Where is the viking class they demonstrated early on? That's the one I'm going with. No magic for me.

My Souls-fu says Vagabond is the class to go with, balanced physical stats, and no points wasted on magics or the meme stat.
Can basically start leveling it to any direction.
Fextralife has been compiling the classes:

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Classes

Hero: Strength build, has axe + shield
Warrior: Dex build, has two scimitars
Vagabond: Quality build, sword and board with extra halberd
Bandit: Sneaky-ass thief with knife and shortbow, has the highest Arcane stat, which is Luck + Resistance. Possily the best for gimmick builds?
Samurai: Weeb build, has the uchigatana and a longbow with a bunch of arrows
Astrologer: Intelligence caster, has a shortsword
Prisoner: Melee/Intelligence build, has an estoc
Prophet: Faith caster, has a spear
Confessor: Melee/Faith build, has a sword and chield, starts at the highest level
Wretch: Level 1 build, has all stats at 10 and comes with a club

I'm gonna go with the Strength build, find myself a pair of Maces and smash my way through the land.

I'd like to play a STR/FTH build since I always liked their concept, but I don't want to risk Faith being underwhelming for offensive playstyles since that feels like it ends up being the case more often than not.
Might just pick Warrior or Vagabond instead and then make a decision depending on which spells/miracles I pick up or find in merchant stocks.

Gonna go with Confessor. I usually play Str/Faith and the new flail weapon class seems fitting for that.

Since my first build in every Souls game was a strength warrior, this time it will be a dex build, with something pointy, like an estoc or a rapier. Based on some gameplay videos, there's a lot of casting in this game, so all that dexterity should make it faster.

There's a new interview with Yasuhiro Kitao and he says there are optional bosses as hard as Orphan of Kos and Darkeater Midir. Also the difficulty has been tweaked since the CNT so the game is harder overall.

I took week of from work starting 25th. My friend who often plays with me took 3 weeks and plans health time off too. Fucker has like 1,5k hours in each DS.

Never done a Magic build in any souls game.

If magic is more fun in Elden Ring maybe is a good time.

The game looks fantastic, but the need to "opt-in" for solo invasions is a real basic-bitch kind of change for the worse. Though unless you're a scared little wusswuss itty bitty wittle babby wahwah, you'll make sure to use the item that allows invasions even when your gay lover isn't there to protect you.

Autism Lord wants your runes.

They have been undermining the invasion mechanic for years now. Shame, because it is one of the more interesting things Souls games have introduced. But I guess getting invaded scares off the casuals and those games are expensive to make.
