Huffing a mask for several years pointlessly while working at a dead-end business probably didn't help too much.

This thread is just despair.

Isn't it great? Not only we don't have any news of DD2, now with the "making of" we will also take a look at all the nice things that DD1 could had have, but didn't because of a rushed release and cut content.

Wasting precious minutes watching the showcase lead to me reading about Dragons Dogma which lead to me pulling up this thread which lead to me glossing over all your despair which lead to me checking out the Steam listing and seeing DD is on sale for around the average price of a dollar-store sandwich.

So tell me, you sad, sad motherfuckers, Is it worth it even if playing it will make me as despondent as all of you? This isn't like DS where all the online elements have died out is it? Does the fact that I don't care about Monster Hunter a benefit or a negative?

Online components are working. The game is flawed and unfinished but quite unique; if you end up liking it, you will probably love it. While people compare it to MH, the games are not that similar beyond the fact that you can get materials form monsters and the environment to improve your gear, but the gameplay loop isn't only boss fights like MH, instead is about questing and dungeon crawling, specially Dark Arisen. It feels like one of the closest thing we will ever have to a good DnD action Rpg. Combat and classes are fun but incredible unbalanced. Almost every class can trivialize the game with the right set of skills and gear, even the allegedly weakest one (warrior). You are sure to find a class that suit your taste thanks to a good variety of game play styles.

A warning, the beginning is a little bit slow. Once you reach Gran Soren and you have access to more classes, which happen quite early, the game start becoming more fun progresively. Remember you can kick the Ox in the escort mission to go faster and it cannot die, just stops a few seconds if it runs out of HP. I recommend playing it in Normal Difficulty because Hard is kind of fucked, as it increases the amount of gold enemies drop, and will end up making things easier because you will be swimming on gold in no time (although if you don't want any kind of grinding for money it may be a good idea to try it, but be careful, at the start of the game every enemy will one-shot you).

Well if our suffering gets you interested in checking out Dragons Dogma and you end up liking it I'd take that as a victory.

A cruel one but a victory none the less.

Online elements...? Not in the GOG version anyway, but as far as I know all you could ever do was "pawn rentals" to spend/earn RC. You can just mod your offline pawns to be whatever you want and grind for RC in Bitterblack Isle.

When you get bored of the main game you can make it MUCH harder, like Souls games I guess (never played 'em). Start a new game, kill the first cyclops, get your pawn, go back to Cassardis at night and go straight to BBI. Get some decent BBI equipment, rush through the main quest to get it all dragonforged, carry on with the harder parts of BBI, and find materials to get your gear silver/gold forged. That's what it's all about.

There happens to be an informative article about Dragon's Dogma written by a prestigious Codexer for felipepepe's CRPG Book, if you want a fairly brief overview of the game. :M

My only recommendation is to look up information on pawn inclination, since this is quite poorly explained within the game itself. If you're playing on-line, then you'll probably select support pawns created by other players, which will generally have well-selected inclinations for their given vocation, but if you are playing off-line and therefore relying on procedurally-generated support pawns, you should download a mod such as Choose Hired Pawn Inclination to select an acceptable pair of inclinations which will be applied to the procedurally-generated pawns.

Itsuno was on Capcom summer fest annouciong 10th anniversary dragon's dogma in coming days. Itsuno was mentioned as lead for DD2.

Pretty sure we will get something DD2 in few days.

Can't fucking wait. DD was one of my favorite games. I just hope they won't change it into completely something else and instead polish, expand and rework some of systems in that game, add coop for 2,3,4 players.

Damn, I'm glad I didn't bother staying up for this. What the fuck

They will be effectively starting Dragon's Dogma anew. There is no way they would be doing some trailer in that summerboringfest. They prepared whole 10th anniversary stuff and no doubt it will be about DD2. DD2 according to leaks is also supposed to come late this year. So they want huge PR campaign for it to sell.

The first DD was Capcom "skyrim" and was supposed to sell 10 million copies as they invested a lot into that game. IT essentially failed selling something like 1-2 mln at start but then got revitalized by PC release and further remasters. Selling more than 4-5 mln showing capcop there is thirst for it.

They don't even have to do much, just make the pawns romanceable and sales will explode like a reverse black hole.

Do you like adventuring in RPGs?
Do you like dungeon crawling?
Do you like responsive action games?
Do you like playing with broken, espectacular and fun skills and spells?
Do you like good boss fights?
Do you like imperfect, but creative games that are completely different to current trends and are not worried to try cool things?

This man knows. Imagine this being the only concession to have prestigious dungeon crawling and aventuring again.
