Well in the leaked preview, you only have to kill the boss. Same as DX1.

The boss kills himself. So not really you killing him in all cases...

Do you have to/can hide unconscious enemies to not rise the suspicion level?

Or is it a purer ghost style there?

One of the things i liked the most about DX is that it could be "anti-epic".

You can run away in most boss battles. Isn't that a natural reaction that most games completely disregard?

Or imagine this: the boss runs away, and it's not a specifically prepared cutscene. It's just a natural result of the AI and luck that later on even gets noticed. The Anne Navarre bug is like this, more or less.

Let me know when DE gets a sequel/prequel that's not about flashy takedowns and being cool.

I wonder what would happen in that area if the soldiers were placed farther apart. If the game would detect that automatically and then trigger the cutscene for you just disabling one of them, while the other in background unloads a gun at you, then it's salvageable.

If not, then its mechanics are too rigid to be worthwhile.

Cutscene? In 360 version played with Kinect, you gotta perform those actions boy. They suggest using carving knives tucked up your sleeve for realism.

I've been in a vaguely similar situation, where I did a flashy animated takedown on the guy on the right while both the dudes were talking. Dude on the left watched me arm blade the fuck out of his bro until the animation was done, at which point he shot me dead.

Now that's smart A.I. Two birds with one stone. First guard was obviously doing his wife. :smug:

Another thing, I don't get the Deus Ex feel at all. None of the good old (/new) "we're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine. And the machine is bleeding to death" feel. DE1 had way heavier atmosphere.

Pity the game has no corpse retrieval system like hitman, the dark mod and thief so they more or less ignore them.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that enemies ignore corpses you've left? This is completely untrue.

Anyway, I'm liking it so much that I'm thinking of deleting the playthrough without going for that warehouse so that I don't spoil myself. What can I say, the preview beta got me infinitely more hyped than anything the publisher's marketing team could come up with*

*Unless the leak was controlled, of course. Which I'm currently wondering about, seeing as how the "preview build" is really stable and no features were cut - while from what I've read over these years I've gathered that common industry practice are very buggy builds with a lot of non-essential features cut.

In desu ex 1? I believe they only care about attacks that they can see. If they patrol besides a knocked out body they don't give a shit. Why else do you think you can go into cutscenes with your boss carrying bodies and lulzy shit like that.

And yeah this smells like a demo probably with a rootkit so they can track you.

Why make a demo only for journalists? No there is something sneaky going on.

Enemies wake up? Would make for harder sneaking. Maybe lock them on sound proof cupboard without coms.

Though i doubt that the designers thought head of that. Might be simply very hard, like doing a all accidents "silent assassin" run of the casino/hotel blood money level. That was a bitch about timing, making the first target sedation/kill in the first minute and why did the stupid 47 didn't just take the phone into the lobby.

And what the fuck was with the elevator system in that game (blood money). WTF stupid interface was that.

In fact in the hotel area it is infuriating how the elevators are there but they just don't go to the 8th floor, i have to climb the trellis on the veranda.

I'd say it's highly likely given the surprising lack of butthurt corporate response. Moreover, people are allowed to post impressions on the official forums.

Stunned enemies stay stunned when left alone, but others shake them and wake them up if the body's seen.

Um... those have existed (and been leaked occasionally) for 15+ years.
What I'd like to know is, does this build really have only the first 12 hours? If it does, I'm not playing anymore for now; already saw what I wanted to see.

"Leaks" seem to happen an awful lot this days.

I'd say it's certainly becoming a part of advertisement.

^this.

people might forgive bugs and bad graphics in "unofficial beta leaks". but not in officially released demos.

If no features were cut, then this is one consolized piece of shit.
Have you looked in the goddamn options?

And when Witcher had no invert option it was an outrage, but this not having an option to turn off the fucking mouse smoothing is apparently completely fine.

There is no mouse smoothing. Only thing there is is different X/Y mouse sensitivity.

Have you tried turning off vsync? That causes horrible input lag.

I never use vsync.

I don't give a shit what it exactly is, the mouse controls are horrible.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
The music is great.
Music is one of the most important things to get right.

Also bitching at a preview version as if it was the real thing is a bit meh, isn't it?

And that one boss you can avoid in DX 1 through a bug? Nigga, please!

I don't remember a single reasonable poster who entered rage mode because there was no invert mouse option in the pre-patch TW2. Actually, you've got to be pretty fucking dumb to call a game shit because you can't invert your mouse.

And now for something completely different - I've decided to put this one on hold instead of finishing it, same reasons as Korgan. Though I'm now playing doing funny shit around. Like entering Chiron lobby and performing a takedown on Megan's mother - almost always it's a fist to the face. I've also (after a number of reloads and creative use of grenades, mines and vents) managed to murder the whole police station, each and every officer. I've gotta try that again and see if there's a surprise for you on the street like in Bloodlines or does Sarif comment on it. Storywise you should get a game-over as killing thirty or so cops would make you helluva fugitive.

I've already been over this. There is no boss you have to kill in DX1. Just Anna Navarre, and she can be avoided with a bug - exposing unused dialog too. You cause deaths in cutscenes and allow some to take place (anne killing lebdev, the launching of the missile).

Pity the game has no corpse retrieval system like hitman, the dark mod and thief so they more or less ignore them.

Gunther's avoidable?

Takedowns are so over-the-top, I wish there was a way you could not break people's bones every time you neutralize them.

Mouse control is atrocious. It doesn't properly sync up on both axes. Looking down I find my sensitivity is much lower than when I'm looking left and right.

The cover system would be better if enemies could throw grenades or charge/flank to draw you out. I'm playin on the proper difficulty level and have not expierienced any such behavior so far.

Other than that... it's brilliant. Stylistically different from DX, but that's understandable given it's a "historically" different time period.

You just have to:

Use the computer in the room you meet him in, and set up the System Uplink.

If you rush straight for it, you can do so before dialogue initiates, and after he has his speech you can just run off. I am pretty sure you can't actually knock him out though. I don't recall being able to do that with any of the Mech's. It might just be that I suck too much to pull it off, but yes, Gunther is avoidable at the very least.
