No, the mechanics would have to be not shit in order for the game to qualify. Is this the Dark Soul of PB combat RPGs then? (hey, figured i'd be the first to make this shitty joke).

Archers suck as always. Is there any game other than Thief, where an arrow to the head is instakill?
Enemies don't have homing attacks that is true but a video showing a guy using i-frames to dodge doesn't exactly disprove bad hitboxes. Anyone playing a melee character should know by now that the game has bad hitboxes. You mean like when troll throws rock in front of himself which then makes a 180 turn and lands behind him on you? Yeah, right.
This is still target leading, albeit extreme. The projectile won't alter its flight path after launch, so calling it auto-aim is just holding up a neon sign saying "I cannot into shooters and/or I have the reflexes of a brick wall".
yep the “hit box are broken” and “enemy have homing ranged attack”
it’s actually only a “git gud” issue.
When I sneak in behind someone, sometimes even when behind a wall and with Camouflage on, they almost always turn around on the spot and start following me or go hostile/prepare to go hostile if I don't leave fast enough. It's pretty absurd. Really, to speak of "stealth" in Elex is being overly generous. You're almost universally better off simply running in and grabbing whatever you want before they have a chance to react.I don't like Stealth in ELEX as well. Kinda wish if it was better but there are more important things to improve I guess.
Edit:
Also Entering someone's home when they are there shouldn't aggro them quickly. I had a quest in Tavaar and entered a home to talk to an NPC and the moment I finished the dialogue I was attacked by the NPCs including the quest giver and only stopped when I exited the house, that's kinda dumb.
So if a game is an RPG then any kind of bullshit is allowed. A hundred arrows sticking out of a guys head like he fell out of Hellraiser is fine because thats just RPG man. It seems only DX did this right and Gothic 1 and 2 except for archers.Archers suck as always. Is there any game other than Thief, where an arrow to the head is instakill?
You seem to be confused. ELEX is an RPG, not an FPS.
"It's an RPG" is a poor excuse for shit mechanics. The game relies on you being able to hit the mobs, it has no excuse for not having location-specific effects based on your ability to hit said mobs. It's like saying that dodging is jerky and shitty, but it's OK, because it's an RPG. I prefer isometric-type TB or CTB games that would have none of these issues, but seriously, what the fuck?Archers suck as always. Is there any game other than Thief, where an arrow to the head is instakill?

Yeah, no. Armor is neither worthless paper, but it is neither something that turns you into a god. Especally if it's not a small period of medieval times but a setting with plasma rifles and rocket launchers. And even if it were medieval times, there were whole manuals made how to get through enemy armor back then and weapons to penetrate it.While the Piranha Bytes approach to armor is unusual for an RPG, it’s also very realistic. Decent armor makes you a god in both Elex and reality.
If this game actually relied on that for you to hit, you'd have a point - but it doesn't. If you are going to implement a system, such as the one used in Elex, you should strive to make the best of that system, and the best possible implementation of that system. This is not rocket-science or hard to grasp."It's an RPG" is a poor excuse for shit mechanics. Why is it a poor excuse? Why is it a shit mechanic? RPGs are about dice rolls and/or stats, not twitch skills. It may be silly but that's the nature of RPGs.
Not as far as I know, but I haven't played a berserker.Maybe i can fix that...
Does Mana make you emotional? I mean it's the opposit of ELEX, right?
Well, I think that it can be a valid excuse for why a game is good. Or why you think that a game is good. For example, I think that Arcanum has tons of shit mechanics and have things that striaght-up fucking doesn't work, but I still think that it's a great RPG and one of the best games ever made. Saying that the story is great can still be an argument if you value that higher than the mechanics that happen to be shit, the C&C and reactivity can be second-to-none, which explains why people are willing to put up with other things. It's a poor excuse, but often used. Many beloved RPGs, new and old, have shit mechanics, and when you point it out people always go "but muh story, c&c, reactivity"...

Like I said, I favour isometric-ish turn-based games that do exactly what you suggest - relies dice rolls and stats - but Elex is not such a game in terms of combat. It relies on you pointing and shooting at your opponent, doing flat damage as according to the weapon you are using. Trying to defend the shit combat in Elex with "It's an RPG! It relies on statistics!" is a shitty excuse and a bad attempt at being apologetic for the shit combat that already doesn't rely on the very thing you put forth as an argument, namely that "RPG:s are about dice rolls and/or stats". You dodge manually, you move manually, you aim manually. These things could be the best of what they can be by actually making the dodging work properly and the controls better, the hitboxes could be not shit, hitting your target in different ways at different places at different times could matter; but it doesn't.
Defending this shitty implementation of a system Elex has already elected to use by saying "It's an RPG" is asinine.
Something being an RPG is no excuse for elements of it being shit, and devalues the term "RPG" to simply mean "half-assed implementation but it's totally on purpose".
