I went full retard with my build. 30 vigor 18 str 55 dex cause my weapon +9 has B scaling for Dex.

The boss with the horsie died in the 2nd attempt and for a second I was afraid that I fucked up ... but in the depths there is an optional fight with two archangels and they destroyed me for 1h+ (the ones with the coffin).

Joined a guy and killed an invader. Got the Crucible set armor and watched an airbone Crucible land in a lake :P

The game has started to grow on me again cause I'm trying to get my OCD under control.

i was helping a guy to die

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
True, true. Funny enough my girlfriend has just started playing. Interested in how she'll find it as a Soulslike newbie

My GF watched me play, a total non-gamer, first time she even saw something like that (she saw some kids playing some Nintendo shit before, that's it).

She was completely gobsmacked. She was screaming, squealing, covering her eyes. 15 mins in she said: "That's it, can't watch it anymore, how can you play this shit, my nerves are frayed."

Yeah, I guess we're hardened old bastards, altho even I still get butterflies in my stomach now and then.

Oh shoosh, I was able to turn it off. I can't surprise fuckers anymore but it's a trade off I'm willing to make. That accidental crouch shit was single handedly destroying the game for me.

New patch broke my game again with the white screen bug and crash to desktops when I managed to get through the main menu screen. Verified integrity and it acquired missing files again. The fuck are they doing over there? I don't have to do this after every update in other games.
Patch 1.02.3 is available now for PC:
Fixed a problem in which controllers connected to the PC were not recognized under certain circumstances

If equipment or other items do not appear properly, please verify the game files: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB…

Thank you for your support.

Looks like 40/40 might be dead for a quality build but the author hasn't finished testing yet
If dex/str scale to 80 I imagine quality builds will scale really well. I was doing sorcery and it was left completely useless in the endgame, but a level 160 quality build might kick ass.

Update:
The Capital area lives up the promise that the DS3 DLC Ringed City promised but failed to deliver. It's mind boggling how layered, varied, and just stacked with fun encounters the Capital is. It feels like it's own version of Yharnam.

Also, PSA: it took me until now to realize that you don't have to scroll ALL THE WAY DOWN to teleport to the Roundtable Hold. Click the Legend, then Roundtable has a quick select from there. lolz

I actually had my first CTD today as well. Not sure if I was already patched.

Does anyone know what the softcap breakpoints for stats are yet? I'm working on the assumption that it's around 40 for melee stats
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2765060616
Good guide to know the breakpoints, I'll respec to remove all my useless attributes boosted by an item found in a fort in caleid that gives +5 to everything physical.

sMltw6X.jpg

My stats with the stat booster item in action.
I'll prolly just take -5 on everything to keep 40 vig/dex, go for 25 end and start dabbling in some utility magic. Or maybe arcane for the bleeds, but I fear they might do what they did in DS3 with luck.

Endurance isn't terribly useful past 25 I find if you don't use a heavy weapon, I can unleash one of my more consuming weapon arts (on Katana) four times in a row at 24 without the stat boosting item, but there's not a lot of bosses that allow me to spam this baby. I think using weapons like UGSes is a dead end here just like DS3.

The fact you have to hit two buttons to switch from sword and board to two handed is also hampering on combat performance. Even if my finger memory adjusts the delayed effect is still annoying.

I understand the need to try something new but a lot of the shit they added to this game seems to fall into the "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" territory.

We didn't need to crouch for sneaking, we didn't need to jump, we didn't need open world. We only got those things because DS3 2.0 which is what this might have been without those changes would have been a bit much even for a Japanese company.

Radahn down after an ungodly number of attempts - still fewer than Margit took, though. Took me long until I realized I could summon all NPCs at once. Not that any of them were particularly great on their own, wolf boy still did most of their work. Phew...

Some protips:

Employ your horse well. Use it to lure his attacks away from the NPCs and then run in with a leap attack when you get the chance. Dismounting at speed will allow you to leap over his shockwave attacks if you ride towards him and dismount at the right time.

Going for the head stab is probably not worth it when he gets staggered - the timing is tight, and the damage isn't amazing. Most likely better to just poke at his feet/horse.

Once he summons his meteors, I just didn't get close to him until he launched them. You may wish to make use of weapon buffs at this point. Fire seemed to work well.

As for ashes of war, I found the phalanx daggers to work great since they deal good stagger damage and you'll have plenty of time to cast them while the boss is flailing about. The damage windows are tight so you want all the bonus damage you can get.

BTW, is this game set in a kind of divine realm? Would that explain why there's just castles and big knights everywhere?

.
It's annoying even if you don't use the shield, weapons can have interesting movesets on the one handed, like the katana thrust r2 which isn't a thrust in two hand mode. I barely use the jump attack, at least on this weapon this is never better than using a powerful weapon art at stance breaking enemies.

Basically yeah. I mean all the political leaders are literally demigods, every single person is immortal, the queen of the realm is a genuine god, there are powerful magic trees connected to that god everywhere that constantly give blessings to the people living under them.

On the surface, it may be a divine realm. Underneath
it's really a playground for outer gods. The scarlet rot for example was the product of an outer god (it's all in item descriptions). The Greater Will, which is the existence behind the two fingers is an outer god.
The more "regular" gods that people think of in the realm are just subservient existences toward these external powers. This is why they became so powerless and are warring with each other after the shattering while we hear nothing about outer gods killing one another.
>every single person is immortal
No, only those subserviant gods and demigods originally were. The paradox of the events of the shattering and the theft of the rune of death is that it caused everyone else to become immortals while at the same time removing the immortality of those false gods, hence why they can be killed now. I call them false gods because all their powers was really granted by the will of external entities, and just like it could be granted when Queen Marika took good care of the Elden Ring, it can be taken away.
The tarnished OTOH were immortals because they were banished from the cycle of life and death of the realm.

It's weird how some areas in the game look way better than others. A lot of zones barely look better than Dark Souls 3, sometimes worse. But then there are places like Leyndell and Elphael that look a generation ahead.

Was looking at my loot (I only look at the gear when I feel done exploring/fighting stuff) and this is the second time I see a weapon like this :
qmfJDkI.jpg

It's a faith based weapon that doesn't have split damage (pure holy so it shouldn't suffer from the caveats of typical non physical weapons) and it deals unblockable damage despite also having the excellent moveset of a long sword. Is it just me or From heavily favors faith this time around?

Faith seems to be a major stat in a lot of equipment and spells I come across in the game. I think they definitely leaned into it in Elden Ring. Thematically appropriate, in a way.
