I should think what you'd need to do is:

  • create a second Steam account
  • activate Family Sharing (Google the procedure)
  • add second account to Family Sharing
  • send friend request from main account to second account
  • accept friend request

Now you have two separate accounts and can freely rent pawns between the two. Still, the main reason to do this is if, like me, you want to try a Sorcerer but are playing a Fighter/Warrior/Assassin (like me) with trash-tier Magick. If you just want Rift Crystals, join some GameFAQs or Steam "rent each others' pawns" group and add a ton of people.

Note, my pawn at the moment is moonlighting as Warrior to inject some offensive power into Strider/Archer. Two more ranks until I can grab Clout, and I believe I'm about to enter the final or near-final stage of the pre-Dragon game in which Gryphic Armor and such finally become available for general purchase.

The bow tiering is WAY off in this game. You get access to nothing but the most basic longbow with absolute shit-tier damage until after you're well into the mid-game, and only one slightly upgraded shortbow. I was so relieved when I got access to Veteran's Bow and Pleached Limbs. Fucking ridiculous.

You can get a pretty decent bow (but expensive) at Gran Soren with the forgery making guy
You can sell the monocle or some of the overpriced DLC stuff to buy the bow and that will get you nicely
Also if you are a fighter type and have a ranger pawn giving hi her the rusted blades with a couple of upgrades is very fun

They definitely paid way more attention to the melee weapons. It's trivially easy to find a sword, greatsword, hammer or set of daggers appropriate to your level, and there's some fairly obvious spots to find extra nice ones as well (like the sword in the stone.) Staves aren't terrible to keep up with either. Everything else though... urgh.

One of the very first escort quests near the beginning of the game (and a fairly easy one to complete, since Ser Berne can actually defend himself) rewards you with Gryphic Victory, which is essentially the strongest greatsword or hammer in the game until post-Dragon, or close to it.

Invictus I've only used a few of the DLC items (circlet, snake armguard, one of the chest pieces), primarily because they looked cooler than Official Level One Brown Rags, and will never sell them for a profit. That would be cheating, at least until BBI when you get a million gold every time you smash a pot. Of course, I'm not above running Watergod's Altar or killing 50 oxen, equipping 4x Suasion, and then selling all the aged meat or rings for 150,000+ gold, but then I worked for it.

You know, I think they missed an opportunity to add more variety. There are essentially only three distinct melee weapons in this game, but with reskins and alternate sound effects: broadsword/warhammer, greatsword/greathammer, and daggers.

Hatchets or handaxes would have been a great alternate reskin to daggers for a "ranger-like" feel.

I don't suppose there's any way to deconsolise the interface somewhat? basic options not hidden behind multiple menus, quicksave/quickload etc

Yeah Blaine I dont like cheating like that either but you have the option to get some money if you want to go that route
:P
I thought warrior pawns were kind or retarded because they messed up most of their charge up moves but since switching my pawn she can really lay the smackdown with the non chargable ones like the 360 attack and a jumping stab. I was only originaly thinking of maxing her as warrior to get a couple of goodies and the switch her back to fighter but I might keep her a bit more, after getting a very nice ranger pawn with some actual good skills and inclinations along with my underpowered healer wizards my team is pretty much set

Always amusing to log back on and see/hope that someone has used your pawn. I'm only lvl 8 but it was used by two overnight, received a rotten fish and a rock :incline:

Ugh... First fight that I almost had to flee from. Not because it was tough, but because it was such bullshit.

Metal Golem, MC Mystic Knight, seal in a fucking tree. GG.

Magic Cannon deals magic damage... seal is impervious to magic damage.

Great cannon actually does hurt golem crystals, although I wouldn't try it without super powerful BBI gear.

Great cannon seems like it does or doesn't break shit's DT at random, I'm always surprised by the thing it won't damage vs. the thing it will obliterate in 5 seconds.

I think it may have something to do with the active buff as well. Maybe.

I did kill it with GC in the end, but it took forever. And the weird thing was that the health bar reduced by practically nothing and then jumped down. My pawn was occasionally casting an enchantment on me and the sword I was using had an element as well.

Great Cannon is fucking great, love it.

I cheesed my way through the Gorecyclops at the start of BBI with it, just by standing right around the corner at the entrance and summoning the cannon and hitting homeruns with frost weapon. Took a while, but I basically solo'd him, cause my pawns were all fucking retarded.

If you haven't tried it yet, drop great cannons by a monster and then a ruinous sigil on top of them with the cannons and monster in it. Or drop great cannons inside miasma or fulmination.

Defeated Gazer, finally went back to Olga to purify some items and I just had 2 novelties? I am pretty sure I had a shitload more that I send to storage earlier... Pretty mad.

Oh boy, Oh boy. I found a mod that makes no restriction to what you can equip.

You know what that means ?

You can freely mix and match support with main weapon but you can't put two main weapons or two support ones.
As for skills there is different mod for that and you can freely customize what skills you want to use as long as you choose them according to type of weapon you are using.

Probably class related. IF you for example will use mystic knight class and you will use daggers and shield then probably shield will be on back.

Either way i need to play more than few hours to see if it works well with rest of classes as i don't have access currently to rest of classes (just started game and i spend most of my time fiddling with it)

Here is the mod in question. You have to edit mod .ini for those things :

No restrictions at all? Can I put daggers in both slots, and give myself a combination of strider, assassin, and magick archer dagger skills then?

huh, I figured the reason mystic knights kept the shield on their back was some kind of animation issue with staff + shield, but I guess not

I added to my mods as well lower XP rate (half). When i played back on PS3 with like half of game you pretty much had all skills and abilities of every class.

That's very common at low levels, but once you hit 30-50, especially if you're like me and don't rush to progress the story and get phat lewtz ASAP, even those will drop off a cliff. In general you'll need to make sure you have:

  • good primary and secondary inclinations (check the Wiki for details, it's important)
  • good gear, upgraded if possible
  • non-retarded name (although, for some people, joke names or tribute characters can be a plus)
  • doesn't look or sound like shit, nice matching/complementary gear
  • sensible and useful spread of abilities and augments that complement inclinations; this is hard to nail down as tastes vary, but a Mage for example with Pioneer/Challenger, High Anodyne, High Halidom, Fire Affinity, Holy Affinity, and two good offensive spells is what many people would probably want)

If you're hurting for rentals, joining a "rent and rent alike" group is the way to go. You'll need to rent others' pawns too of course, and they likely won't be quite as optimal as the cream of the crop you can find on an all-inclusive search.

I'm having a really odd bug at Rotwood Depository, the water on the floor appears as a flat texture. Am I alone in this? Never had any issues before this.

Speaking of DD's development, the success of the PC version will influence whether or not they'll be making a sequel.

Speaking to PC Gamer, producer Minae Matsukawa stated that Dragon's Dogma 2 could still happen. "The Dragon’s Dogma development team members often talk about the possibility of a sequel," said Matsukawa. She added that a continuation really depends on fan feedback for the upcoming PC port of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, as that "will increase the chances that we can look into the possibility of continuing the series."
