There's also a book that expands on his and king's story, but I haven't read it
I did. Basically he hates Orlais with his entire being. Anything or anyone that associates with Orlais is automatically presumed as compromised.
Well, actually, he was maniuplated by elben godz from the fourth dimension. Nice head canon tho, chud.
I understand how talentless hacks write poor characters. But to take a fine character and retcon him into a poor one is something new

I dunno, the discourse on the net around Veilguard is exactly the same as it was around Concord before release - relentless shitting and memeing.

I'm not sure it bodes well for its financial success
The current shitposting definitely is a "return to form" to old days of TORtanic shitposting. I am proud of you all!
TORtanic? TOR was a decent storyfag MMO (like TESO), not even in the same ballpark as troonguard.
It was hated by people who:
A. Don't play MMOs
B. Did expect single player KOTOR3.

Tried TOR and had fun. The ability to enjoy the story and edgy dialogue while playing solo is a good thing, you can easily ignore other players as nuisance they are. I also mtx'd some cheap skinset for cyber waifu, because she looked hideous by default, and race swapped her into cuter blonde babe. It's also the only old republic game where you can play as non jedi. If not for all that i would have quit it after a few hours. Gameplay is peak mmo and not in a good way. Then i got bored and played something else, but it's definitely not as bad as people claimed all things considered.

this guy is the most fun btw

Kind of an anticlimax to be honest, its not bad enough to be a disaster and not good enough to be an outright success, tho that didnt stop trannies on twitter and reddit celebrating it as a huge win.

I thought the reason why Loghain betrayed the King was because the King was an idiot who wanted to do some suicidal charge at the Darkspawn for glory. It's been a decade since I last played Origins though so I could be wrong on this.
Basically, yeah. But also, Alastair's brother was diplomatically flirting with the empress of Orlais (even with hints of an actual marriage), and Logan resented any possibility of the Feral Den compromising its hard-fought independence from the empire.

What does this have to do with Vilefart, though? It's set in Neverwinter Tevinter. Right? Actually who cares, it's woke trash.

It's very complicated and controversial. Calian certainly didn't help himself, but Loghain absolutely jumped at the opportunity. He didn't have to frame the Grey Wardens for regicide, he certainly didn't have to usurp the throne and make himself regent, he absolutely did not have to meddle in the Circle affairs and promote Uldred's bullshit (it's very easy to miss, but he's directly to blame for the circle questline), and there was nothing about the situation that demanded him to elevate earl Howe into the position he was in, or recruit a blood mage to assassinate his political rivals.
Framing Grey Wardens was necessary to deflect future accusations coming from them considering that Wardens were directly involved with the king and the battle. Promoting Howe is just an attempt to secure foothold at the capital by installing a man with personal investment in Loghain's success. Makes sense considering that nobles are expectedly not too happy with an usurper on the throne and mounting an opposition. Same thing with assassination attempt. All of this is perfectly rational real politick, brutal but reasonable, regardless of original motivation. Even if your ultimate goal is to save your country, securing the throne with whatever means necessary has to come first. It's actually kinda incredible to think that a game character could have this level of nuance at some point. Especially compared to pulling a barf in current year.

There's still some juice ahead. People who will end up disliking it, people are not ok with endings, and the barv stuff is not universally liked in those circles already.

It's not schadenfreude, it's just relief that a disaster was narrowly avoided. If this objectively awful product was successful, it would be a sign of the further decline of our society. Not that I'm yet convinced that it will be a complete flop, because there are a lot of idiots and culture warriors out there. Let's see how it looks in a few days.

No, it's schadenfreude. Look at those twitter trannies acting like a mediocre showing is a massive success. LOSERS!

Nah, non of that was true. The servers were fucked with queues that were 8-10 hours long, bugs and exploits galore, broken main quests, bad performance, a lot of bans for gold farmers that were done to legit people, they closed the AH and before that it was barely functioning, PvP was terrible and nothing else to do at max level (I think they had only 3 operations at launch) and etc. Actually for single player swtor was decent, but for mmo the game was totally empty at max level.

The major thing here is not whether it's a complete flop (it was never going to be), but that it's certainly not a return to form 9/10 whatever, like the IGNs told me

Give it a few days now. The real controversy is going to start when the normies get exposed to the LGTBQ+ crap.
And the terrible writing.
And the awful combat.
And besides some of the environments the game’s ugly as shit too. Jesus, does it have a single redeeming quality outside of being fun to laugh at? Is the music good?

Starfield released on a Wednesday, reached 250k players on launch day, and reached its peak the next weekend at 330k.
BG3 left early access on a Thursday, reached almost 500k on launch day, 800k on the weekend and peaked at 880k next weekend.
Veilguard reached 70k on launch day. By the same logic, it might reach 100k on Sunday, or maybe a few k more than that.

The copium will be that "more players bought it on console or played in on the EA App" but, taking into account the franchise, the companies involved, the mega marketing and positive reviewing campaign, and the lack of any real alternatives in the market atm, it most certainly is a flop no matter how one choses to see it.

C. Care about the lore established in K1 & TSL.
D. Despise when former PCs are regressed by retarded writers.

It's oft told some of the other class stories were done well, but it was pure decline where it counted most. Not spiritually revolting like Failguard, but insulting enough at the time for people who wanted a proper conclusion to KotOR.

Took a look at the endings and jesus fucking christ.
All game events starting with Origins were puppeteered by some shadowy Organization 13 esque group. They were behind Loghain's actions among other things.

These writers managed to make the same monumental oopsie that retroactively wrecked early Kiseki games with Erebonian Curse by taking all the agency away from actual political players and actions in favor of yet another cringe supernatural villain. And judging by the quality of Veilguard's antagonists, in DA5 (if it ever happens) we won't be fighting two Corypheuses, but an even larger group of the same worthless saturday morning cartoon rejects.
