To be fair, DA:O concept art wasn't something to write home about either but this is just fucking awful.
Still more of a realist style instead of the caricatural armors from DA2 onwards with their elongated geometric shapes. Not to mention the absolute travesty of Colgate-using Darkspawn. To be fair, DA:O concept art wasn't something to write home about either but this is just fucking awful.

Maybe theyArt-style aside, what the fuck is going on in that scene?
Looks like DA4 is going to be some battle-royale shit, with everyone fighting everyone at the same time all over the place.
DAO had mostly mediocre armors, but done in a serviceable realist(ish) style. DA2+ had none of that. Only good armor in DAI was the Templar one for warriors and arguably some of the Warden ones, while the others were simply shit visually. At least Inquisition had some sets that looked decent DAO had zero

DAO had a lot of good armours, there was no clear best one. Also it looked pretty good if you like realism.DAO had mostly mediocre armors, but done in a serviceable realist(ish) style. Also, DAO's Legion of the Dead set (& the other standard Dwarven heavy armors of which it was a variant) was great:
This is why we can't have nice things anymore.just the new status quo for Western fantasy
Here is something nice that goes well with a cup of coffee. This is why we can't have nice things anymore.just the new status quo for Western fantasy

It's actually an improvement over DAI concept art, which was drenched in tumblr

Man! That art looks so damn good. A bloody bloodstain dragon painting a lone warrior in a death-filled battlefield. Also hot witch, all contrasted against a pure white background. Damn it's good! Game sequels keep losing their edge along the way, I have no idea why! I mean even Mortal Kombat became some wussy garbage now.. when did everyone become wussies..

And let's not forget, DA4 is about fucking family! -_-
