Most of the negative reviews is from Russia I think

I actually like a lot in it. It reminds me of Daggerfall - lot of things with great potential, murdered by lousy execution.

In the end it won't matter anyway - it's already earning them big buxxx. They only have started milking the franchise and some negativity won't affect the sales made by hype. Other popular franchises need at least 2 flops in a row before it seems to start affecting the sales (and even then the next installment is in the works (ass creed and cod games for example)). You have to reach the levels of that last Batman game to really flop a big franchise game (and even then it was because of complaints about technical issues, not gameplay).

Absolutely disgusting.

I remember the level of hype around Skyrim, and F04, sir, is no Skyrim. So scores seem in line with how fast hype will die down. Still will sell oodles of $$ tho. And they probably put in a lot less effort than Skyrim.
Das.

I find this metacritic drop very interesting. As a Black Isle Fallout fan the game so far is yeah, whatever. But it's been too long to rehash all that shit. Are Bethesda sill the worst? Yes. Is this an 'RPG'? No. Does this game function on a higher and less derpy level than Fallout 3 as wasteland hiking simulator? So far my report would say: Yes, largely. I found myself thinking "They got some advice and learned some lessons from Obsidian, didn't they?" and that is honestly a surprise to me. Anyway, all I'm saying is Fallout 3 was and is the derpiest pile of stupid fucking shit the world of games has ever seen, and this game...just kind of isn't as bad, so what gives?

That said...

It is incredibly fun to watch Bethestard's surefire "slamdunk!" drop in the ol' hypedome. Heh. Fuckers shoulda passed it off to Obsidian when they had the chance.

Codex is Bethesda hate central and there's plenty of D1Pers anyway

And the Lord said, Because the casualfaggotry of RPG Codex is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

But Tim Cain stood yet before the Lord. And Tim drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there be fifty actual CRPG gamers within the forum: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the casualfags: and that the righteous should be as the popamoley, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the interwebs do right?

And the Lord said, If I find in the Codex fifty righteous gamers, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.

And Tim answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:

Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the forum for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.

And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.

And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake.

And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

And thus it came to pass that the Lord smote RPG Codex with His terrible fury, for within that place there could no longer be found ten righteous gamers. And RPG Watch did rise a mighty temple to His glory. And lo, the world was covered in darkness.

So someone deslikes you and your tastes. Grow up!

You post your idiotic praising of Fallout 3 & 4 as "wasteland hiking simulators" (your words) as something that is good, when anyone with a modicum of tastes would know that this is bad. You interrupt our fireworks celebration of Fallout 4 bad user rating on Metacritic (and underwhelming ratings on Steam), which could be a sign of better times ahead.

You really should learn a thing or two about timing, you moronic piece of shit.

Sigh. Perhaps a new approach is called for. Maybe I should tell you things since that seems to work with religious folk...instead of putting forth fodder for discussion

Not a word.

you and your tastes.

See, that's the thing. The only opinion I'm putting forth is: FO3 was the worst game of all time, FO4 has some improvements. Not really a matter of tastes if you're leaving the Fallout 3/Bethesda dead-horse debate which we've long since left behind in the years before you joined this forum.

K.

You post your idiotic praising of Fallout 3 & 4

Yeah, that's not what that was.

"wasteland hiking simulators" (your words)

And the words of many others. That's pretty much what they are. Bethesda, whether you're too petulant and childish to admit it, are good at environmental design. That this is ALL they're good at is an entirely different discusssion.

as something that is good

Yeah, no. Never said that. In fact, as I just stated...a totally different discussion.

when anyone with a modicum of tastes would know that this is bad.

Well, unless you like hiking simulators. Then that is good.

You interrupt our fireworks celebration of Fallout 4 bad user rating on Metacritic (and underwhelming ratings on Steam)

I don't give a single fuck what diaper games I interrupted with my posts today, yesterday or any day to come.

which could be a sign of better times ahead.

Now who needs to grow up, bruh?

You really should learn a thing or two about timing, you moronic piece of shit.

Here's something I've learned about timing:

Irenaus joins RPG Codex: Didn't care.
Irenaus leaves RPG Codex: Didn't care.
Irenaus II joins RPG Codex: Didn't care.
Irenaus II may or may not leave RPG Codex again: Will not care.

My indifference, my indifference never changes.

Instead of ranting at each other aimlessly, maybe you should explain just what you think FO4 learned from New Vegas.

The idea of agriculture, for one. One big one for me is crafting. One of the biggest flaws in FO3 was the inability to treat the wasteland like a scrap workshop. In FO4 even the most disposable shit can be used to craft new, more useful shit. <-- An improvement which surely came from NV's crafting focus.

Eh, crafting systems are a staple of most sandbox open-world games these days. They probably would have done it anyway.

Doesn't change the fact that they very probably liked how Obsidian approached it, and learned from it.

True, you can craft a couch out of cigarettes.
