Is Ulbricht supposed to
die in the fight for the Alb converter in Ignadon? I could choose to have him fight with my group or the main group, but with both he always died instantly. Couldn't even last the first fight, pussy.
No... but I also have level 3 laser gun set to full automatic. The mechs go down real quick.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I kinda agree about the the better armors being restricted only to after joining a faction being dumb. If I can modify an armor or if the faction armor have a perk of their own or something then I can understand it being restricted but AFAIK its only visual differences for faction armor differences.

I also killed several people of different factions and really irritates me that I can't loot their armor, I can just pretend I am from their faction or something like in Fallout maybe.

While the Piranha Bytes approach to armor is unusual for an RPG, it’s also very realistic. Decent armor makes you a god in both Elex and reality. Good armor is super expensive, and more important, it needs to be tailored to the individual. If it’s at all rigid, and certainly that’s how the best Cleric and Berserker armors look, then you can’t fit into someone else’s armor unless you have almost exactly the same dimensions (outlaw gear looks like it would be more interchangeable). Hell, gain ten pounds and you’ll probably struggle to fit into your own armor.

I’m assuming that even though the best armor in Elex is expensive, it’s gated by faction because the factions still subsidize part of the cost. Historically even a cheap suit of plate would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in today’s money. 30k elexit for a full suit of regent armor is a steal.

Figuring everything out yourself is lovably oldschool mayhap, but if you have to figure out your own damn hp growth or that rmb + lmb = riposte, then there's something very ronk afoot.

Yeah, can't disagree with that now. Feels good going in completely blind for once.
Also glad they kept the entire game under wraps, no licensed "Prima Guides" = word-of-mouth spoiler crap, everything is a surprise for once.

The game's introductory phase needs to be Remastered© though, it's in no way representative of the game beyond the first few hours. Central Edan just reminded me of that failed mmo Defiance. Compare that to Tavar Desert, Ignadon etc, there's no contest - and being it's where you spend the first hour or so, again, first impressions matter.

How's exploration and verticality if one were to avoid using the jetpack, by the way?
I dunno, I started using a cheat for infinite jetpack and the game actually improved considerably.
I'm quoting myself here because I'm getting wtf:s as reaction to this, but I must honestly say that to me, the game has objectively improved by having infinite backpack. Now, yeah, you can end up trivializing most of the combat, because you can just hover around and shoot down, but apart from that, it's just so fucking wonderful being able to actually use the jet pack to get somewhere without having to stand around like a fucking mofo just to watch it recharge, especially with the massively shit controls of the game getting you stuck in places all the time as your jetpack runs out, and then you die, reload, and have to stand there waiting for it to recharge because the charge of your jetpack isn't saved when saving, but persists between loads.

It also helps avoiding the complete retardation that is the companion AI as they shoot their AoE into the ground next to you over and over; you can simply hover up a bit so you don't get hit by their constant attempts at AoE-spamming through a fucking roof.

You guys should try it. It honestly improves the game immesurably and makes everything feel a lot less sketchy. I never have to worry about the avatar suddenly not grabbing onto something like you expected them to, and instead jump, but being able to catch mid-jump, fly between two platforms, and as you activate your jetpack, get caught under the platform, deplete the jetpack before I can get away from under it, and then fall down, and have to climb up again because no shit now my jetpack is depleted.

I've never had a cheat make a game so much better before, that I can think of.

I know it's too late to fix, likely even in an Enhanced Edition, because there's simply not that many real towns, but I think it was a mistake to take you directly to the Berserkers. It's very easy to think of Goliet as "the starter town", but it's really no different to other places. It would probably have been better to have dumped you by The Dome.

One idea that could be cool would be to ask you when the game start where your plane went down, and start you in the suitable region to that, meeting the appropriate NPC:s, but that might end up feeling quite artificial, as if you're making your choice of faction before the game even starts. I dunno.

Can anyone confirm if this is THE issue that used to corrupt windows installations? I am really tempted to start a berserker game now, but there is no way I'm going to jeopardize another OS.

do you guys always run with companions?

"Yes" was going to be my initial response, but then I realize I haven't had one for the last few sessions (I went Cleric, and I felt the Pilgrimage was better to do solo, symbolically speaking).

Aside from them being a decent addition in a fight, I keep them around for their dialog injections during quests. I've been pleasantly surprised by the writing at points.

That's nice, but do you remember how many guns, swords, and chainswords were dropped on killed enemies? And you still needed to not only spend jew money to buy weapon in shop, but you were not even able to SELL theirs weapons in shop.

Are the two NPCs important? I only ever saw their corpses in front of the outlaw camp when I first made my way there.

Elex potions increasing cold makes sense. It also explains why my cold value never budged.

I'd rather use Cheat Engine than to savescum just to save time and be frustrated over the controls being shit.

If you pick the middle option (no cold requirements) and he shows up at the third fight with Reinhold, you're screwed. He always bites it. I tested it he just drops dead the moment you get in range.

If you pick the option that has him come along with you and Nasty, its possible to save him. One method is to just not talk to Nasty after the second wave, leave the whole squad back and take on the last battle yourself. Makes it harder obviously.

On the other hand, armor in ELEX isn't as great as it is in prior PB games. Even with 60+ armor rating I'm still taking non-trivial damage from most mobs.

Part of that is the much lower HP pool too.

legit patch, good stuff there, including some QoL changes.

I wish there was a skill to extend jetpack time as well, or at least recharge. High crafting skill would be legit.

Enemy humanoids would sometimes get stuck with their projectiles hitting low walls, when if they just aimed slightly higher it would hit you. This would result in them damaging themselves in some cases if you positioned yourself right.
