God damnit! I didn't even know this existed. You mean I could have slammed a few hundred more titles into my GOG account and I missed that opportunity? Did it work in reverse (GOG to Steam)?

No, there were only a few of them available. I think it required some greenlight from the dev too, or something like that, so that barely made a difference for me.

im not sure even 3 titles were transferred for me. I think whole thing went live just twice or so? Forgot it existed in first place

I always thought the transfer was only for the Witcher series or CDProject games. Since you could have owned The Witcher 1 on Steam before GOG existed.

I got plenty of games from Connect. I can't really be mad at them for retiring it; it's not like they owed me anything, it was a bonus.

Your ignore list.

True, but I pay for Amazon Prime yearly subscription regardless since the free shipping benefits (at least here in Brazil) make it extremely attractive. The shipping costs of about 6~8 purchases are enough to pay for the whole year of Amazon Prime (and I usually buy way more than that each year from Amazon) + I sometimes get these free games on GOG + I get Prime Video (which my parents use). This might be different in other places of the world, though.

NWN EE asks for a cd key to play online.
Two players with the same cd key can't play together.
I don't have much issue with cd keys but that is DRM.
The original NWNs also require you to change your cdkeys.
Oh yes i am very aware of that since i own a boxed copy.
But there are any games with DRM that once finally arrive at GOG, have their DRM removed.
The fact that didn't happen with this title shows how slowly GOG is abandoning its core principle.

That's been a discussion held for a long time now in their forums. The issue is that some publishers need some sort of verification to activate online components of games and yeah, it means you have to do this sort of thing. No Man's Sky used to have content that was made available only if you connected to the multiplayer bit. Also, CDPR has Galaxy exclusive content for CP77 and TW3 now...

They better not delete my unreal games in my catalog
Wouldn't be the first time they delete stuff from your library.

Just fairly recently they consolidated the Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny installers - and in doing so nuked the two Spear of Destiny mission packs (Ultimate Challenge and Return to Danger) from people's libraries. When made aware of this, gog support was basically "lol, ask Bethesda about it".
That's not how it worked before - so just to check I've found separate Spear of Destiny product in my library - and installed it. Launcher offered me option to run:
1) Spear of Destiny
2) Ultimate Challenge
3) Return to Danger
4) exit program
Files from mission packs are definitely installed on the disk. So either they've already fixed it - or it was not happening for everyone.

One thing that they've been definitely doing - is making changes to the product for all new customers according to publisher wishes. People who bought game earlier always have access to the original version.

So when publisher announces superior, remastered version, either:
  • original version is offered as a free bonus to anyone buying a remaster,
  • remaster is offered for free to anyone already owning the original - as separate entry in library,
  • or it may be the last opportunity to buy original release on GOG and keep it in your library.
And you never know beforehand.

At some point they've promised to implement 'wayback machine' - so you can go back to any version (incl. any patch version) that was available from the moment you've bought the game. But I don't think that they've delived on that promise yet.
Just a head's up, it seems the problem has been resolved, at least for those who previously purchased Spear of Desitny when it was still a seperate entry.
It disapeared from my library in December, but now it is back as a new entry. I have now (again) seperate items in my library for Spear of Destiny, Wolfenstein 3D, as well as another Wolfenstein 3D item (which is the one currently being sold in the shop that comes with Spear of Destiny but without the SoD mission packs).

Check your libraries and back it up in case they change it again!
