I really hope Dishonored 2 never happens. Or, not unless Arkane develops a game that is actually worth playing.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I'd love Arkane making a Bas-Lag game.

Mission 12: Strange Bedfellows. You have to dress up as a cactus, infiltrate the cacti suburb and leave a letter on the desk of their leader where you ask for help. Beware of the females, their cactus-tits are spiky!

Instant GOTY.

I would totally love to see a Dishonoured 2 by Arkane. It would be awesome with a few tweaks - instead of instawin spells, they should put in an elaborate system where you could "draw" runes with your mouse in order to cast spells. Also, tighter environments might be better, perhaps something subterranean and claustrophobic, populated by weird creatures and monsters and littered with treasures for you to find. Also, they should rename it, perhaps to something like "Return to Arx." That would be an awesome sequel to Dishonoured!

I'm talking about melee and inventory management. Runes were fun.

I loved Arx Fatalis, but rage quit because of the broken melee combat. It is really frustrating that Arkane release games with alot of potential but always have broken mechanics that make me rage quit. Dishonored wasn't different, got bored halfway through, it was just too easy.

The game's lack of Difficulty reeks of Todd Howard/Bethesda.

Because from reading early interviews back when Dishonored was just announced, I get the impression that Arkane originally wanted the game to be much harder.

I played about half the game before my save somehow got corrupted, but I agree that the game is way too easy unless you forego most of the powers. If you teleport around and use the other things you're basically superman against an army of idiots. The concept is cool but it really ends up being such wasted potential.

Dishonored AI surprised me positively only once:

Thugs with those flaming bottles have interesting tactics where they use their bottles to breathe fire at you (temporarily blinding you in addition to inflicting heavy damage), then run off and hide behind something, waiting for you to run past.

Other than that it was... well, serviceable... in open combat (but could hesistate less when shooting), but just ass wrinkingly awful when it comes to searching for you when you were stealthing. In DX:HR enemies at least navigated to your last seen position before being struck by sudden Alzheimers, here they just wander off in random direction as soon as they lose sight of you.
:hmmm:
Just no.

My open combat playthrough was actually pretty rough on the hardest difficulty. It's only the sneaking that's way too easy in my experience.

Yeh, same for me. It wasn't that easy knocking on the front gate and killing everyone on Very Hard.

You should try giving Arx another shot in the future. The game does have flaws but if you look past them ...you'll find a good Dungeon Crawler with exceptional atmosphere.

And it's probably the closest thing we're ever gonna get to a "Ultima Underworld 3".

I recommend to anyone who wants to play this game and doesn't bind your crouch/sneak key to NumPad, to try playing on self imposed semi-ironman (no reloads in mid mission, or at least no reloads when shit hits the fan).

From what I've seen Dishonored's problems stem from the fact that it was a compromised vision. I think it's fairly obvious stealth was the intended way to play through the game, but then they also had to put in overt action approach in order to chase the ever-elusive "wider audience" that stormed through the game in four hours and wondered why it was so short, all the while ignoring one of better level designs in recent memory because they just blindly chased target marker after target marker.

Solution:
Eliminate target markers.

Considering Dishonored has only implemented sensory system. It's surprising you are still talking about AI. It's like being surprised by a goo.

What idiot would use reloads in a game? Of course reloads in BG2 because finger of death connected with the main character is fine, but you are sounding as if reloads would be regular...
memory because they just blindly chased target marker after target marker.
At least they allowed them to be disabled in the menu.
