I haven't bought the final DLC, but together with the base game, the one story dlc and the trials, I've played it for about 40 hours; so if you won't get too hung up on the small levels and lack of options compared to games like Deus Ex or Thief then I'd say it's worth the money. Be sure to play it aggressively, can't stress enough that the games strength is in combat - utilizing your agility and your powers - ghosting is extremely boring.

Your PC has to be pretty damn crap to be unable to handle this game. I ran it on a netbook with a 128mb integrated card.

Don't get me wrong, it certainly didn't look pretty with everything set to low, but it runs on very low end systems. Any desktop computer built in the last 5 years should have no problems running it.

Also check a guide on how to disable dynamic lighting and lightshafts - it pumped up my fps from 20 to 60.

There's 60 pages of posts here telling you whether it's worth it or not, but in short: yes, closest to a modern Thief we have, play it on hardest difficulty, consoles suck get a new PC asshole, etc. etc.

Why get a new pc if 98% of games I would need to upgrade for is popamole ?

I was leaning towards getting it but the dumb AI is turning me off now. At least at $40. I'll pick it up when it gets down to $10/15 on Ebay or something.

If you don't like 98% of games that need more than integrated graphics to run then do not buy Dishonored.
When it comes to pc gaming, all I give a fuck about is being able to play older games and the upcoming 'incline' (W2, PE, OS, DS, AoD, new Torment, KotC2, Grimoire:smug: ect...)
The modern game or two I do want to pick up, (Dark Souls, New Vegas, ect..) I just get for PS3. If they actually made good pc exclusive games that might give me a reason to upgrade...Maybe if Arma 3 had a campaign comparable to OFP: CWC..something along those lines.

I have better than integrated graphics btw, that was the other guy that said that.

Just don't go expecting a modern Thief. Dishonnored is designed for both full action fps gameplay and stealth, and the stealth portion is pretty simplified compared to Thief. I would say it's more like Deus Ex HR than Thief. But like DXHR, it's a good game, despite some popamole shortcomings.

It is even better than HR, HR is too much full of convenient pathways, Dishonoured has this too but it isn't as agravating. Seriously, after a time , I knew that a vent was the anwer to all my questions.

Everything the game offers suffers because you are way overpowered so there is really no challenge in anything.

Instead of overcoming your enemies - you play with them, like a lazy cat plays with a mouse. Its fun only for the first few minutes.
There is no way you can fail at anything - unless you yourself make some kind of horrible mistake.

Everything is easy. Everything is thrown in your face, at your feet.

Except the quasi original setting there is nothing to enjoy in the gameplay itself.

Yes but if you are going to play games like New Vegas and Dishonored then you should be doing it on PC, is the point. I don't care how many exclusives the fucking platform has, it has the better versions of those types of games by a factor of like 10. Also no kids bugging you for TV time.

Also I'm not sure if you've been paying attention but the PC has more exclusives than any other platform, even this generation. And yes a lot of them, like Amnesia for example, require a decent computer.

Anyway I was just giving you shit, I don't really want to get into a long platform wars debate. Waste of time.

So, I will begin playing the expansions, after having finished the main game some six months ago.

Are there any general tips or things I should have in mind ? How is the overal difficulty on the expansions ? (I like a middle ground between challenge and frustrating reload).

P.S: and for those who like the game´s atmosphere and also like tabletop roleplaying games, there is this game here, which is was inspired on Dishonored setting and is awesome.

Expansions are a little tougher, especially the last mission. They're also larger, and have some more interesting enemy routes. At the end of the day it's more Dishonored though, not a whole lot else to say. Blink pauses now, which is kind of gay. Ghost dogs are annoying.

While I understand your point of view, don't say this like it's some universal truth. Out of the four times (yes) I played the game, three of my runs were ghost runs. Is it as challenging as Thief? No, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun.

A never seen, no kills ghost run can be pretty challenging. Add in no powers except blink, which is an achievement, and it's even tougher. There is challenge to be had for those who want it. And for anyone saying it's all opt-in, well... what was Thief's difficulty modes if not opt-in challenge? You can play Thief and Thief 2 on easy and run around killing people too, if you want.

I never really try to artificially impose restrictions like "zero kill, zero shots etc." to my playstyle, I just keep intuitively playing pretty much the same way every time. Although I do naturally enjoy spartanic options. In Dishonored, I sort of internalized Choking+Blink while completely ignoring, or rather forgetting about all the other options the game offers. I.e. instead of dragging out a smoke grenade or a mine or even that goddamn pistol, I just reload if I fail making a smooth entry/stun. Crossbow and Possession here and there.

Guess that's the Thief player in me.

I don't mind restricted toolsets if the AIs, entities, and what I call gamedesign-driven difficulty makes up for it. Giving me more gadgets while still having dumb watchmen sorta cheapens the entire experience.

But I think Arkane already suggested that they were surprised that most Dishonored players went the non-lethal/non-action-hero route. Hopefully that will make Dishonored 2 even better.

I always play the first time doing whatever comes natural, which for me is usually lethal stealth backstabby. I did my non-lethal and no powers run the second time through. It was a lot harder, but the game still felt designed for it.

Ok, just finished the DLCs and found them better than the original, both gameplay and story-wise. Daud is a much better character than Corvo the Mute. I really liked Dishonored and its DLCs overall, but the game has a all-encompasing shallowness that bothers me somehow. It doesnt subtract my fun with it, but its there.

Hey, what da fuck is up with the little lady´s face at my signature ?

Just to complement my previous post, take a look at this and this.

There is a certain "emotional potency" (yeah Im a fag) to those woks that grabs me by the collar and makes me watch it up till the credits go up. But, sadly, the game per se lacked that.

While watching me playing Dishonored, my son asked:

"Daddy, is this guy mute ?"

And then I realized its really a possibility after all. So is it written somewhere if Corvo is really mute or something ? It looks so to me.

I don't remember much of the game's storyline, but weren't you coming home from a diplomatic mission at the start of the game? Seems really odd to send your mute bodyguard of all people as a diplomatic dispatch. I'm pretty sure he just suffers from Gordon syndrome to allow players to project themselves into the empty frame that is Corvo.

Hmm, googling around a bit I found out that they originally planned to have him voiced but when they added non-lethal stuffies they removed it due to convenience and possible narrative dissonance.
