There's a certain feel of plastic artificiality overcoming all the art in most Unreal games. Things look like sterile tech demonstrations. It's either that it's extra hard to make the assets look right in UE3 engine or that the licensee has so far been rather inapt at handling a "next-gen" engine. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle.

That's entirely the artists fault, not the engine.

Sorry Morgoth, I must've overlooked this one. Anyway, the link to the interview is pretty interesting for those following this game.

Dishonored is a game in which you as a supernatural assasin need to take out targets in an open ended world. Nothing that really appealed to me, especially as it is very far away and a lot of the sometimes outlandish claims sound like exaggeration or even plain hype. Not to mention that while Arkane made the awesome Arx Fatalis they never really made anything that good again.

Then I saw they got Harvey Smit from Deus Ex and Thief fame as a lead dev and I got interested. This interview at CVG makes it only more so. Citing Looking Glass Studios as an important influence tends to do that with me. The latest Egde also has a rather interesting article on it. Go find a scanbuy it. Anyway, thoughts?

And I'm defenitely not so sure about the plastic look in the UE3 games being the entire fault of the artists. I mean, why would every UE3 game have it then?

It's not open world, therefore is on the same level as Bioshock I/II. But the Dishonored art style is very good, however Bioshock Infinite will likely be better than this.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. Looking Glass is back.

RPGWatch's latest preview makes me think this game really has potential, as long as you don't expect a full-fledged RPG of course. At least, for once, they got off their asses and made an original setting.

It seems impressive. It's like the copied the concept of Kassadin from league of legends, added some Assassin's Creed flavor and mixed it with minor rpg elements.

Also the possessing part reminded me of Messiah. I wonder if it will be limited to animals.

Looks way better than Bioshock Infinite at least.

On a related note, they mention how they expect brute force to be the most popular option amongst players. I wonder if that's true. Didn't stealth become the de facto default for DX:HR?

I hope they don't fuck up with the concept. It could turn out a good exception to the rule of the games released as of late.

Also the last games I remember where you could take over other bodies to solve puzzles were the two first Oddworld games

Looking good. Let's hope they don't mess this up by adding too much innovashun and next-gen features. Visuals are pretty nice too thanks to the washed out Victorian style, although the character models are kinda weird.

That's because stealth in Human Revolution was dumb and easy. No way will the console kiddies bother with stealth if they do it like in Thief.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Damn, this shit looks awesome.

Especially how they actually emphasize their non-linearity by saying "most players would not reach that place, not even we thought you could reach it, and we were like hey that's cool".

There's actually a game in development that lets one hope for non-linear large missions with worthwile exploration.
I want this to be Thiefus Ex.
Fuck yeah.

This looks really cool, I just hope they won't fuck it up midway through or something, that'd be a real downer.

Not trying to destroy the good mood here, but large missions with real exploration is pretty much impossible with current console hardware.

We can probably expect something like a mission that can be finished in 20 minutes, as opposed to 90-120 minutes I spent on an average mission on Thief 2.
