That was a pretty awful trailer, the entire Fallout aesthetic in an open-world 3D world has already been played out twice (enjoyably imo). This doesn't look like it's offering anything more than graphics polish. At least with Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, there is a clear sense of place particular to that game. If this is any indication, we are simply looking at a Fallout 3 rehash, and I already have Fallout 3. Color me unimpressed.

Coincidentally, Fallout 3 appears to have rocketed to near the top of Steam's RPG Top Seller list. Maybe no one else can tell the difference either.

Think it's pretty keen how they used in-engine footage instead of cg.

My tepid interest in this will hold until I see how much of Josh Sawyer's genius they've abandoned. If they're retained and iterated on his ideas, that would be something else.

Looks like shit. It almost looks like they just slapped together a demo in the Fallout 3 engine.

Anyways, this *new* fallout series is fucking garbage action shit so who cares.
I'm glad you're back

Was just rewatching the trailer with pause. There is clearly a scene right outside a baseball stadium, with a baseball player statue in front of it, followed by the next scene which shows a makeshift town. One of the stores in the town clearly says Diamond City on it.

Probably refers to a Baseball Diamond?

Sounds like maybe Fenway Park in Boston was converted into a makeshift city called Diamond City?

I said this in shoutbox, but I'll repeat it.

You just know there's going to be a quest that somehow relates to throwing tea off of a boat.
*sigh* I was wondering what the boat with jet engines strapped to it at 1:39 was for... :negative:

Fallout New Vegas gave me all the closure I needed for Fallout as a series.

I don't care about whatever Bethesda does.

I might take a look at a stand alone expansion for this if they bring in Obsidian to do it. I will pass on FO4 itself though. There are too many actual rpgs coming out now for me to feel compelled to waste my time on Bethesda garbage.

Beth continues to prove they're the worst people to get their hands on the Fallout license.

We all know what kind of games Bethesda produces, but it really is puzzling how underwhelming the trailer looks after Skyrim trailer which could hype you at least a bit, although you knew what kind of game to expect form Bethesda, but at least they improved from Oblivion IMO (except even more simplification). I'm wondering what were they thinking? Also they've been working on this for a long time, and graphics/animations aren't noticabley better than F3. Maybe this is an indication that the game will be better and not simplified like Skyrim? :troll: Anyway, no matter what a handful of people here think, it's gonna sell at least 10 million copies, if not more, and get rave reviews from "journalists" and players... So it's not like they have a reason to change anything, except even more "streamlining" and simplification for the lowest common denominator.

@Vault Dweller what are your impressions?
The trailer shows Bethesda's creativity and deep understanding of the Fallout setting, so fuck yeah, I'm excited. If the rumors are true, it will be a dramatic experience paying homage to The Last of Us and the story will revolve around you seeking revenge for the death of your wife, a middle-aged woman.

I guess it depends where you're coming from. If you never played a Fallout game (or good old rpg's) and you get your hands on Fallout 3, or New Vegas you'll be fucking amazed - post apocalyptic open world rpg in 3d - fuck yeah! However, if you have played the first two Fallouts and you expect the same immersive story and atmosphere or if you're an rpg connoisseur you'll bitch about it ad infinitum because it could've been soooo much better. But let's consider for a moment why is this happening, why Bethesda doesn't submit to our infinite wisdom and make this the "perfect rpg". Number one issue would be that they are a company in the bussiness of making MONEY rather than GAMES. They are not some small indie company where folks get excited about this feature and that feature and are driven by passion - they couldn't be even if they wanted, it's simply not possible when you're this giant studio - way too many people with various interests and opinions. And most of the gamers out there - let's be blunt about it - are a bit dumb when it comes to advanced stats, complex mechanics and the lack of an arrow on the minimap - so even if they made this worthy succesor of Fallout 1/2 its reach would probably be much, much smaller than it currently is - which is a bad thing imho - at least this way it introduced more people to teh first 2 Fallouts (myself included). I am not defending Bethesda - I wouldn't dare do that here :)) - I am simply acknowledging that given the current situation Bethesda is doing what it should be doing - compromising between popamole and "perfect" rpg mechanics in order to have a large audience reach and make tons of money without blatantly dumbing down the gameplay so it can keep the appearance of a respectable, rpg-oriented company.
