All this talk about mages in DAO made me realize how progressively cucked the magic system became as the games went on. Even if we ignore Shapeshifter because it was an absolute meme (except maybe the flying swarm form but nobody wants to waste points in shapeshifter to get to that) look at the sheer amount of spells you had. And there was a good amount of spell combinations too if I remember.

Never forget the awesome button. Bioware abandoned their roots in favour of appealing to console dweebs.

It was 2010. A dark age of videogames where all the companies wanted to have the same audience as Modern Warfare 2. That means easy action, no brain.

Now it makes sense why they seemed so useless despite the ever increasing spellpower, even with the final rank that makes the animal forms more powerful.

She is a mage. Put her in the party with Wynn and it is easy mode unleashed.

And a crappy one, because of feats wasted on shapeshifting, which I never used. I played as a mage myself, and she was a forever backbenched, alone and forgotten in her tent.

Virulent walking bomb, and I believe she was already on the tree towards mana clash.

Imagine leaving party member auto-spec on. I always specialised Morrigan for entropy and the cold and electricity spells, although all party mages would get at least the basic healing spell and dispell from the spirit school. There should always be party members present who can either heal or dispell. Alistair gets the latter ability from the templar specialisation.

Not everyone plays with respec mod.

I actually find Alistair to be the worst of the lot. His entire schtick is being an immature man-child with daddy issues, and they expect us to take him seriously. At least Oghren is there as comic relief, and there is no misunderstanding about that.

If bioware is smarter they should throw 10 different romance scenes in their first trailer, including one with the griffin involved.

They are still try to catch the old fanbase instead of fully embrace the new degenerate ones. Now they are stuck in between where either side doesn't like them.

Still I like the series' story and want to see what happens next so I'll play it. Combat doesn't look good but the series never had good combat so whatever.

I thought the combat in Origins was fun, obviously how much you like it is dependent on whether you enjoy RTwP but I felt like it was pretty solid, although not particularly deep. If they'd built on that foundation rather than hacking things away for simplicity with each iteration I think it could have ended up with something really interesting.

During my first playthrough, I regretted not killing Zevran when I first met him. I was expecting to get some kind of badass assassin and instead got some pervert who behaves like a fag working at a women's fashion store. In hindsight, it's no surprise that the same studio would go one to create companions like Dorian and Iron Bull. I dread to think how Veilguard will try to one-up those characters. Probably by including their first ever tranny companion if the Qunari warrior in the ads is anything to go by.

Everything in the series past DAO was pure shit that just seemed to get worse and worse with each iteration. One can only hope that after this flops, they'll take the series behind the barn and put it out of its misery. Went from a relatively fun game that had the balls to give each background a different first arc (and referred to it throughout the game, having it affect shit – something that hasn't really been topped since), to what's basically a single player MMORPG with copious amounts of gay sex.
