Localizers changing the story, FFS. :argh:

Yeah, one of the biggest changes actually had to do with Duras.

In the German version, he killed the Paladin dude in cold blood and admitted to using to you to further his ambitions. In the English version, he admits to still using you, but he says it was self defense and the information you get on the Paladin dude seems to back this up

It's an interesting change. I personally have no feelings on whether it's better or worse.

and people told me i was wrong when i said the germano version was the only true ELEX

Anyway, speaking of shitty writung, I am upset about the tardo alignment-specific dialogue options. They are uninteresting, stupidly written and completely without nuance. I mean come on, you always get 3 options and they are always:

1. :despair: can't we all just get along

2. :neveraskedforthis: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

3. :evilcodex: MAIM! KILL! BURN! MAIM! KILL! BURN!

ELEX 1 handled this infinite times better, even if the total asshole options under #3 can sometimes be funny (like telling Caja you pissed off into the wilderness because you couldn't put up with her whining anymore).

Melee is for tools, join whichever faction gives you a lazor gun.
I'd probably do that in this game as well mainly because the melee combat was completely trash in the first game. Most likely the situation has remained unchanged in the sequel.

Albs are the coolest faction so far, but I like the Morkon robots outside the Grotto.

So I was promised 5 factions but from the looks of it, actually it's 3 with Outlaws and Clerics sidelined? Just presuming from early in-game conversation and the hilarious skill tree where Clerics have 2 abilities and "main" factions like a dozen.

Found the Codexer, he died doing what he loved, playing Elex in his dungeon.

Notes From Crispy's Desk:

Just downloaded and started playing, got past the first few critters.

Initial thoughts:

- Yes, game is quite janky still, but I've grown rather fond of this particular brand of jankiness. If this is the worst it gets, I can live with it.

- Performance is incredibly hard for a very mediocre-looking game. My i9-10900K is being pushed to over 65C, which is no problem for it and my nice cooler, but it's surprising to hear its fan actually kick in and need to do something other than sitting there snoring, which not even CP2077 or Metro Exodus caused it to do. My 3090 is capable of (so far) maintaining about 105fps with everything completely maxed out. I feel bad for people with less-than-stellar systems; I doubt the performance is ever going to get patched to be a whole lot better.

- Controls are about what I expected, but I'm disappointed to see how easily they can foul up. For example, just stepping too close to a metal container can cause Jax to stupidly climb up on top of it and just stand there. Isn't this 2022?

- Speaking of Jax, this is not what I remember him looking like. He looks more like a Jason Statham doped up on thorazine than the scowling Jax from ELEX 1.

All in all, so far, however, I'm a happy ELEXer. Need that FoV patch soon, though!

The itemization makes the exploration very boring. If you already have a good weapon, there's nothing to look forward to. I have about a dozen unique weapons now and the only thing they're good for is selling to merchants because you can't equip your companions. Most of the time all you're going to find is more cooked food(?!), healing potions, and tape anyways.
All the armor is effectively identical to armor of the same 'tier', all they provide is a generic armor stat.

Basically, none of the issues I had with ELEX were improved upon at all and areas where ELEX was decent are worse.
5 years.

This is fucking garbage. I'm sorry, it is. Clearly ELEX 1 was a fluke, and this is still the same studio that is operating at an Risen 3 level.

i was also disappointed in uniques
not even once i had one equipped. couldnt equip ranged ones but it's probably the same shit

best one handed (non dex) i could find is still worse than some standard, nonenhanced one. exactly the same reqs.
it has 3 slots but i dont know if it's really worth it
if only there was anything unique about them, like double lightning damage or whatever the fuck

Hey guys, question. I played 170 hours of ELEX and had a blast, but got distracted and didn't get to finish it. Got to the icy north areas though. Will i be missing out in ELEX 2 if i didn't finish ELEX 1? Or can u pretty much pick it right up and not worry about the first game?

You can watch some story video on the Youtoobs or something to explain what happened with TEH HYBRID and all that shit. But it seems pretty disconnected, at least in the beginning so far.
