Haven't got any. I've mostly used the satisfaction bonus to get +50 troops for every unit. Are the reinforcements really useful?

In other news, the four brothers (and the love-struck bitch that follows them) from Shinkugazameaewhattefuckitwas(sp?) are easily on top of my hate-list currently. Oh man how I rage at them.

Anyway, tips for other newbies: do not fuck with Takeda unless you enjoy headdesk. My ~1k ranged units were raped in two turns by their cavalry. Also, just like in original Panzer General, it is quite possible to fuck up your game early-on, ie wasting time and creating sub-par army, which turns Demon Army pretty impossible. I was on turn 94 but had to restart. New game is going much, much better.

FYI, even after 90 turns where the demon army plot is forced, you can stall the battle at Honnoji as long as you like while you power up units, go through dungeons for items, and buy all of the nice reinforcements from distant lands.

The secret to Takeda is to blitz, blitz, blitz. Ignore their attacks on other provinces, just the defend against the ones in their own land and take their castles ASAP. You want either diviners with defend all, tacticians with buffs and debuffs, and/or soldiers with defend all + defend boost. Or wait till 2nd game and use battle permits

A few are only decentish, but others are ridiculously overpowered.

Uruza can be upgraded with an attack that hits all enemies AND drains 1 turn from them. Also has a max level of 75, which is great for captain fights. Did I mention she could drain 1 turn from all enemies? No? Let me say it again. All enemies lose a turn. You can do it multiple times. Stack it with Kenshin's innate skill and enemies literally sit through battle helpless, with absolutely no defense.

Leila is a knight, which is a unit class that combines the attack of a warrior, defense of a footsoldier, and even better attack skills (2x damage against enemies with more units).

Maria blows things up with a rocket launcher. Not kidding.

If you don't know what to do with the satisfaction, pick the 'raise everyone's affection by 3' one. Good skills and stats are generally better then more troops after you get past around 500-1k troops. I believe their are diminishing returns as you add more soldiers.

Oh yeah, it goes something like this
Zeth: average, awesome, good
Lezeus: shit, awesome, awesome
You can only request reinforcements before the demon army appears I think.

In true route they're bearable. In other routes they fucking dare to steal your women. Sources say that if a female commander is at Trust she won't join them but in my game Leila from Lezeus was on Trust and she did. Stupid bitch.

Steal my women? I didn't even give Aki back to her former husband! NO-ONE touches my harem! :rage:

Hmm, seems I lost a golden opportunity with the reinforcements. Oh well, I'll keep trying.

Oh and sorry for hijacking your thread WW

Hey, this thread would turn pretty stale if no one commented.
I didn't even give Aki back to her former husband! NO-ONE touches my harem!
Be happy you didn't.

And btw, if nothing else, the japs do make great music. The game has a sweet, sweet soundtrack and I love the way they use it - intermingled with silent moments and different pieces for different emotions. I don't remember getting as much impact from mere music in any recent WRPG :/

Yeah, and even more, some tracks are themselves really cool popculture references.

For example, this is a parody of the Anthem of the former German Democratic Republic

*Between the turn*

alcg0178.jpg

Another pointless event from Tokugawa about shit I really don't want to comment on.

alcg0179.jpg

So the Musket guys decided to counter-attack us. I can tell you one thing, those muskets of of theirs are pretty damn annoying... even in small numbers.

alcg0180.jpg

I could have let them take one of the strong points in Kyo, it wouldn't be really a loss in the long run, but killing as much troops as possible to weaken their army should (theoretically) make the job easier for us when attacking.

alcg0181.jpg

Another event. You already know this girl, she joins the Musket army and has quite a wicked ability.

*Between the turn*

Turn #9

As soon as our turn starts, another event (oh god). There is no fucking in this one, unfortunately. I'm posting it as a whole just because there is some importance to it.

Time for some battle coverage.

*Battle 1*
alcg0196.jpg

So there are four strong-points we have to conquer, in this turn we will try to take the first three. The first encounter is bloody awful, nothing but load, load, load... damn muskets.

alcg0197.jpg

Finally a bit of luck and we manage not to receive heavy damage.

*Battle 2*
alcg0198.jpg

Some trouble decided to knock on the door.

alcg0199-1.jpg

alcg0199-5.jpg

So Kenshi likes to travel the land and fight people who try invading other countries. The possibility of this event happening is something like 1 to 10. If we are attacked there is also a possibility she will help us.

This event looks like this: we are basically fighting Muskets, Kenshi just joins them with one unit of Warriors.

alcg0200.jpg

Of course a warrior unit that is standing in the back is pretty much useless.

