Grab the Codex by the pussy Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture
The story focuses on her because she is the main character of the story. It's really that simple.
So... they invented this girl, made her the niece of Deckard Cain then created a bunch of movies about her with her crying, burning him, swearing revenge, and showing a love interest in Tyrial before she died to appeal to guys?

At least it's not part of a modern gaming trend or anything. Could you imagine if someone tried to create a continuation of the Ultima franchise today? It would probably have graphics like World of Warcraft, be an online game, have achievements and feature a sexed up daughter of Lord British called Lady British. Ah shit, man. I mean, could you just imagine it?

The jaded side of me would say that adding her to the story was a crass marketing move that pissed on the game in order to try to mine the girl gamer demographic (amongst other changes that ultimately dumbed down an already simple franchise.) You say she was in the cinematics because she was in the story, but I'd say she did fuck all for the story but add overwrought emotion. Who asked for that, or more precisely, who were they trying to appeal to? For comparison, watch the Diablo 2 cinematics. Dark, depressing, right tone, and what we expect.

Also, I doubt that was the end of Diablo "forever" as Tyrial sez, and they totally ripped off LotR and the Balrog for Diablo with that hot fire yell and all. I might as well say that since I endured the 15 minute horror of watching these movies.

A post-2002 Blizzard title that has stupid things in the plot? Do tell us more.

At its release time, WoW seemed like a totally serious game, keeping in mind all the lore prepared by Warcraft III
You mean the game I looked at, saw shitty cartoonish 3D graphics, thought
and never bothered even reading about again?
Am I to understand that the only basis for your criticism of W3 is graphics? I am disappoint. What about the story? At the time, I thought the story of W3 was really, really great.

Come on, how could a game decline from being all serious to some retarded theme park?
How can a WoW style MMO be anything but?
The very design philosophy of those screams themepark - no persistency, raids, etc.
Did you just call WoW "a WoW style MMO"? Some inescapable recursion here.

Suddenly, a crass marketing move doesn't seem nearly as bad a motivation, when compared to the ugly truth...

That's such an odd way of asking me if I drank bleach or if I burned a 50 dollar bill.

I also shit in advance on pretty much all the chibi pastel manga indie crap we're seeing these days.

U MAD?

Did you just call WoW "a WoW style MMO"?
Wouldn't it be rather weird if it wasn't?

You guys are disgusting. Indie games are a good thing. Don't shit on them just because they aren't put out by megacorporations.

Ruining Diablo 3? is that the same game that sold 10mil copies? Nah, I believe D3 is doing just fine, and I'm one of the few here who likely didn't play or buy it. R00fles!

Let's find out if there is any truth to Volourn.

So, after two months and 279 votes, with a steep majority having voted No, it turns out Volourn is full of bullshit.

R00FLES!

There is one thing I'd like to know though: I remember from Beta videos that Deckard Cain was in the game but as I watched the cinematics recently, it looks like he dies in the intro. So is he completely absent in D3?

He's in the game as a catalyst for various events and quests in the first Act. Events such as every npc getting captured (repeatedly, in the first act alone.) I think he is captured when you find him, he is captured again, and then he is finally captured, freed but is dying and reforges a sword with his last dying breath. And for some reason, he doesn't give you a horadric cube. His death ends Act 1, and there three more acts. The plot of the second act is 10x worse, if you can believe it.

This reminds me that no one one the Codex has yet to help me fork out the memories of the game from my noggin. Don't fork out my memories of TES IV Oblivion though, you'll remove the rage.

I did buy it and got around 80 hours fun out of it, most of it multiplayer with my brother. It's worse than some previous games in the genre and has some design flaws, but they are well known so everyone can make their own choices regarding buying it. I have no regrets about paying the money because it was entertaining for me long enough to justify it. It might be entertaining again in the future depending on what route Blizzard might take with patches/expansions.

Does this game have a working offline crack yet? I will never buy it because that's a vote for always online games, but I wouldn't mind playing it once.

Supposedly there is a server emulator, but rumor has it that it's buggy and incomplete as of this moment.

There are actual female gamers out there, but having their gaming preferences defined by being gamers rather than females they play the same stuff as male gamers and don't give a shit.

Female "gamers", OTOH are just non-gaming females that have sand in their vaginas and demand non-gamer games for them because they are female and stuff.
What a fucking ignorant thing to say.

I kind of like Warcraft lore, but I've never been under the impression that WC3 had a good story.

It wasn't amazing, but it was competent. It was clear that Blizzard wanted to move the series away from a simple evil race vs good race dichotomy and focus more on character development. Considering the hero-based nature of the game this was a good change to make the story and the gameplay complement each other. There isn't any particularly great depth to the characters but they are tied together within their respective story arcs well. It's no PS:T or Starcraft, but it's better than most and indisputably a masterpiece compared to anything Blizzard has put out since.

TFT was quite a bit worse though and the start of the decline that was WoW and everything else.

A new patch to diablo 3:
Blizzard say the patch is designed to make multiplayer more streamlined: "Multiplayer can be lot of fun, but given the downsides it can often feel not worth the effort. By making it easier for players to find one another, improving social features, and providing direct buffs to co-op groups, we hope to change that perspective."

It's kinda funny how Blizzard are still trying. Does anyone actually play Diablo III anymore? I uninstalled it months ago and kinda forgot it ever existed.
