Anyone got any tips for where to go at low level? I'm not strong enough to take on the first patrol you get a quest to spy on (then get forced to engage at close range because of a cut scene ffs) but I do at least have Caja with me which helps massively.
I'm hoarding all my elexit and I want to train up something useful.
I don't think the game is ever consistent with how long the time skip is.
Dex is about 6-8, but one of the returning NPCs says something along the lines of "its been what, five years?" or some such
You will eventually be swimming in elexit, so don't bother hoarding it. Just make sure you save enough to buy skills. Also don't be afraid to buy some good armor.

use the general remedy or w/e it is to clean the poison after it builds up then chug a health potion before the poison builds all the way up again
you can't use health potions to heal if the poison status effect builds all the way up, you have to clear it first
Not to mention that melee combat has been also been "Bethesda-ized" to make it idiot proof. You literally just spam the attack button until enemies fall over. Enemies also barely ever dodge and never block or parry
You need to go down to the end of the back right corridor to find the source of the leak to have enough to report back and finish.
The quest design is simplistic without much substantiative C&C. Go here, kill trash mob, maybe get maguffin, come back. Frequently an escort/tour guide is added and they yammer on while you discover the next teleporter and kill everything and pick up every piece of trash on the way. The dialogue choices have a Mass Effect/KOTOR vibe and only really affect your light side/dark side scale and how much your individual companions like you. One difference on that end is that the 'evil-ish' NPCs, Nasty and Bully, sometimes (but not always) get miffed when you play boy scout. I can only assume those that really hate you won't join in for the obligatory everybody wins big bad end game battle. I'm guessing that a high destruction run is a basically a combat buff for solo players.
That all said, like almost every modern AA or AAA game it's dumbed down but not un-fun....a better version of Fallout 4 but not as offensively woke as something like Greedfall. JFC but all these game are the same.

Hitting the end of the companion quests and hooray, romances. White haired recovering drug addict, literally 'nasty', violent, foul mouthed skank, or mother of my child. Blonde librarian cleric with thigh gap, FTW.
Just finished it a while ago. Gotta say it gripped me a lot more from the start than the first ELEX, and was overall a more enjoyable experience but a worse game, if that makes sense. I went into it with zero expectation, bought in on GOG so figured if I don't like it after a few hours I'll just refund. However, I got into it pretty quickly as the quest design from the start shows off a lot of promise even though it ends up being extremely inconsistent. Interesting quests that involve investigation, talking to NPCs and exploration, some with multiple solutions, are spread inbetween extremely boring fetch quests and an absolutely ridiculous amount of stupid MMO quests of killing XY amount of trash mobs.
I went with the Berserkers for no other reason but proximity as I can't stand walking in open world games. I'm honestly sick and tired of that and really rarely is a game interesting enough to make it fun and worth it with its exploration. Gotta say though that the world, while largely nonsensical and stupid, is nicely condensed and I like that it's not too big and empty. So it's not entirely bad, especially once you get the jetpack upgrade that lets you "leap" forward quite a lot. It's a fun way to traverse the terrain but even then it's not fun for long, so I ended up looking up the teleporter map and just rushing to them so that I could skip the trip on any of the stupid quests that basically have you fetching stuff from one settlement to the next and then reporting to the quest giver back in the original town, etc. That said, the world has its moments and the vertical exploration is rewarding with cool loot here and there.
Story-wise, it's nothing breathtaking but has its interesting moments. The mystery itself is interesting enough to keep my attention, and the characters involved are intriguing. It's convoluted as shit sometimes with the "twists", but the details and worldbuilding is interesting. There are a few attempts at some philosophical dilemma etc. which are pretty trivial but again, it keeps it a bit more interesting.
The game unfortunately falls apart, in all aspects, towards the end, as is PB tradition. You don't really meet any new enemies, they're just now slightly easier to take down, you probably have the best armor and weapon in the game (they're fairly easy to find if you explore a bit, and some are thrown at you by the game itself) yet you're drowning in money with nothing to spend it on. The story takes a deep dive as well and several completely nonsensical things happen, with people disappearing, stupid shit happening that really doesn't have a place in a 2022 game in my opinion (always hated it when my character was different in cutscenes than in the game, and here even though I had no magic abilities, Jax throws a fireball or whatever in a cutscene). It didn't even feel like typical PB stuff, it felt like they completely rushed it and gave up on any sort of consistency or logic, didn't test it, and as is typical, the QA probably never reached the end game because there's a ridiculous amount of visual bugs in cutscenes, bad dialog, etc. Dex is basically absent 70% of the game and then towards the end gets a massive role only for
him to sacrifice himself and NOBODY reacting. Except for Jax, whose voice actor gives an absolutely ridiculous performance in English, AND the animations is even worse. His face looks like that meme Shepard's face in Mass Effect 2 with his eyebrows raised to the top of his skull, and he sort of does this wavy motion with his arms... it's so bad it's hilarious.
The final set of quests is literally "go to place and kill 20+ enemies" on your own. You spend the whole game building up a supposed central force, you're supposed to be uniting the people or something - this is given A LOT of attention and focus during the first 3/4s of the game, and then it's completely forgotten when it's supposed to give you the reward and you face the finale with a group of like 6 people from your faction + your companions. Not a single member of any other faction, seemingly no matter what standing you have with them. The ending is just rushed, and being able to visit NPCs for endgame dialogue is a good idea, but it's again stupidly inconsistent. One of the leaders of the other factions attacked me but you can't even kill him
That being said, the first three quarters were fun, it's just a shame the ending was a slog to get through - and you really do just want to get through it and be done with it finally.
The infinite jetpack only really happens after the final quest, which I don't understand. I didn't follow all the marketing for the game but I was under the impression that this was supposed to be a part of it from the start? Other than being able to easily access some of the "secret" loot (which really is fairly obvious, almost every vertical place has a way to get upstairs even with the basic jetpack, it's not difficult, and you almost always know if there's loot. There are maybe 4 exceptions that I could find which require upgrades) I see no way for it to break the game, since they have "invisible murder walls" anyway, flying enemies that could dissuade you at lower levels, and in the end items are level capped anyway.
In fact, it would even display one of the better qualities of the game, and that is that you can get some quests done without knowing, and the world reacts to it (you can kill a group of bandits and then an NPC asks you to accompany them to kill them, but you tell them it's already done, etc). That being said though, they fucked that up too because some of these quest enemies are only spawned in when you're doing that quest and that's a cheap cop out. Then if you're exploring you just find an empty location that has obvious detail and just think "I see, later on there'll be a quest here". Nothing unusual in RPGs, but the game can deal with it in other instances, so it's jarring when it happens.
Overall though, it has that PB charm, sometimes interesting and sometimes awful dialogue, combat that is fun for the first time you meet a new enemy and then never again, interesting world design, fun exploration, some good and some shit awful quests... but that charm won me over and got me to finishing it. I don't think I'll replay it anytime soon, if ever, though I might load an earlier save before I committed to the Berserkers and try some of the other faction quests because those were generally the best fun of the bunch. But probably later, and possibly once some decent trainers are out that give me the infinite jetpack from the start or something, to avoid all the travel.
I think i just started claw questline, and i am upset jax doesnt register the claws because he was a member. I wish they'd make this canon because we were bros

