Chump change.

Number 4 has to be a hell of a lot more than that.
It's completely unknown. I only know the 40k number because at *one* point that's how many gog copies of Witcher 1 had been sold. So any game above that is at least 40k.

You remember wrong, 40k were first month Witcher 2 GOG sales. Total W2 sales at the time were close to 1M. Since total sales now are ~2,5M, we can make a guess, that W2 sold ~100k on GOG.

DK2 has several improvements over DK1 (workshop works way better, secret doors, better room building, imps train themselves, mana pool) but in other aspects DK1 wins any day of the week. This includes way faster and satisfying combat (stunning creatures when you drop them is absolutely retarded and significantly breaks the flow), way more creatures with great and weird designs, the ability to choose between killing or stunning enemy creatures thus adding another dimension to combat, the deeper dungeons which DK2 doesn't have an equivalent of, the horned reapers which are real creatures and not just some spell you can cast, training up to level 10, etc.

99% agreed. Only:

training up to level 10
is something I could live without. It would be cool if some DK1 mod allowed choosing a level cap for training creatures (for example 8 = max). Higher levels would be availalbe only through regular combat (no arena in DK1).

Four reasons why DK1 is better game than DK2:
- graphics (terribad in DK2, great even today in DK1)
- sound design (DK1 is one of the best games evar in this area)
- the ability to keep your dungeon fortified for almost as long as you want (human enemies won't breach in as long as your entire dungeon is fortified). Camping FTW!
- atmpshere: great and unique in DK1, nonexistant in DK2.

DK2 is quite frankly a much better game than DK1. Punkass niggas are just hating because of the worse atmosphere, yes.

That was the opinion of the Qt3 hivemind back when GOG acquired it (though apparently no longer), and I still disagree. DK2 was entirely free from any kind of challenge. It's without a doubt more polished, better looking, better running & better a-shitload-of-other-stuff (atmosphere too, IMO), but it's barely a game at all. Compared to DK Gold which has plenty of great and challenging levels.

Nigga you kidding me.

DK2 has an actual campaign, it might not be the hardest, but at least it's diverse (and it still has some mean levels, like sieging Asmodeus or converting monks vs vampire army), and has some alternate mission picks. DK1 has the same level x20, where the only challenge boils down to "turtle up, get more creatures than enemy, train them to higher levels -> tactical strike entire dungeon outside enemy dungeon heart, press space bar to continue". Not to mention some of its downright asshole moves, like giving you the scavenging room and conveniently rigging the portals to ensure you'll never have the same creatures as the enemy (except skeletons and vampires, which will get stolen immediately because the enemy starts with a bunch of lvl 10 ones or something).

Yes, because the things you pulled out of your ass are considered quality posting.

KeeperFX does help, though claiming it looks better than DK2 is a bit of a stretch. Both games sounded great for their time... So if we toss objectivity out the window, I guess that one still comes down to whether your audio gear predates the dinosauers or not.

The rose-tiented everything is stronk in this thread, methinks :D

I thought that Top Sellers list reflected the most recent week, because it always seems to include whatever is on sale.
This list: http://www.gog.com/games?as=1649904300 shows the all time best sellers.
For me that list is topped by Inquisitor and has games like Septerra Core, Smugglers V and Hocus Pocus in the top 10. DK2 isn't even in the top 20.
Are you sure that is supposed to be the all time best sellers?

What browser are you using? It's supposed to be sorted by Bestselling. PS:T is #1, followed by BG2 and NWN.

My list has DK2 on top and Dragonshard (WFT?!?) on 10th.

You're not looking at the all-time bestseller list. You're looking at the current bestseller list on GOG's front page. Not the same thing.

JudasIscariot , what are the chances you can submit a request for GOG to try and work out a deal with the publishers of The Thing to try and get it on GOG? It doesn't seem like you can really buy it anywhere at the moment.

This is what you should see
Now I see that as well.
Too bad I didn't take a screenshot. It was a really weird list.
I even tried sorting by something else and then by bestselling again, it didn't change. But now it works.
