Judging by previews, interviews and trailers, Disco Elysium has heart. It has soul. If Disco Elysium is gonna sing the Blues, you will want to listen. This is a game in the making by people who genuinely love what they were doing, and it's clear that rather than asking themselves "How can we best serve the market?", the developers instead ask themselves "Wouldn't it be awesome if . . .?" It has all the enthusiasm and the quirkiness (for better and worse) of an indie game, but the production values that only a multi-million dollar budget will buy.

Lol, seriously. There is literally nothing in that review that couldn't have been discerned from checking out basic Steam page info and watching like 10 mins of gameplay.

Looks like the Steam reviewers are making a common mistake among the stupid: they see something they don't understand and immediately project their pet ideas onto it. "I want an RPG where I can build my own barber shop and grow peppermint out back, WHY DOESNT YOUR GAME HAVE THIS".

In other words - they are infantile as fuck. I didn't know it's possible.

Review:

It's not an RPG

AHAH.
...If you are looking serious RPG - this isn't....
...there is no real gameplay beyond exploring Martinaise speaking to people finding useful items...

This guy never heard of tabletop RPGs right?
RIGHT?!

What is that ugly ring above the character?

This right just squeeze your ballz in order you behave right in women world.

Yes, and this is the one of the major problem with the game vs audience.
I already have see on steam opinion from those who already complete the game once that

As for the writing, it has some levity and the game is at times very funny.
However, at times, it also take itself a little bit too seriously especially when it comes to the emotional stuff. I think comedy is where the game truly shines and I hope they will go more in that direction in the future.

you see that? They understand only lulz and laughts - something just a little bit higher and they will instantly hostile and call that PRETENTIOUS, as we already can see that on Codex even.
This problem will be only be aggravating ovet time - mass crowd will be praising this game as "funny" while will be completely dissmissing anything serious from this game.
You can't talk about heroic or pathetic or high and low if your game has no elfes for example - why? just because.

I can already name all the weak points game has.

Art stated as one of the strong points of game for example.
But it's for who have seen at least something in their lifes.
But 90% of crowd didn't seee anything besides homixes and marvel-movies, they didn't watch anything besides Pixar cancer-inducing "animation films" or horrendous Niklodeon channel, they don't interest in this.
This artstyle could be even repulsive to them, or at least has no positive impact.

Also, the writing appeal to a smart people with at least a bit of self-consciousness.
Do you think crowd has that? Really?
Haha, you are a funny man if you really think that.
No, these people understnd only stend-up kind of "humor" and lulz.
Don't bring on anything bigger for them.

In general, general flaw of the game - it appeal to a intellect and self- in a modern world of consistently cultivated anti-intellectiualism and self-emptiness, when the crowd is prodded by the whip to leave any self-consciousness and merge with crowd.

You also can't build your own settlement or cultivate and collect carrots and potatoes to sell for money with which to buy Legendary Miniguns. These are the hard truths you won't read anywhere else.
