You thought Origins was safe from these hacks since this was a soft reboot of the franchise? Nope, turns out a bunch of mystery niggas have been manipulating EVERY SINGLE event throughout the franchise. Those old debates on whether Loghain acted out of greed or desperation? No some spooky man made him do it. Bravo Weekes, absolute peak writing.

As if their average fan is not a 30 year old manchild
Even that doesn't add up. If true, it would mean the fans played DA:O in their impressionable teens and imprinted higher expectations. They wouldn't want this.

Maybe they wanted to appeal, not to 12 year olds, but to the parents of 12 year olds. "I played DAO before you were born, now you can pick up the torch and play a DA game too! Only this version is simple and sanitized and won't inspire distressing thoughts."

The only kind of "normie" who buys games like this, especially a game so queer / girl coded as Veilguard, is a teenage girl. They don't identify as nonbinary but they're definitely cool with the liberal message, especially if they're in arts or humanities.
I think they are gamers out there that don't check promotional stuff. They just see Dragon Age and remember the last game was kinda fun, and buys it. I used to do that - not following pre-release stuff when I had a life :)

To be fair, it's not like Loghain was ever made to be a reasonable, good leaning person. He was a cartoon villain from the get go.

That instantly makes it non-canon to me. Much like the nu-Star Wars, Alien franchise and such.

Loghain was a good villain, but to learn his motivations you had to recruit him and talk to him, which very few people did.

There's also a book that expands on his and king's story, but I haven't read it

Loghain was a good character. From Origins up till Inquisition it was left purposely unclear if he betrayed the king because he was power-hungry or because he feared the king would sell his country to Orlais, and they left clues that supported both reasons scattered throughout Origins.

So now they say that "ACTUALLY HE WAS MANIPULATED INTO DOING IT"? Lame and gay.

I thought the reason why Loghain betrayed the King was because the King was an idiot who wanted to do some suicidal charge at the Darkspawn for glory. It's been a decade since I last played Origins though so I could be wrong on this.

Inquisition made it pretty clear that they are going with the "We wuz ebil elven godz" explanation for everything.

Gaider's ideas weren't completely horrendous as long as he was kept in check by his sane colleagues and the more sane era of 2000s in general.
