I should think there would be more concern around here about the screenshots that are showing the PC fighting groups of enemies at a time

The game looks very interesting. Sometimes, you just have to have faith it will all turn out well. And if you're going to put your faith in a company, Arkane is a good bet.

hmmmm screens look interesting. Art style is p.cool and the setting looks cool as well. What engine is this? It doesn't look like UE3 to me and there is the fact since no Zenimax published game used it before (at least not to my knowledge. Since they are owned by Zenimax - could it be Id tech 4? Or is it their own? which I doubt since Arkene isn't that big of a company to build their own engine.

they are using a version of Unreal Engine. A dev commented that on the game's forum

Mirror's Edge was UE3 done right, this is Half-Life 2 with an ugly filter.

Sorry about that, the upload fails the large files, Imageshack claims that this site violets the TOS, photobucket re-sizes everything so if You want here is the mediafire link of the larger file:

Hope this works now.

Well it's nice to have people with actual brains in charge of a AAA game for change. I'm fairly optimistic about this one. At least for now. We'll see how it will look when the actual gameplay video comes.

On the downside though, the games uses the shitty Unreal Engine 3.

But with an awesome art director like Viktor Antanov the worst might be prevented.

What ? How is ue3 shitty ?

There's a certain feel of plastic artificiality overcoming all the art in most Unreal games. Things look like sterile tech demonstrations. It's either that it's extra hard to make the assets look right in UE3 engine or that the licensee has so far been rather inapt at handling a "next-gen" engine. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Don't forget the difficulties it has with texture pop-in and rendering large outdoor areas. On the upside, I understand it's far easier to work with than Source.
