Imagine the trepidation at Bioware to release this thing seeing as how there's 0 positivity going on around it. I wonder how EA allowed them to create this monstrosity when it would've been obvious from the concept stage that it's going to be awful. The suits must be severely out of touch (which won't surprise me). It's too bad EA can't even profit off of their evil ways.

There is unfortunately some positivity going around it but luckily not from a larger casual audience as far as I can tell, and even though its pre-order numbers are going steadily up, it still havent managed to break into top 10 on Steam a week before the release which is horrible for a game with a budget that is supposedly over 200 million dollars(some poster in this thread speculated it could be higher considering the development time is actually close to 10 years). I also do wonder how higher-ups at EA or even Bioware allowed the most horrible and disgusting identity politics features to be in the game of this scale with basically no attractive looking characters they could use to trick people into buying it. Maybe they wanted people to focus on those rather than anything else about the game, because anyone that criticizes even the most basic gameplay mechanics instantly gets branded with multiple labels.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.

I think by this point there are enough reports about "toxic positivity" in big Western studios, i.e. the entire company culture revolving around ignoring "incels" and "trolls" and "racists". Because they're simply irredeemable haters plus they're just a tiny vocal minority, who cares about them.

Dustborn and Flintlock and Outlaws and Concord and Forspoken and Unknown 9 and Alan Wake 2 and Senua's Saga flopped - in fact you'd be hard pressed to name a single game with a female or POC protagonists that was actually successful lately (IIRC even Forbidden West was a sales disappointment) - but none of this is allowed to be acknowledged or discussed.

So wonder no more, THAT'S how you get monstrosities like this.

(That said I don't expect Veilguard to outright flop, my best guess is it'll sell a lot, based on the strength of the brand and ally-media hype but will generally underperform and probably just barely drag itself over the "paid for itself" line, considering how much the tumescent development of this abomination must've cost).

Dont give attention to this guy, he is one of the rare cases were someone is actually a grifter. Some leftie youtube channel uncovered old posts and videos of his and he was shilling for Ubisoft and Microsoft and saying stuff like he loves black people in games and things like that. He created this persona when his last channel died.
Some leftie youtube channel said so eh?

lol...

Yeah he called this out 2 days ago in a video.

I find it fucking rich from leftoids to call anyone grifter. The real grifters are libtard "influencers" without any reach, a 500 sub (bots) youtube channel and 50 different corporate logos as official sponsors in their profile. Or how about fucking journalists who are literally shilling for corporations, now THAT is a grift. Or how about DEI Compliance Advisor Companies who are a billion dollar grifter industry that devour free BlackRock money by the millions a pop (btw. that is your pension being burned, you pay for it after all).

I feel like i live in a nightmare where nobody knows what the fuck is going on and i am the only sane person.

As the release nears, the Codex hivemind is palpably getting more nervous, as the prospect of DATV being a dumpsterfire turns increasingly into a mirage.

Or do you really think EA would have send out review codes two weeks in advance if they thought they had a turd on their hands?
Maybe someone at EA wants to kill Bioware?

If that was so, they could just close shop overnight.

The mock reviews they pay for always bump the score a couple points just for the sake of keeping the gig going

Remember they thought Concord was going to be a slamdunk

Remember Forspoken also sent out reviews in advance

"Wow. This reviewer just shat on our game, right before release."
"Damn, what a shithead. Tell marketing department at EA to blacklist that cunt from any future events."

^this is why reviewers won't piss on games. The ones who do need to wait for after the official release.

I mean a lot of those RPG channels on YouTube who got to play the game for a few hours all say it’s a presentable action game at best but a shit Dragon Age game and a shit RPG. Not exactly a great endorsement.

And some of these guys are some of the most lukewarm fuckers around.

IIRC, Forspoken got pretty heavily shafted by the mainstream outlets, too. So was Concord.

There's hype, and then there's the actual test.

characters caressing each other while in their underwear;

This lame shit is what happens when you don't have the balls to include explicit and gratuitous sexual content.

Imagine being afraid of losing half your audience and being ass-blasted off consoles. :smug:
Ironically The Witcher beat them with this - while Bioware's romances were still in the teehee handholding stuff, in twitcher you could go full plap plap get pregnant mode
Funnily enough ME: Andromeda of all games had BioWare’s raunchiest sex scene.

But nobody cared because the game was so shit that few people actually played long enough to get the scene and the kind of people that liked the game and played to that point didn’t like the character in question because despite looking like the most stereotypical dyke imaginable she was 100% straight which pissed them off.

Cora or PB?

What's worse is that those who can be called responsible (like the director troon) will probably fall upwards because the HR department always favors their own.

I'm kind of disappointed that so many of them put so much weight on the continuity aspect between games, like what choices get ported to Veilguard. It seemed to generate quite a bit of anger when they announced only three choices get imported.

Well, it's not even possible for many of those journos to point to the fat elephant in the room, so they must focus on other flaws. One thing is certain - if this flops, 2024 will be remembered as the year of mastectomy scars in a fantasy game. And Veilguard as the warning example of how far the lunacy can go.

I didn't think Cora was that bad-looking (I used a hair mod), but I couldn't make it through the immense quantity of shite game that was necessary to see that actual scene

If dumpsterfire has been defined down to Concord numbers then I agree that it will avoid that. Looks like it has at least made the top ten list on steams top sellers as of now. Expectations are low though and even those inclined to love this game seemed to take a step back at seeing how little previous choices matter.

My best guess is it still vastly underwhelms as far as sales go. The greatest potential this game has for me personally is a deep, deep sale in a couple years. Like Starfield.

I get why though. A lot of them are still huge fans of Origins so BioWare essentially telling them to get fucked and that nothing from Origins matters anymore pissed a lot of them off.

Of course we all know the real reason the game is trash but they won’t say it because they’ll get demonetized.

Unless those unrestricted youtube videos leave out the actual sex scene, they don't even seem to undress at any point.

Here are the big red highlights from the IGN Andromeda review, posted a day before release:

Ryder is a likable and well-acted character who can carry the story.

And my stars, do they ever get naked.

Those moments are right up there with the toughest head-scratchers of the original trilogy.

Combat has a much more energetic pace than previous Mass Effects.

I understand the desire to cut down micromanagement, but it’s a bummer.

I'm thinking the odds are high of veilguard review transplanting these same sentences.

Oh, and the score was not just 7/10, it was 7.7/10, nothingsauce to the nothingburger
