There is a difference about having a competition, and having a competition with exclusivity deals on PC.

And how else do you suppose anyone can make even a dent in Gaben's fucking behemoth? Is having one more tiny icon on your desktop really so unbearable a price to pay for knocking that greedy fat fuck from his golden throne? And having cheaper games and better terms for the devs? Metro is 10 bucks cheaper on Epic FFS.

Jesus Christ, gamers should be pulped and pressed for pure retardation juice.
It won't be cheaper, it will be 60 euros in European countries and 50 pounds in the UK. Epic doesn't offer any services Steam already does. So why would I like Epic as a customer? I agree that as a developer, the lower cut is a huge pro, although the smaller visibility is a con.

is a small price to pay for getting rid that fucking toad.
So you would migrate to a worse platform just to show Gaben who is the boss? Well done, well done.

how about providing a better service? that's how gayben and his pals got people to start buying games

Gayben FORCED people on his shitty platform not with "better services" but by Steam-locking HalfLife and Counterstrike.
Yeah. Notice the difference. Gaben made HIS GAMES exclusive, not other developers' games.
Analogically Epic has no choice but to apply some force in return, seeing how after 10 years of Steam monopoly legions of people are absolutely resistant to use anything else.
Because every other service IS SHIT compared to Steam AND utterly pointless, as it offers nothing that separates it from Steam. The only service that actually tried to do something different and offer something Steam didn't, succeeded without needing to resort to strangle tactics - GOG.

Also the game IS NOT CHEAPER THAN ANY PAST METRO GAME. Stop falling for Deep Silver's shit.

Funnily enough, these sort of heavy-handed moves by Epic will guarantee that I buy nothing from them anytime soon, since they prove that they are untrustworthy and not above really scummy business practices and fucking over consumers from the outset. Fuck developers that go for that "Exclusivity deal" too, hope for them the quick Payoff is worth the shitty Sales on PC that will follow.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Yeah. Notice the difference. Gaben made HIS GAMES exclusive, not other developers' games.

And that's supposed to be a consolation? Apparently you don't remember what a huge backlash there was because of HalfLife steam-locking. I didn't read anyone saying it's fine bc it's Gaben's game. There's no real difference if it's YOUR game or anyone else's, the result is still the same - you're being forced into something.

Whether Steam is great and everything else is shit is, like, your opinion man. I prefer easy, simple launchers like Galaxy to Gaben's bloated mess full of trading cards, idiotic soshul features and the retard-central that's the comment section. Only the Workshop is a really good feature, makes modding easier, then again nothing wrong with Nexus either.

As for Exodus being cheaper - not cheaper than past Metro games but Epic Metro is cheaper than Steam-preorder Metro. Altho it's just for Murica apparently, my bad.

The proper way to do that would be to release for 60$ on Steam and at permanent 18% discount on epicstore and let the consumers choose.
It'd be much better advertisement for Epic and all the hate would be directed at Steam and put a pressure on Valve to reduce the cut too.

It's the same price as on steam currently in most regions btw, but both that and exlusivity are publisher faults most likely. Some clueless suit got blinded by a higher cut and set them up for sales failure.

I'd say fuck to those devs/publishers who go with that EPIC EXCLUSIVE more than to Epic itself: Epic has TONS of money and they are doing their move, but the really scummy thing here are the developers/publishers which are ready to jump in as soon as they see the money. I mean, I'm pretty sure steam saved Depp Silver because let's face it, it's not that their games are hit on console like a random Ubisoft or EA game, and they managed to go on for some titles which did better like Saints Row but more importantly because they managed to sell a fuckton of copies of their Dead Island during sales, bundles etc.

But as soon as they saw the opportunity to do some quick money, they jumped in giving the middle finger to the users on Steam who supported them for years.

I won't buy games on the Epic Store because I do not like how they are handling their business, and the developers/publishers which are jumping on this shit will see my money when their game is 75% off on Steam or bundled.

Same for Team Meat and the new SMB, they became rich thanks to Steam (see Indie Game: The Movie) and they jumped in as soon as they had the opportunity. I still remember how they shitted on XBox Live, later than they shitted on Steam before jumping on Epic, but it seems they are taking money whenever they can. Probably they will shit on Epic too one day, not before they got their cut.

Also maybe for you US people Metro is cheaper on Epic, for me the Gold is like 91€ against the 85€ Steam is asking me, because I need to pay processing fees...not even G2A charges so much.

No that's objective fact. If you want to defend uPlay and Origin by all means go ahead, gives me a good laugh.

Idk what you're on about. Steam gives you a lot of options to customize its UI, making it as simple as you want. It even lets you completely ignore anything that isn't your games list. Example:

Seems like you have a hateboner for Steam.

Just like 15 years ago people swore on the graves of their parents to NEVER buy Half-Life 2 on Steam. Eventually I think I was the only one to stick to the promise.

You are not alone brother:hug:

Also it seems that in 2020 Deep Silver and A4Games will get huge boost in income.

I personally don't have problem with multiple launchers (although soon we will need some Launcher to launch our launchers), my biggest concern is Epic future when Fortnite bubble bursts and kids will move to Next Cool Thing.

Nice one, I was planning to buy it but considering the news I won't. And lmao at people defending "competition" that doesn't even have user reviews, oh yeah, that'll come later and it'll be an opt-in by developers.

Strong competition :salute::salute::salute:

Go fuck yourselves, Deep Silver. I am never downloading that Tencent-owned launcher because I don't want the Chinese Government to have access to all of my information.

Wow. I can imagine piracy numbers being pretty high for this one once it gets cracked. Fuck the Epic Store.

There is no justification for this, it's not a "oh people are just Steam fanboys" and to that idiot saying Half Life being locked to Steam only is the same are you serious? If Epic actually made good games and had them on the store then it might be worth a look, but they don't. They're relying on throwing money at short sighted publishers rather then building any sort of good will.

Here's a thought, if they actually gave a toss about these developers like they claimed and wanted to build on this 'fair competition' they talk about then they could release the game on the Epic store, use the money they would've spent to make it exclusive to make it the cheapest platform to buy it on and give people the option, but no. They simply want to condition people to the store because they have absolutely nothing to offer.

Deep Silver?
More like Deep Pockets.

Incredibly lame of them to hold games hostage, they won't be getting my money.
