I remember reading that "Bioshock: Infinite" was originally much heavy on the lying scheming warhero Senator theme, but implying that the historical US government might not be all selfless saints was deemed to risky, so they switched to the abstract cult theme to be safer.
it's probably just a false excuse, in reality the story was rewritten because Ken Levin is a hack who changes things halfway through production for no discernible reason.

And when he does write something controversial, it gets retconned in a DLC.
Like showing that black rebel lady threatening to kill a child. That's racist! Good thing the DLC lets us revisit that scene to make clear she was just bluffing for selfless matyr reasons.

I can't believe people still play Ubishit games. I got sick of them over a decade ago. What a bunch of easily amused pea brained dipshits.

RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth

perhaps it's not the same people? Like people who bought their games 10 years ago like you and me hadn't bought the most recent ones, but newcomers just lap up whatever the gaming media and advertisement (well, it's the same thing at the end of the day anyway) tell them to enjoy. Hopefully.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm sick of Ubisoft's games too, but Far Cry is kind of an exception. Unlike the new Ass Creeds or Ghost Recon Breakpoint, FC is at its best when it's treated as a pure theme park with little hindrance, and I play these games solely just for the exotic, pretty, eye-pleasing locations. I play it the same way I enjoy Forza Horizon, Euro Truck Sim, or Kingdom Come Deliverance, to fulfill my own fantasy of visiting real life places that I know I'll never be able to visit.

But why not ass creed then since it's pretty too? Ass creed is in third person and the way the games are presented has always felt more gamey than FC to me. FC also has much more freedom in how you traverse the world, you don't just run and climb, you fly around with wingsuit and parachute, hook onto mountain cliffs and sling around with grapple hook. There's quad bike, shit tons of cars, planes, boats, horses, and even tanks. The locations in FC games rarely unnecessarily stretch out to reach an arbitrary quantity quota like Ass Creed because of this, there's a lot of fun exploring the world both horizontally and vertically, and it's just an ultimate type of "expressing yourself" gameplay that you can give to players in this type of fast food blockbuster video games.

I guess this is why the developers decide to keep putting a rebellious tone in these games, but I kinda feel the opposite, I wish they were more wholesome and carefree in tone. Those "race to the supply package before the army" missions are fun, but at the same time the bloodshed comes off as cheap thrills. Nevertheless, as long as Far Cry don't get into the same pitfall as ass creed, I'm always on board.

So has anyone actually played this yet?

Just got it yesterday and have only played an hour thus far.

So far so good at the moment. From what I'm hearing, at least this game will be a lot more technically sound and complete compared to upcoming bugfests such as CoD Vanguard, BF 2042 or Halo Infinite's single-player campaign.

There's only one thing that could have saved this game for me (and got me to bother installing it), and that's for the game to give you a choice to betray the embarrassement that are this game's "revolutionaries", and then proceed to execute them all in bloody cinematic fashion.

https://www.pcgamer.com/far-cry-6s-...vent-killed-him-yet-hes-emailing-me-about-it/

Unlike the last several Far Cry games, I haven't played a whole lot of Far Cry 6 and I'm nowhere near finishing it. I completed a few missions, did some exploring, tried out an FOV mod, and played around with the best vehicle in the game. Along the way, naturally, I took down some outposts and killed a bunch of enemy soldiers with my machete, rifle, and no small amount of dynamite. Then I quit.

That's apparently not good enough for Anton Castillo, the cruel dictator of Yara and Far Cry 6's main bad guy. Anton is really, really disappointed in me because I haven't killed enough of his soldiers or taken over enough of his strongholds, thus allowing him to remain in power.

I know this because he emailed me with the subject line: "You disappoint me." The email reads "I wanted to thank you for giving me free rein in Yara. Take it easy, and know that Yara is in capable hands." That's some pretty passive-aggressive talk from a dictator, or more accurately, Ubisoft's PR department.

Well at least he's polite about it.

So has anyone ITT played this game start to finish? Already know that the story is crap, but I'm wondering on how's the typical FC sandboxy experience holding up compared to previous titles.

Haven't played the previous titles, but finished FC6 a few months ago and definitely enjoyed it. Beginning starts out slow (similar to other Ubisoft titles) but gets better once you get more weapons, armor, abilities, etc.

The new rogue-like DLCs with Vaas, Pagan Min, etc. add a lot of replay as well.

If any hiveminder wants to pick it up, after it fell off a passing truck or so, just remember one important advice:
Ignore the central area! Do the northern one as the game tells you, then drive south and don't stop until you reach the coast. If you are burned out after the south, uninstall and make up your own ending, you lose nuzzink.

The central part is sooo bad, probably written by the New Dawn people, as I noticed the same pattern devoid of any skill, talent or even basic writing abilities. They even managed to ruin the token "drunken episode" by having you follow the most unfunny annoying NPC around like a dog, as if his rich daddy paid you to be his friend for one evening. :argh:

Ubisoft should have of ended it with the quite good (ending aside) FC5, but...

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
I bought, played and finished every FC game since FC2. This one is the first one in like 15 years I've passed on.

I simply couldn't anymore, even without the dangerhair, estrogen reeking, zoomer fanfic grade writing permeating the culture nowadays.

If by "great follow up" you mean "something that felt like it was written by an 8 yo in his diary while hiding from the school bullies in a closet", then... oooookay. :hahano:

As a rule of thumb, you should always try to renarrate what you just saw to yourself, and check if you can go through it without having a serious concussion from banging your head on the table. As for New Derp, I was already in dire need of medical attention before the tutorial phase was even over. Sad.

Just in case a hiveminder with strong morality preventing him/her/mudcrab from piracy, yet wants to test out FC6 anyway: there's a free trial running from august 4.-8. apparently.

Still costs you bandwidth tho.

Shows how shitty sales must have been. :hahano:
