Bought this on Steam sale on a whim. It doesn't look like the type of game I'd normally be interested in (console pap, zombie crap), but inspired by the latest Threat Interactive video praising the graphics, I started playing it, and so far the storytelling is good enough to get me over the hump of the consoley-ness. (The melee/gunplay combat is nicely responsive too.)

And the virtual world does actually look fantastic art-design and graphics-wise, with a rich, realistic atmosphere. Pretty much better of a post-apoc landscape/world than anything else I've seen. Faces are surprisingly lively too, they're a bit potato-headed in general shape but the skin looks top notch and and they're well animated.

Yep, it's a good 'un, like relaxing into a warm bath. I'm finding myself thinking about the game when I'm not playing it - classic sign of a good game :)

My only real gripe is the stupid save system, but eh, it's a console port, one can't expect anything else.

(Its baroque save system is what put me off RDR2 eventually, although I think this system is a bit easier as you only need to be by your bike or a bed to save your progress reasonably efficiently. Given that, I'm surprised a modder hasn't been able to mod it so that, for the purposes of saving, your bike is notionally "with you" wherever you are, while you're not in danger.)

As to the point someone made above about the mechanics being similar to other games, that's not necessarily a problem - that's just what you call a genre, and it all depends on how well all the little tropes are implemented. Here the familiar open world mechanics tropes are done well, the game's quite polished in that regard and plays smoothly.

Like what? Asking because I forgot so much of it with my last achievement in January 2023, only eight hours played. Remember only them being tropes that I dislike. Developers need to free their minds. But then they wouldn't get the funding.

I played days gone maybe a year ago and while the gameplay isn't anything special it was nice to play a game that was technically competent. So many games these days are buggy and suffer from poor performance despite looking ugly. Days gone is AAA slop done well.

It's slop but it lacks most modernisms and you get to shoot a lot of zombies without being lectured, so it's worth a recommend but not gushing over.

The fucking assassin's creed stalking sections were hella lame tho.

Yeah it's highly likely that the reason the promised sequel isn't showing up is because it's a straightforward game with a traditional White chad front and center.

Can't have that sort of thing, sequel has to wait until Sick Baby get their disgusting little paws all over the development :)

Literal ubisoft tier slop from soyny with repetitive activities, melodramatic cringe, fag army generals taking it up the ass from mexicans, ugly latina and nigger dykes, insane simping of a soy biker protagonist for his girlboss wife. I knew something like this would be appreciated by Codex :smug:

Also switch D and G in places and you get real name of this game.