it's also double retarded to me that enemy humanoids dont even use the same attack animations as you for attacking, which not only makes remembering their attack patterns harder but also leads me to the conclusion that they are probably cheating the combat in some way
my head is also full of fugg that the key for dropping from ledges is space when you press space to climb up stuff and over obstacles FFS

I came to the conclusion that the combat is just fucking buggy-jank, especially when elevation comes into play. Sometimes you can parry perfectly and nothing happens, sometimes you don't do shit and the enemy goes through you but no damage is dealt, sometimes both gets combined, you parry wrong or you parry right and no damage taken but their attack doesn't stop... and then their second attack in the combo does hit. Or doesn't. Sometimes, they also track you perfectly when you dodge-roll... and sometimes it's enough to just move normally to dodge.
It's definitely retarded but when you accept that it is, it becomes more manageable and I just accepted it eventually
Totally agreed about the ledge grabbing though, it would have been better if they didn't even have it at all; it's only useful for like the first 2 hours anyway.
Darth Roxor did you try to run with sword and a shield? Its a buggy mess.
Also if you get 100% one it will block EVERYTHING. Problem is that attack button often isnt working while you wield one. Also cant fly with shield equipped. Nor with 2hf weapon for that matter. Mentioned not using same animations is even more visible once you switch to two handed.
Clearly you were meant to play with single handed and free hand.
I think im finally nearing end of the game. Didnt join the faction... so far. Dialogs are quite retarded and you are urged to do so on number of occasions. THe farther you get in main quest line the more kill x creatures quests will appear. Almost like if they were a place holders...
I'm in Chp 4 and there is a ridiculous quest to wipe out a total of 160 robots in different regions. There are quite a few like this but this is the worst.
I think I've seen perhaps 5 or 6 dialogue checks in the entire game so far. I think they impact minor creation/destruction shifts, NPC loyalty or reward 50 xp.
End game monsters reward roughly 300-600xp, while most quests reward 1000. This encourages/requires grinding.
