The only kind of "normie" who buys games like this, especially a game so queer / girl coded as Veilguard, is a teenage girl. They don't identify as nonbinary but they're definitely cool with the liberal message, especially if they're in arts or humanities.

I think they are gamers out there that don't check promotional stuff. They just see Dragon Age and remember the last game was kinda fun, and buys it. I used to do that - not following pre-release stuff when I had a life

Loghain was a good villain, but to learn his motivations you had to recruit him and talk to him, which very few people did.

There's also a book that expands on his and king's story, but I haven't read it

Inquisition made it pretty clear that they are going with the "We wuz ebil elven godz" explanation for everything.
