What if we took a skeletal knight... and made it silver?
What if we took a stout undead... and made it bigger?
What if we took an ogre... and made it white?

Are there any enemies in the BBI that are actually new? Excluding maggot shits. The cursed dragon thing at least has a cool texture, and the flaming saurians are kinda neat I guess. But basically everything I've run into so far is just bigger/a different colour. Even the rooms are recolours, or have some extra fire scattered around.

Also, I'm considering just selling any curative that doesn't affect a group (so I can give it to pawns) and isn't for stamina/health regen. I don't want to look through 51 different fucking bottles to ascertain which one cures lowered self-esteem or whatever. I've got so much money I might as well just carry a bunch of Cure Everything potions.

Hmmm. The final boss, mimics and eliminators spring to mind. Death too. Most things are beefed up versions of normal monsters though. If there's ever a Dragon's Dogma 2, we'll need to see a serious revamp of the beastiary to make it good.

There's the living armours as well. I think the gargoyles are also new? I'd count the garms too, they're more than larger wolves at that point.

I've got no gripes about variants on monsters though. I'd rather have 20 extra variants than like 1 extra original monster.

Welp, I'm getting bored to tears fighting endless health sponges. I just started down the third major path in BBI (Rotwood Despository), and hey look here's a phantom, except no it's red and takes even longer to kill whilst still being utterly unthreatening. And there's a saurian, except no wait it's bigger and requires me to use dragon's maw 4 or 5 times to kill it even with 1700+ attack and its tail cut off. Aaaand now there's another elder ogre with ten fucking health bars. It's like trying to kill an elephant with a fork.

Ah yes, I was wondering what would break first: your spirit, or your stamina restores.

Run past shit to loot chests to get better weapons

So what you're saying is I should grind out some loot in BBI (with a tiny chance to get a BBI item that will maybe turn into something I can use) so I can get further in BBI so I can grind out some better loot (eventually) so I can go further in BBI so I can kill the boss? Yeah no thanks, I think I'll just go back to fucking around in the Everfall or something until I get bored. I still haven't encountered a hydra yet.

There's a billboard quest (Pablos' Inn, "A Challenge") that takes you to the Frontier Caverns to fight a Hydra. Also, you can find a more powerful Archydra in the Everfall's Chamber of Hesitation (also part of a billboard quest, found at Gran Soren).

Garm?
Living Armor?
Gold and Silver Knights?

Oh and the GoreCyclops also got... a little... larger frame. I wonder how you'll like those.

BBI in a nutshell, yes.

Quite fun for a while due to the challenge though - which was largely lacking in regular games' later stages.

Fucking mimics, men. Anyone knows what determines the difficulty of those quicktime events by the way?

If you're having trouble in BBI, try spamming the explosives on things. The throwblasts. They're insanely powerful. How far in it are you anyways? Did you fight the mid boss yet? The decent weapons/items are very likely drops from the more powerful enemies, if you're getting a bunch of trash in BBI it's because you're opening all the easy low tier chests.

Also, those stat buffing items (Fournival sells them) are amazing for boss fights above your level. Take you from doing slivers to huge chunks if you stack 4 of whatever your damage stat is.

The boring way of dealing with mimics as a solo is getting the fighter augment that lets you mash out of escapes easily. It's also really good in BBI in general since there are a whole lot of "get grabbed and probably die" attacks without it if you aren't overlevelled and keeping your armor top tier.

The Magick's Archer's self-immolation skill is more effective at it IMO.
The assassin also has some timed explosive skill that some players wind around the chest before opening it.

Magick Archer tears them all to shreds with ricochet hunter, it's amazing.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Picked up the game last week. Story is banal boring shit, combat is nowhere near as engaging as DS (big bosses are very fun tho), quests are mostly terrible (I swear I've escorted like 10 people to the most fucking remote corners of the map, guiding their terrible AI through the deadliest mobs imaginable), the mob respawn is annoying and the itemization inscrutable (why did I get a super powerful set of items right from the start and why are some crap items so eye-poppingly expensive?).

So why I have been playing it for three days straight and still enjoying it?

Dragon's Dogma is just careless fun done right. An action game with many different things to try. Though unpolished, the game does have a handful of good ideas.

But for Lord's sake stay away from the generic escort quests.

The PC version of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen includes a few "content packs" that required purchase on the PS3 version. A few pieces of armor/clothing from these packs automatically appear in stored inventory at the start of a new game, but they're overpowered for a new character, so you should avoid using them...except of course for the Ruminator's Monocle. :obviously:

But for Lord's sake stay away from the generic escort quests.
There are a few escort quests with worthwhile rewards, but I only take them after first traveling to the quest destination and placing a Portcrystal, so that I can complete the escort quest via teleportation within a few seconds of accepting it . +M

I learned my lesson early in my first game, on the PS3, escorting Adaro to the Shadow Fort the long way around.

Mmmm. As a Warrior, Ser Berne to the Shadow Fort when you first arrive in Gransys. You gotta do it! (need to first gift him a few things at the Camp to max his affinity).

Yeah, I guess you can. Particularly if you make a few loot trips to the Soulflyer Canyon.
Buuut..... getting something as overpowered so early is pure win!

Almost as good as getting Dragon Slicer in Gothic 2 Act 1.
