It's not selling that much because the number of concurrent players is going down. :smug: This is mostly just a slow time for sales.

I am of course very pleased that it couldn't even hit the heights of Shadowrun Returns.

Ahh. So you are a satisfied owner Angthoron. Sorry for stepping on your feelings. Everyone has different Needs. I kill other nobleman in a fictional country and you have your Goats.

I admit I would f'around in Goat Simulator for a couple of hours but certainly wouldn't buy it until it's bundle fodder.

What? Where'd you get that idea?

I'd probably even unfriend the person to gift me that thing, if someone would ever decide to try that.

S:R was more than twice as cheaper.

Also depends on what you mean by "that much." It's certainly selling much better than you initially hoped for, and is certainly much more of a success for Larian that you hoped for too :M

It's not going to sell a million at full price bros. 300k would be a huge success already, and 500k a total jackpot for Larian. But I doubt it'll be that much. If it does 300k in the first month, continues to sell at a steady pace, and goes up to 500k with some strategically placed discounts, it will likely have already fulfilled Swen's dream of complete financial independence.

I was mostly just kidding about 1 mil obviously. :M I wouldn't mind that ofc, but 300k at full, post-EA price would be really cool.

We'll have to get another sales figure from Swen once all the major sites have given out their reviews.

It sounded so. But i do not accuse you of possessing such a game.

I think / hope D:OS will manage to reach 400k - 500k sales at the full price, within the next 1-3 months. The problems is to reach the US gamers, they are to wary. Larian needs another Angry Joe show.

That says truly everything. Thank you. I could not draw any connection to any social group.

Yes one figure at the beginning of august would be good.

AngryJoe will likely review it since there's no big game releases for the summer. He's been playing it on Twitch through out this week.

A good 9 out of 10 and a Badass approval is worth at least around 50k - 100k sales.

not sure if srs

One retard on the internet couldn't have that much influence on game sales.

I disagree - there are several retards on the Internet that have a huge influence on game sales, especially if we're talking about indie games. Videos from people like Angry Joe, Total Biscuit and PewDiePie get hundreds of thousands of views - and the people who watch these videos are often fans of the video creators and value their opinion, i.e. if Angry Joe tells his fans that "dis gaem is gud" then a lot of his fans will actually buy the game.

Glad to see this is selling so well, I couldn't play it first week due to Uni but now that I am free I've played like 8 hours in just two days and it is sooo great, from level design to combat and music, Larian did an excellent work, and... well, nothing that hasn't been said here before.

Btw, it is getting quite a bit of attention at some mainstream spanish-talking forums I visit and a fanmade translation is already under work in another more specialized one, so once that is done it will be even more sales for Larian <3

Let's wait for the weekend. Last time that was the high point.

Also this happened. Another day, another 90 counted on Metacretin.

Thanks the free games Roguey, but what a shitty atitude you have. You are HAPPY, that Divinity doesn't sell much? Fuck you!

Oh, and you do know that concurrent player numbers don't convert to sales, don't you? DOS could outsold SR, even if not as many people are playing it at the same time as SR.

People. You are using the term 'retard' too often, to describe people who have a different taste / opinion. AngryJoe is a smart hombre. He has made his hobby to his job and knows how to use youtube for this need. There is nothing retarded about this. It is smart. And his reviews have quite an entertainment factor. His outlook on Fallout 3 and the Codex one may differ, but that does not mean that the codex is right and he is wrong. Every medal has two sides. And to see both sides, you have to look from two different angles. You can say that Fallout 3 is a bad RPG, or a good told free exploration FPS with RPG elements. What you see depends on you and your taste / opinion.

But back to the numbers:
Angry Joe has an average of 1 Million views per review, if 1/20 or 1/10 (which is quite possible) buys a game because of his review, then this will accumulate to around 50k-100k sales.

Roguey do not lose track, for what is important:
A good entertaining RPG, and this is very good fulfilled by D:OS. There is nothing good about that, if it would in sales numbers underperform, not even for Pillars of Eternity.

As someone who misses the days when 'talking earthworm in a spacesuit' was a commercially viable game idea, I actually wish there were more games that split the difference between 'goat simulator' and 'FO:NV'. Rather than a completely 'straight' goat simulator, add in a skill system and survivalist elements, throw in some platformer mountain sections, allow you to flee and (at higher levels, when you're a badass billy goat with monstrous horns) fight predators and human hunters, 'romances' (no dialogue - you are a goat) where you try to become the alpha goat in the region, prison-breaking domestic goats out of their slavery until you lead a mighty goat army, a stealth system (with shitty unreliable stealth - you are a goat) where you can break into rural houses and raid their kitchen before knocking down and goring the shit out of the householder when he comes after you with a shotgun...
