I know that both NWN and NWN2 are considered to have DRM because of the cd-keys, but there are more.
Its hardly the intrusive drm we hate. I can live with cd-keys, but at the end of the day they are still drm.
The CD keys are only used for multiplayer because the online networks for those games absolutely require them to function. If I recall correctly you do not even get a CD key for those to start - you have to request one from GOG. Those are kind of a special case because of that. However there is never any time during the install and gameplay process - except during multiplayer - you ever have to enter a CD key to play, and there are no limited or online activations of any kind.

Never finished it myself, but I'd say that it's worth a few bucks for the first 4-5 chapters alone if you've got the money to spare and are in the mood for a weird, offbeat adventure game. Brother None's LP should give you a good idea of whether it's something you'd be interested in.

Another Microprose game rereleased by Tommo. And hey, it was also designed by Mr. Elder Scrolls Loremaster, Lawrence Schick!
I would really like a SOTS remake. The original was great, but clunky controls and irritating music puts me off replaying it. I really like the old Sid Meier model of making games that are really just a bunch of minigames strung together by well-functioning overlying strategy mechanics.

But it's uncensored version so :salute:. This is one bizzare game. A little bit of horror, grotesque, mystery, and much more. You need to play it at least once. The worst part was probably the action shooting/stabbing sequences. They weren't hard, just unecessary.

Finally downloaded Realms of the Haunting, I've been curious about this game for a long time. Too bad it's UK version so I'll have to use the mapper for proper keybinding. Who uses arrows in fps-es nowadays ?

Also, Harvester 100% bonafide UNCENSORED! If you see the Merit Logo when you fire up the game you have the uncensored version :D
Though I'm normally against censorship, I think Harvester would benefit from some. Ideally just replacing the whole game with a blank screen so people don't have to suffer through that terrible fucking game.

In other news I just found out something that will make commie come: GOG updated the Tex Murphy: Overseer version they have to the DVD version! Why did you never tell us JudasIscariot? This news should've been all over this and the Tex thread!

I am also SO happy now that I chose Overseer is my free game when I preordered Tesla Effect.

This made me wonder. What makes a game abandonware? Is there a law for after x years, a game is automatically abandonware? Or some dude just thinks "meh, 20 years have passed since release, this game is abandonware from no on".

There's definitely no legal thing going on with abandonware. It's (supposed to be) games that you can no longer buy anywhere and that doesn't have aggressive rights holders, so you can put them up for download without being sued.

And 99% odds neither Mr. Schick nor any other original Dev team members will see a cent from any sales the game will get.

After 2 buyouts, 1 Divestiture (plus the complete laying off of everybody MP related), and 1 bankruptcy later "Tommo" has gotten the IP.
Now GOG can use (fan developed) DOSbox to help "Tommo" recoup its investment in "promoting creativity".
Assuming they don't go bankrupt as well, they will be legally entitled to selling this game for another 70 years.


And don't you dare criticize or infringe on their right, or games like Sword of the Samurai might never be developed again!!!

If that fails and we are required to have regional prices, we will make up the difference for you out of our own pockets. For now it will be with $5.99 and $9.99 game codes. In a couple of months, once we have such functionality implemented, we will give you store credit instead, which then you will be able to use towards any purchase and cover the price of it in full or partially. Effectively gamers from all around the world will be able to benefit from the US prices.

This will apply to every single game where we do not have flat pricing, such as Age of Wonders 3 (full details here), Divinity: Original Sin, and The Witcher 3. If you remember the Fair Price Package for The Witcher 2, this will be exactly the same.

Three: We still intend to introduce the pricing in local currencies. Let us explain why we want to do it and how we want to make it fair for everyone. From the very beginning our intention was to make things easier for users whose credit cards/payment systems are not natively in USD. The advantages are simple because the price is more understandable and easier to relate to. There would be no exchange rates involved, no transaction fees, and no other hidden charges. However after reading your comments, we realized we have taken an important element away: the choice. In order to fix this, we'll offer the option of paying in the local currency or the equivalent in USD. This way, how you pay is always your choice.

Four: You are what matters, and we will be sure to involve you all more in what we're doing and why we're doing it. Let's start by meeting you at GDC - we’d like to invite you to meet us face-to-face Monday the 17th at GDC. Obviously, not all of you can come to San Francisco, so we want to invite all of you to an online event with us early in April to ask us whatever you would like. More details soon.

The bottom line is simple: there may be companies that won't work with us (although we will work hard to convince the most stubborn ones ;). Yes, it means we might miss out on some games, but at the same time GOG.com will remain true to its values and will keep on offering you the best of DRM-free gaming with Fair Prices.
