I ignored the shield parry skills entirely, but this time I'll make an effort to use them
So, did you?

Yes. I'm still not a fan of parry/timing related gameplay but in this case I enjoyed giving it an honest try. They were surprisingly potent and worth the risk.
Forgive the bluntness but aren't all action games timing related gameplay?
To keep this related to Dragon's Dogma, no, I don't think so. Timing is not all that critical to success in DD. Combat is more tactical where exploiting enemy weaknesses (be it using a certain damage type or attacking a weak spot) and positioning is what will earn you your victories. Some of these can be done at leisure from a distance. I'm bad at rhythmic button prompts and tend to whiff most of my parries in games (in DD the timing is more forgiving so I was able to get into it) but never have any special problems with action games otherwise. At the base level I suppose it's mostly to do with how tight the devs want the timing to be. In many cases parrying is more of a prestige mechanic so they can make it a bit harder to do reliably unless you're that good at timing things.

I wonder if this will end up coming out on PS4 too?

So far they haven’t really shown anything that’d indicate a reason why it couldn’t be. With the recent reports that Final Fantasy 16 didn’t meet Square Enix’s expectations and blaming it on the slow adoption rate of the PS5, and EA announcing they’re releasing a PS4 version of Jedi: Survivor, it seems like the current generation still isn’t at a place where it can carry a title like publishers expect. It’s definitely not a place publishers thought things would still be by this point, like Resident Evil Village wasn’t even original going to have a previous gen version.

Built with the RE Engine, Dragon's Dogma 2 presents a densely packed fantasy world that's roughly four times the size of the first game. Expect plenty to see and do in your adventures!

I really like the aesthetic of DD. It is similar to Dark Souls and Battle Brothers: a base of classical medieval fantasy done with really good taste, then more original bits on top that make the world even more interesting.

I'm of the opinion that the mundane elements in fantasy (and near future or otherwise grounded sci-fi) should be very mundane and normal looking to make the fantastical all that more fantastical. Dragon's Dogma is one of the few games I think pulls it off. All the basic armor is pretty basic and mostly based on realistic stuff (I'd have loved to have seen a lower end standalone breastplate as armor and a gambeson with mail sleeves+skirt as clothing since NPCs get it but nothing is perfect), the high end armor (e.g., Griffon) is ornate and somewhat grounded, and the highest end stuff is just crazy.

Agree wholeheartedly. It is classic, not generic. A lot of what people tastelessly call "generic" is simply classic. Plebeians, all of them.

Rest assured DD2 will be plebeian at best.
We're more than a decade after the original, Japanese games have declined significantly.
They're following the Western Zeitgeist, because Japan is just another US vassal after all.

Nigzilla the mega-brain, unable to fathom the change in the last decade.
And the Canadian mediocre slave embarrasses himself as well. Why am I not surprised.

This time I'll be the one to tell you "I told you so". And you cretins will struggle to defend the lack of height, weight and breast sliders, their lacking consequence on gameplay, you'll defend the dumbing down of the layered armor systems and the simplification of classes (no bows & daggers) etc. And you'll defend the inclusion of pronouns, body types instead of sexes etc.

You retarded decline-enabling faggots.
Quote me when the game releases.

If they do have sliders, the height will go down to about 5'6 max, the weight will of course include obese, and the breast sliders will all be variations of B in size. Of course it will have pronouns and body types instead of sexes. As for the dumbing down, I guess we will find out soon enough. The gameplay will most likely be solid though.
