play out their sexual fantasies on their monitors and TV screens. Mass Effect was less about the romance, even in ME3 which allowed a gay relationship, and that was because Gaider didn't work on it. But we know what kind of company Bioware will be from now on. He can't complain about the forums demanding more and more of this bullshit, he gave it to them in the first place.

Picture of gaydor's monday morning problems.

Seems like a nice guy and not a total asshat alright.

Heh.

I was on BSN at that time. You'd not believe how all this came about. It was written when DA:O based DA2 Butthurt was just a small fraction of the fanase and gaydor NEVER thought this would backfire so badly in the future with DA2, ME3 and TOR fails on BioWare.

CrustyBot, there are some secrets that you were not made aware of. Now probably is the time I (we?) disclosed them. Your long time contribution has been noticed. Expect a PM.

Damn, and here I thought he was talking about the toxic feedback of "promancers" and how it's negatively influenced his games. Guess I was COMPLETELY and UTTERLY wrong.

People like Gaider are the result of the liberal "feel-good" culture that tells us it doesn't matter who we are in life as long as we feel good about ourselves. For a fat, bald retard that translates into having to avoid all negativity lest it pierce the thin, milky white skin of its recipient.

And the above couldn't have been a pm instead of a post? Bit strange to post on a thread about how you're going to send someone a pm, unless it's just to demonstrate the remarkable exclusivity of your 'insider knowledge'.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
-Albert Einstein

Why did I post that quote? Well, David Gaider gave the 13 year olds secks fantasies & blawd, the 13 year olds wanted more, & when the 13 year olds started to bitch about the lack of Elf on Elf incest action, David Gaider did what David Gaider would do: Bitch about the decline of BSN while he continues to support it, failing to see any sort of irony. He did what he did to get the new shit & he was rewarded with new shit.

I have summarised Gaider's life as a designer from circa 2005 to present thusly.

1. Become Lead Writer at Bioware.

2. From that position, hire a failed romance writer and other gigglesquee females on your writing team so you can feel better about yourself as they tell you how awesome you are. Sure, tehy'll even refer to themselves as your minions on twitter, why not? Congratulations! The rest of the Bioware employees now call you and the writing team for Dragon Age 'the estrogen squad'. You thing they're doing it in an endearing way, but I'm pretty sure they're laughing behind the back of your bald head.

3. Proceed to write romances with your new staff.

4. DING DONG! You've just been told you need to finish writing the whole of DA2 in less than a year. Boy, I bet you wish you had better peolple on your writing staff now, huh?

5. Release a piece of shit game with a piece of shit story and piece of shit characters that even romancefags at BSN don't like.

6. Engage with them in a superior assholierthanthou manner on the forums.

Why dont big companies simply hire someone to look at forums and report back to the devs. They can give the devs the constructive criticism and good ideas from the forums while protecting them from flames.

I believe that position is held by Chris 'the evil Hutt' Priestly.

BSN is the pits, he's right. You couldn't pay me to read anything there.

He is also right that reading negative things day in and day out can adversely affect you, even if they are based...somewhere down the line, on legitimate criticism.

I feel bad for him because despite what many think here and on BSN, he is a REALLY nice guy, the nicest, and he is very talented. Full disclosure, I am not a fan of his recent work, but I understand not everything is a home run. I think he has got a lot more great work left in him (like he cares what I think anyway).

Yeah, that's a jerky post and every developer has done it - this is proof that even nice guys can get worked up.
Never seen Larian or Croteam react that way to criticism. And "getting worked up" is a pretty smooth way of describing that post.
When other devs get worked up they simply go "fuck that loser".