But even without the help of those female warriors we almost got our asses kick... almost.

*Battle 2*
alcg0201.jpg

Here's Tanegeshima himself.

alcg0202.jpg

He will be a problem if we won't take him out fast... or at least weaken. Between him and our attacks stands a Foot-unit, but thanks to Suzumes "Assassination 2" ability we kill the Commander and put the whole unit out of commission.

alcg0203.jpg

alcg0204.jpg

After that we finish off the defenceless musket units.

End of Turn #9
---------------------------------------------------

In the next turn we're going to end this war and maybe get some ass... or not, time will show.

Gahahaha Uesugi Kenshin is quite a woman. I wonder if I can fuck her? But I don't want to piss her off so I shouldn't rape her. Hmmmmm.

Thank god the AI is so dumb, if it decided to deploy Kenshin in the first row together with musketeers you'd be fucked.
It does that often though, making her almost useless.
Still, -1ap on everyone hurts.

This is bullshit, I'm trying to do the event when you assassinate the head Takeda and if I'm correct you need to meet 2 conditions to be able to.
1) Fight with some Takeda general- done
2) Block at least 1 of their Blitz attacks- done
And I still can't assassinate.

leila could be able to handle him (thanks to him having more troops), IF she is buffed and he isn't...always bring a tactician (nanoe ai if you have her...) to very hard battles, they make a ton of difference. screw the archers (except isoroku of course) and fire the lot of them, btw ;-)

EDIT: @ black: you have to block ALL 4 blitz-attacks in the same round...that's quite a feat in itself. if you did that and you still can't assassinate him: it's a second game you're playing and you beat takeda by conquering them completely before, right?

A green exploration command to assassinate Takeda Shingen becomes available once both of the following conditions are met:

1. The player has previously defeated Takeda House via brute force and let the game auto-save. This can have been done in an earlier play-through, but can also be done in the current one (by conquering via brute force and then loading a save file where Takeda still exists).
2. In the current game you have successfully blocked all 4 consecutive attacks in a blitz, AND no other events is suppressing events at the beginning of the turn (which introduces the availability of the command, where Rance and Suzume discuss about Shingen). Clarification: the beginning of the turn event CAN occur on a different turn than the turn which you blocked all 4 consecutive attacks if there are other event suppressing this event. You only need to block ONE blitz, and it is possible for the event to occur after later blitz, which you do not need to block.

My guess is you either didn't defeat Takeda on a previous playthrough, or you are misunderstanding and thinking you only need to block 1 attack, when you actually need to block 1 entire wave. The event is funny as hell though, definitely worth going through the pain of doing it. Even if you don't get the Takeda bonus during the next game from it :x

Try to assassinate (unlikely with such a small ninja group, but I've seen it happen), or get a diviners with at least 1 block-all. Buffs from tacticians also help. You really shouldn't be building lots of archers, other then Isoroku with her special skills they don't deal much more damage then tacticians and tacticians will give huge defense/attack buffs, let you speed up battle, or adjust the battle metre thingy. Tactician will also let you cancel their Furinkazan, which is their real strength. Remember, buffs are actually important in this game. Its something like 33% less damage taken and 50% more damage dealt from strength/defense buffs. A high defense blocking footman with + defense buff can hold back any huge physical attack.

edit: ^^what he said (on a side note: i have the takeda-bonus...insanity!)

you could try getting both of those cavalry-units and fight them with their own units - good job on caputring those, btw.
but you lack firepower to bring them down...mainly tacticians and diviners...get andou kyuuri at least, WW got him in the LP as well.
did you already upgrade isoroku and got her awesome whirlwind-shot-skill?

i really don't know if you can make it, but i wish you the best of luck =)

Ohhhh.... the game could've just told me how much the buff does then I would've used them. :|

I'll try to endure one more blitz attack and reconstruct my army then, thanks.

Hey, you guys were right, I needed to block an entire blitz.
Now all I have to do is to find those 3 fucks. Since Houjo declared war on me I hope they can recruit them.
The countries that I think can't recruit them are Hannys (because they're fucking hannys), Ueasagi (no men allowed), demon army and that country of youkais.
Even if you don't get the Takeda bonus during the next game from it
No no no, I didn't go through all this shit to not unlock Takeda bonus.

Are you watching the beginning of turn recruitment notices?

The problem is that they can take forever to get recruited. I was fighting multiple houses and their troops had dwindled into the 100's remaining, yet it still took till around turn 90 before any of the takeda were recruited. Thank god I had the battle permits so I could just stop caring about repelling attacks each wave and just spammed the end turn button.
