The Fallout setting would work better if it didn't seem to completely change with every new game. I like New Vegas's "post-post-apocalyptic" setting though.
Leave NV alone people.
It's a game worthy of the fallout name.
wat
NV is up there with FO 1 & 2.
Ice 9: the video gameFor a really bleak game, you could have an icy apocalypse in the jungle. The rest of the world is completely uninhabitable, and with the jungles now dead, man's days are numbered. The game would be visually interesting - imagine huge trees coated in ice, frozen swamps and rivers, blizzards impairing your visibility in the deep jungle...snowblind in the dead forest, you slowly realize that you're not alone...
Now we're shitting on post-apocalyptic settings? seriously wtf is wrong with you people? Why did you even contribute to this game if you don't care for post-apocalyptic settings all of a sudden?

There was/is a Fallout 4 kickstarter? That's pretty low from Bethesda given that they're rolling in the money.

Let's tell this brilliant idea to Obsidian guys.
We have found a great setting for a new game here. It's called Fall-In. This game is set in alternate future where world war 3 with nuclear bombs has happened. Funny thing is world's culture never evolved from 40's.
We start as one of the descendants of people who entered the Safe 113 before the bombs hit the country. Safe's are giant nuclear shelter complexes over the land which houses 100-150 inhabitants that also seems to house some sinister motives underlying it.
We wake up one night and Overmaster calls us to his toilet. He tells us about a broken food chip and tells us we have to find a new one. He tells us there is another safe in the east where we can probably find it. After that he pats our back and tells us we are the only hope vault has for the future. We set out after this. We open the giants windows of the Safe 113 and reload our trusted Colt 7210 1 cm pistol to get ready for some good old fashioned "rat diplomacy". We go out, we discuss philosophy with rats and shoot them in their ass. As we step closer to the exit, we saw our first moonlight of our life. This is a good sign for things to come. Then we step out to the desert...
If nothing else, we can always drool over the game's concept art.For a really bleak game, you could have an icy apocalypse in the jungle. Fallout 3I want a post-apocalyptic world with Vampires.
I want a post-apocalyptic world with Vampires. And blackjack and hookers.

Or how about post-apocalyptic The Wire? Since we're on the topic...

Fallout belongs in the USA. Not that it matters since Bethesda fucked everything up, but still. Other countries could be shown in DLCs, but the main game should be set in America, because Fallout is about what happened to the USA after the nuclear apocalypse, it is the essential part of the setting and you can't remove it.
A Sound of Thunder? The screenshot reminds me of that movie when they go back in time, kill a butterfly and then all shit breaks loose in the future. Can't remember the name but it was a relatively new movie.
