Guys to be fair, whenever a nice game comes out, I see the codex ubermensch throwing unnecessary money at it as well. But whatevs, fuck biodrones they retarted!!!!!!!!!YEEY!
(seriously, fuck them!)
Kinda different situation, tbh. Codex tastes are niche, and products catering to such tastes are usually much rarer and, to support them, target audience generally are prepared to pay more. And it's normal - look at other niche products (from food to audiophile stuff) . But Bioware RPGs under EA are as mainstream as they come, they are marketed to console crowd, who generally pirate somewhat less and pay somewhat more. So throwing money for mainstream generic product isn't compatible, it doesn't help a struggling niche genre, it's widely available, it haven't got any characteristics which rise it above other similar products (well, except for romances, which are a really stupid reason to pay more — potential customers should just import some eroge or nukige FFS, at least sex scenes would be better. Or better yet should just watch porn or buy some erotica novel).

*They wanted to make sure each specialization requires reactivity. They removed blood magic because it tended to dominate the narrative

it did, especially in dragon age 2 blood magic was the bread and butter of every encounter with mages. it was strange how in both games no one gave a shit if you used it. especially great if you had a blood mage hawke and constantly gave other people shit for using it. i always wanted to roleplay a complete hypocrite, thanks bioware, your shitty writing made me feel included.

You can't get emotionally engaged in a gay sex scene if you can't choose the character's hair color and nose width.

But can you gay-romance a Slenderman in Bioware RPG?

Or a frog?

Or, errr, Iosif Stalin, probably?
tumblr_n6awwdKwRh1r4sqyeo1_400.jpg

Or gay pirate werewolf?

...on the other hand, if Bio won't be dissolved by EA after DA:I's spectacular sales falure, in their next game they'll probably include all of the above.

gay romances stuff

Implying that they aren't already including all of above plus more in DA:I.
Nah, I don't think that they're creative enough to do that. Especially not when Gaider is in charge of writing. Maximum that he can usually do is to make a (sometimes decent, more often terrible) Joss Whedon imitation with an added dose of a bad fanfic style. Also they're taking themselves and their precious characters as serious as any rabid fanfic writer would. So they would be trying to force another murdered hasubando, or tragic past, or somesuch shit, and demand that players would take it as seriously as they do. Honestly, that self-importance about characters and, to lesser extent, romances is what kinda disgust me the most.

tl;dr Nah, they're not creative enough and too "SJW IS SRZ BZNS" to do that.

:retarded:I never thought I would see customers arguing that things should cost more. What kind of retarded mind set do you have to have. I mean I get what the idea behind it is, more effort should = more money so that effort doesn't drop..... But that only works in a fucking fantasy world. How did they get so assfucked that they can't see the complete lack of common sense. If they want moar challenge from their boring first world life why not just break their own knees with a fucking hammer.
It's nearly as retarded as tax payers demanding higher taxes. :obviously:

And write he did....

This will never get old. I'm pretty sure that when I'm 90 years old, and the internet has become the halcyon dream of a naive people who have long since been conquered by rampaging artificial intelligence and now live in tubes, I will still laugh at this.
Really?!? I found it lame even before it became a meme.
While it may be a bad literary device, it's not atrocious. Hell, even MotB uses it. I get it, Gaider thinks he's a great writer while he's competent (for vidya games) at best. (Which means he's quite shitty compared to real writers.) But stil...

Out of respect for your user name, I will tone this done and simply say that David Gaider is a fucking horrible book writer. Horrible. Awful. One of the worst. If he had been forced to take those DA novels and actually compete in the market like 99% of all the other writers of genre fiction have to do, they would have never seen the light of day. An agent or a publisher would have peed himself laughing and thrown them in the trash.

ETA: I know I trashtalk the guy a lot, and maybe I shouldn't do so much of that. I think Gaider really understands how to Dungeon Master a game, which is a completely different skill set from writing a novel. I wish the guy would get back to his fucking roots, because as a designer of fun stories to play through, I have no complaints. He's quite good at that, I think. It's just that he's allowed his artistic sensibility to be overridden by political influence, and that is death for any creative person (in any field!).

Seeing as she is in the "How to write a romance"-panel with the the writing staff for DAI i would guess she is part of the writing staff. Oh dear...

It's pretty lame that all human MC are nobles and no chance to choose other backgrounds like in DA:O, you could choose dwarf commonor or noble or between dalish elf or city elf.
Well I am pretty sure that only other option that might appear is mage tower background..

Does anyone know what background choices elfs, qunari and dwarf gets?
From what we know, all non-mage humans are nobles (just like in Origins, mind you ;)). Elves are dalish wood elves, with no city elves in sight. Dwarves are surface dwarves. Qunari are vashoth - for those not Biolingual, that means a person of the qunari race who is born outside of lands where the Qun is practiced. Not to be confused with the Tal-Vashoth, who are military deserters of the Qun.

This makes perfect sense if you play a woman.
Please don't read more into my asking than my question alone, but what do you mean by saying this? I don't get it.

Karin Weekes, editor for both the Dragon Age and Mass Effect teams. She's currently cosplaying as Empress Celene of Orlais, one of the main characters of the book The Masked Empire, which is surprisingly good for a tie-in novel. I suppose it shows that Patrick Weekes is a published author aside from BioWare credentials =)

Hands down Patrick Weekes is probably their best writer. Too bad he's not part of the new ME game.

Some added context to Karin Weekes' cosplay, cause before I thought about it further it seemed pretty conceited to me that she'd be walking around in one of her own company's characters' robes. But it fits pretty nicely since Celene is gay, and this is GaymerX. Patrick Weekes had a sweet little intro to the book where he thanked the LGBT community for our support, and I suppose that explains why he and Karin would want to go to GaymerX to represent BioWare and why she chose her outfit to be what it is.
